Nestled at the foot of the North Downs on the outskirts of Maidstone, our six acre smallholding offers you the chance to relax, to enjoy life at a slower pace, while you admire the stunning views from your private patio, wander around the allotment or take a stroll along the Pilgrim’s Way.
For those seeking a little more activity, however, both children and adults are welcome to help out with the animals and with chickens, geese, ducks, pigs and sheep there’s plenty to do. Bubble and Squeak, our alpacas, love being fed and Harold, our turkey, is always keen to make new friends.
Nestled at the foot of the North Downs on the outskirts of Maidstone in a small village called Harrietsham, our six acre smallholding offers you the chance to relax, to enjoy life at a slower pace, while you admire the stunning views from your private patio, the cottages are light and airy with vaulted ceilings and exposed beams, open plan kitchen lounge area with everything you need for a comfortable stay, there is a charming and pretty double bedroom decorated in a country cottage design and separate bathroom. Willow cottage has a cosy second bedroom with bunk beds for extra guests.
We like the country life with all our animals, which do make us laugh a lot with their silly ways, and I feel so lucky to get up every morning and have the views of the North downs. It's nice to have friends and guest enjoy it as much as myself and my partner Mick.
laurain wallace purchased this cottage in 1970
My partners parents bought the property, to get out of London. They fancied a bit of the good life. I moved here about 7 years ago after meeting Mick on a building site in 2000, at first I found it rather remote from the town life, but to be honest we are very central for many thing, Dover, London, beautiful coast lines, Canterbury and even a pizza delivery service which we never had when I first moved here.
The fantastic views of the North downs from the cottages and the abundant wildlife you can watch from the comfort of your patio area or take a stroll up the garden and feed the chickens, ducks and geese, Bubble and Squeak our Alpacas love a piece of apple.

Very impressed very warm welcome and wonderful relaxing atmosphere, everything you need would definitely come back again.
The property was a great size for small family, with own kitchen, large bathroom and great little lounge room... beautiful relaxed setting. We stayed with my partner and son in the last week of a four week holiday, we walked to the train station (about 15-20min) to get into Maidstone. Lovely relaxing stay, able to cook our own food, place to kick the football and loved the quiet setting. Thanks Lauriane for being a lovely host!
A wonderful base from which to explore Kent and London. Immaculately kept cottage in a lovely, peaceful area...a pefect place to return to after busy days out in London. Our hostess, Laurain, was so welcoming and we arrived to all we needed for a nice cup of tea and coffee. Train and bus close enough so we didn't need a car at all. We were enchanted by the place and can't wait to book in again.
I stayed in Williow Cottage for 3 weeks, heavily pregnant and alone with my 2 year old son to be nearby to family whilst visiting from the country we live, so was a little apprehensive but upon arrival I was greeted by the very warm and friendly owners and felt instantly reassured. The farm is very safe and perfect for children. The cottage itself was spotless, spacious and had everything I could have possibly needed. The owner had added to very sweet finishing touches and it's clear that a lot of thought had gone into decorating the property.
Opening the doors each morning so such lovely views of the horse and alpacas and green fields would always bring a smile to my face.
The 2 farm dogs were particularly friendly and my son and I fell in love with them.
The owner was always on site and was there instantly if I needed anything (for example a paddling pool on a very warm day!)
Lots to do nearby (with a car or taxi).
My only regret is having so many visitors whilst I was there as they all want to book and I'm worried that there won't be any availability next year!
We will definitely be staying again.
We had an amazing week at the farm with Lauraine and Mick. The cottage was clean and comfy and had everything we needed for a great stay. The walks to the downs were great. You can also walk to Harrietsham village with pub/shop and other great pubs and eating places are just a short drive away. Maisie our rottie loved the alpacas, chickens, turkeys, sheep and pigs. Highly recommended 5 star country break. Kev and Rebecca, Kent
Avery warm welcome from Laurain, extremely clean and well appointed cottage with little to nothing missing, remembering naturally that the cottage is self catering. The animals on the small holding are a delight, extremely friendly and obviously happy with their surroundings and conditions. I would certainly recommend this establishment to others.
