We are surrounded by stunning coastal scenery, perfect for days on the beach, walking, crabbing, rockpooling, swimming, surfing and kayaking. The traditional fishing village of Beesands is 0.6 miles away and offers a popular pub and a wonderful seafood cafe (serving local fish and shellfish caught in the bay outside). Beeson Farm offers 5 cottages in total (sleeping between 4-6) perfect for relaxing with friends and family. Each cottage offers comfortable living and sleeping arrangements, well equipped kitchens and their own dedicated outdoor spaces. About Louise Cross

We believe we have managed to do what many people dream of doing - our own escape to the country! We escaped from the rat race of crowded suburbia, having fallen in love with Beeson Farm, an historic, disused and derelict Devon farm nestling in a wonderfully tranquil valley less than a mile from a wonderful, unspoilt beach. We are a family run business and are delighted to offer you beautifully restored cottages which have retained their character whilst providing every comfort. We have achieved AA 4 stars rating and recommendations from the Guardian, Express and Woman magazine. Our environmental efforts have resulted in being awarded a Gold Green Tourism Award.

We offer a range of quality accommodation which is child friendly, dog welcome or pet & feather free and wheelchair accessible. We look forward to welcoming you to our corner of Devon.

We can now also offer you our beautiful, fully equipped, architect designed villa in Kastellos near Rethymnon, Crete. It is most wonderfully and privately located with stunning views of the Aegean Sea and White Mountains, has 3 bedrooms, 3 bath/shower rooms, fully equipped kitchen, lounge, entrance vestibule and a large swimming pool with roman steps. There is a very attractive pool area with BBQ and pool house which contains a kitchenette and shower room so you don't need to go into the villa when you are settled next to the pool. The villa is surrounded by extensive grounds containing trees, shrubs and pretty flower beds.

Louise Cross purchased this cottage in 1997

Why Louise Cross chose South Hams

Beeson Farm is in an idyllic, peaceful, sheltered South Devon valley. Less than a mile from Beesands beach (with great pub and seafood cafe) we are an ideal base for those wishing to explore the SW coastpath, with its lovely beaches and coves. The local beaches are perfect for swimming, surfing, kayaking and fishing, or for quiet picnics. Although we are in a quiet village- all you can hear are the birds and the occasional tractor, we are not remote - the villages of Stokenham and Chillington with village shops, farm shop, great pubs, bus service and the A379 Dartmouth to Plymouth road is less than 2 miles away. The interesting historic towns of Kingsbridge (7 miles) and Dartmouth (8 miles) offer banks, supermarkets and lots of independent and boutique shops. Many wonderful NT houses and gardens are nearby including Greenway (Agatha Christie's house & garden on the banks of the river Dart). Dartmoor is within easy reach for day trips. We hope to welcome you to our delightful corner of Devon.

What makes this cottage unique

Being less than a mile from the beach at Beesands we are ideally situated for walking, spending quality family time on the beach, rockpooling, crabbing and of course swimming in the sea! Children (and adults too!) can play in our play area in the orchard and play table tennis in our games room. We have a badminton net on the lawn in the summer and offer supervised pond dipping in our fenced wildlife pond in the school holidays. There are lovely local green lane and coast path walks, bird spotting, diving, surfing, kayaking, sailing and of course, swimming.

Popular days out include steam railways, boat trips, Paignton Zoo, Plymouth's National Marine Aquarium, Dartmoor and visitor attractions like Woodlands Adventure Park and Pennywell Farm.

At night you can enjoy a superb meal of locally sourced food at one of our local pubs or enjoy a BBQ and star gaze from your patio.

Guestbook comments from the manager

Thank you for such a perfect stay in South Devon. We loved the Linhay, suited our family of 5 beautifully. Our kids had a wonderful time and were so excited to see toys and DVDs and chickens, not to mention the little play area! Thank you for all the special extras for the baby, so thoughtful and it made the travel so much easier for us! Your fudge is divine Louise ... Absolutely loved staying at Beeson Farm. Can't wait to return! Xxx

All you need for a restful refreshing break

  • 5 of 5

The accommodation is clean, warm, well-maintained and above all cosy and comfortable. Every need or detail has been carefully thought through and provided. I received a very warm welcome and cannot recommend the properties more highly.

Beeson Farm is situated close to not just one but a number of stunningly beautiful deserted beaches with clear blue unpolluted water and great vistas of the coast line in both directions. Access to the national trail, the South West Way, is within 5 minutes walk and local towns of Kingsbridge, Dartmouth and Salcombe all within a 40 minute drive.

Would I go again? Absolutely but next time I'm taking the kids as there's so much to do.

Excellent holiday

  • 5 of 5

I booked this cottage because my dad had recently started to use a wheelchair and needed somewhere disabled friendly. This was just the place! Everything about this accommodation was first class - the access to the property, the terrace overlooking the pond, disabled facilities in both bathrooms and wide corridors. We were warmly welcomed by the owners who took time to explain everything and where everything was. Nothing was too much trouble. We had a fabulous break and will definitely booking this property again next year. Thank you

FANTASTIC for those with disabilities!

  • 5 of 5

I was very impressed with The Linhay. On arrival, there was a welcome tray and the property was very warm and welcoming; complete with a fully decorated Christmas tree! I received a very warm, personal, welcome from the owners.

The Linhay was spotlessly clean throughout and very well maintained.

I found the wet-room to be a fantastic asset, as I am mostly wheelchair bound.

There was plenty of space to move around, with well positioned grab-rails. The shower seat was actually a fold-down armchair, which made showering very easy for my carer and I. The Linhay is extremely spacious with good access throughout. (There is a portable ramp provided for ease of access).

Due to its location, it is much to your advantage to have your own transport.

For disabled people and their carers, I would highly recommend a stay at The Linhay. I have already booked a return visit!

A short break at the Linhay.

  • 4 of 5

We found the Linhay to be clean and well maintained, it contained everything you could need for a self catering holiday and a bit more. The owners were welcoming, friendly and always available as well as being a wealth of information about places to see and places to eat in this wonderful part of Devon. My wife has MS and needs to use a wheelchair, it was refreshing to find a property that described itself as being wheelchair friendly and really was! The detailed access statement was absolutely accurate and we were able to access everywhere in the chair, the well equipped wetroom was a delight. So much thought had been given to making the property accessible to the less able, we shall certainly be looking to return and have already recommended to to friends.

Owner's Response: We are so pleased that you both enjoyed your holiday and found the Linhay cottage's disabled facilities met your husband's needs. The view from the sun deck over the wildlife pond is particularly stunning at the moment with the water lilies in full bloom and the dragonflies flitting over it.
