A 2 bedroom apartment sleeping 4-7. Part of one of the oldest buildings in the Chamonix valley (well into it's 4th century) the flat has been sensitively renovated to offer contemporary accommodation while preserving the historical character.

About the property


It stands in a spacious garden near the Grands Montets lifts which in winter time access some the most snow sure slopes in Europe. It is 100m from the bus stop making this just about the most convenient location in the whole Chamonix valley. We benefit from more sunshine than almost any other location in the valley receiving many hours on sun light even in mid-winter. All in all we offer a relaxing and comfortable spot for a winter break, facilities for all the family. Safe grounds for the kids to play in, welcoming local bar, private parking and all the world renowned facilities of the Chamonix valley.

Why Ian Proudfoot and Sara Pendlebury chose Argentière

Both ski instructors, we were drawn to the area through our love of skiing, but like many people in the Chamonix valley, discovered that the summer had as much if not more to offer.

The house was built in the 1600s and was one of the first Farmhouses in Argentiere. Old pictures show it before the development of the village today. it is a place we fell in love with.

It is situated in the hamlet of L’Ioutre in the South of Argentiere Village, 5 minutes walk from the Grand Montets lift station and the Chosalets nursery slopes. In a valley surrounded by high mountains we found a spot that gets sunshine every day of the year.

What makes this apartment unique

The farmhouse is close to the Grands Montets lifts, and a regular bus stop that serves the whole Chamonix valley from Le Tour to Les Houches.

The apartment is quiet and set back from the road, and set in an extensive garden that you may use, summer and snow permitting, winter. Or you can use its very long balcony. This gets the sun even in the winter months, and has spectacular views to the Mont Blanc Massif.

'I've stayed at La Lanche in winter and summer many times over the last ten years, and will be going back for many more I have no doubt. n ideal spot for a small group or family to stay. In winter, the short walk across Grands Montets car park provides a gentle warm up. In summer, the river path is an idyllic spot for a walk or bike ride. Can't wait to go back!' M Pemberton

The location of the property is just a short walk away from the main high street. What I really liked was the much more relaxed location (which is still in easy walk of places to eat and drink) a short walk from the Grand Montets with a close bus stop that can take you to any other area. The apartment was also very comfortable and had only very recently been refurbished to a high standard. I would definitely recommend this apartment'. Derren Bailey

Notes on accommodation: This spacious apartment can be linked to the other unit to provide accommodation for larger groups. Outside: A garden on flat ground is available for all range of apres ski games, sledging, snowman building, igloo building and snow ball battles. There us also a private spot to sit out in the summer.

Very enjoyable stay

Nothing too fancy but warm, clean, and well maintained, nice and quiet (away from the main road) and with fabulous views. The owners are very friendly and gave us lots of advice and helped with one or two technical issues with our skis.

Cosy apartment close to lifts and buses

The apartment was clean and comfortable. Lovely and warm to return to at the end of the day skiing. We stayed in the apartment that has not been renovated and the kitchen was small with only the bare basics. Bit difficult to cook anything other than very simple food - this was a slight negative as we had small children with us. A group of adults probably wouldn't be bothered by this. We still had a fabulous time here. Lots of plentiful hot water for showers. Argentiere in easy walking distance with good cafés and bars. Close to the bus stop into chamonix although we had a car. Extremely close to Grand Montets lifts. Sara and Ian being downstairs is a big plus with lots of tips and advice.

Great apartment and stunning location

What a beautiful location - stunning views of Mont Blanc and l'Aguille du Midi from the balcony and living room windows. Brilliantly located for ski lifts at Grands Montets ski area - just a 5 minute walk and right by a bus stop (or the main road if you have a car) for all the other ski areas of the Chamonix Valley. Perfect for a stay in Winter or Summer - in fact any time of year!

The apartment is kitted out with all the amenities you might expect and kept to a high standard. Modern and bright but warm and cosy when it's cold outside.

The owners are lovely - friendly and welcoming and always available to help and advise as needed. I would highly recommend staying at La Lanche if you're thinking of a holiday or a stay in the Chamonix valley.

Highly recommended ski accommodation

It was an absolute pleasure to come back to this apartment in Argentiere after a hard day's skiing. It was bright, airy and with stunning views and toasty-warm of an evening. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen well-stocked and the power shower amazing. It had two great, heated racks which got our damp clothes dry really fast. Good wifi connection too. Hosts Ian and Sara are delightful people who know the area inside out and are amazing skiers themselves. I look forward to going back.

Very nice apartment

Very nice apartment, good location for buses and ski lifts. Ian and Sara could not be more helpful or welcoming. Helped us find ski instructors and orient ourselves on the first day. They even bought our friends a bottle of champagne to celebrate their engagement. Would absolutely recommend.

Great apartment in beautiful location

This apartment is great - it has everything you need and comfortably fits a family of four with plenty of room in the living area for friends to visit. The location is ideal for grand montet and panda club (kids ski school). The children felt like they had freedom to roam outside due to the location being set back from the road with a cycling/walking track going all the way to chamonix by the side of a beautiful river.

Ian and Sara made us feel completely at home and their daughter was great with the children.

I would highly recommend this apartment, especially to families.
