Sea views over harbour. Bedroom 2 is a twin with sea views. Bedroom 3 sleeps three with two 2ft 6 bunks plus a 3 ft single bed. Second bathroom has bath, gas boiler heated shower over bath and basin, no toilet. The second toilet is separate with a small basin. Generous sized kitchen. Electric single oven. Gas hob. Dishwasher. Washer-drier. Microwave. Fridge freezer. TV. Small table for dinning. Lounge with two double futons which seat at least three each. One further chair. Bean bag. Bench seating near windows. Large dining table. Staircase leading to roof patio. TV (smart TV with iplayer). DVD player. Video. ipod dock (30pin). Gas central heating and double glazing. Only cleaned on your day of arrival/departure. No towels or linen supplied. Duvets and pillows are supplied.

We have the Penthouse (3 bedroom) apartment 1 on the second floor and a smaller (2 bedroom) apartment 2 on the first floor above an ice cream shop and general store. It is conveniently located for enjoying the beach, Cobb and the general hustle and bustle of the harbour in summer months. In winter months the wild seas crashing over the Cobb can often be seen without leaving the apartments. Full price and availability details are on our own website (not on this site). About Ali Stait

I live near Exeter with my husband, three teenage boys, two dogs,six chickens and one tortoise. My husband and I are Chartered Accountants by training. I consider myself very lucky to run Harbour House with my brother who lives in Lyme. We believe we have one of the best spots in Lyme and our objective is to make sure that if you return to Lyme you will want stay with us again. We have a high percentage of returning visitors every year with some who have been coming for over 15 years..

Why Ali Stait chose Lyme Regis & West Dorset

Harbour House has been in our family since 1953 when it was purchased by our grandmother. It has been run as holiday lets since the 1980s, and had major and minor re-furbishments since them. My brother and I took over the reigns in 2008 to give our parents and Aunt a rest!

The property is in the heart of the popular Cobb and Harbour area and is one of the closest holidays lets to the Cobb (if not the closest). During summer months it is in the centre of the hustle and bustle of the harbour and Cobb. The perfect spot for people and boat watching and very convenient for the beach.

(Note: Apt 2 was out of our ownership briefly, between 2007 and 2011)

What makes this apartment unique

The location of this property sets it apart from many others, in particular Apartment 1 with it's rooftop patio which has panoramic views along the coast in both directions and out over the Cobb and harbour. There is plenty of space for dining and private sunbathing too.

There are numerous restaurants, take-aways and pubs within easy reach, both in the Cobb area and a few minutes walk away in the main town. In winter months when Lyme is almost deserted at times, the rough seas can be seen without leaving the property. With the windows open the waves can be heard lapping on the beach at high tide.

Many of the rooms have fantastic sea and harbour views.

Excellent location with stunning views

We have now stayed at this stunning apartment for the past 3 years (flat 2), and this year we stayed in flat 1 with the rooftop terrace. I cannot recommend this place enough. It is a quiet location overlooking the Cobb and Harbour, but yet a stone's throw from all the amenities including the Cobb Arms which has lovely food. Ali is friendly and very accommodating. There is also parking which is fantastic as Lyme Regis has limited parking (especially in the busy season) so this is a great added extra. We would recommend this to anybody and will be back soon!

A gem of a property – Already booked for 2017

Purely for background, we have been coming to Lyme Regis for years for our annual ‘staycation’, although until 2014 we used nearby Seaton as a base, as a close friend had a second home there.

When the option of a holiday base at ‘mates rates’ in Seaton unfortunately went away, we started looking at Lyme Regis directly, and in 2015 we stayed in one of the flats in Ozone Terrace right by the Lyme Cobb Beach.

Fast forward to July 2016, when we stayed in Penthouse Apartment 1 for an absolutely joyous (and much superior) week, and I will mention that I have already made a July 2017 booking, and see no reason why this will not be repeated in 2018 and beyond.

The images on Owners Direct dedicated to Penthouse Apartment 1 do not do the property justice, with the exception of the Lounge area. The roof patio is much larger than shown and there are sun loungers, extra folding chairs and a barbecue up there.

The owners have thought of everything and provided a solution, with the ‘general store’ style shops at the street level of the apartment selling perishables (e.g Milk) and any essentials not already in the apartment.

The property is immaculate and the standard of facilities provided is very high; e.g. TV * 2, fridge/freezer, microwave, dishwasher and washer/dryer are all quality brands. The en-suite in the double bedroom is a necessity for an apartment of this size and again is fitted to a high standard, as is the main bath/shower room and toilet.

We ate out in the extremely good Cobb pubs and restaurants, but there is an electric oven with gas hob, cooking utensils, pots and pans, etc. needed for cooking in.

We spent most days on the sandy Cobb beach, with post-meal evenings spent on the roof patio enjoying our own company, then using the two extremely comfortable (and very high quality) futon sofas to seat the family for web-surfing and/or TV watching.

Our sons are 20, 18 and 16 so we did 'grown up' things, but for younger families there is an amusement arcade, crazy golf and table tennis. As a previous reviewer has mentioned, the property is in a superb location for families with young children, as the sandy beach is literally a two minute walk from Harbour House, and there are also shops, toilets, restaurants and pubs on your doorstep in the event you need pretty much anything.

In summary, I cannot recommend Penthouse Apartment 1 of Harbour House highly enough; it is an absolute gem that I wish I had discovered some years ago.

first class holiday accommodation for family

The property is in a fantastic location for a family with young children. Our group comprised 2 seniors , 2 adults and 3 children under 10. The flat has a good layout with very good fixtures and fittings, very clean with a great roof top terrace which was ideal for relaxing and a BBQ. We had intended to do some touring but we never left Lyme Regis during our week's stay, with a lovely beach, fossil hunting, amusements and good local restaurants nobody wanted to explore further. We were very lucky with the weather but bad weather would seriously reduce your options and getting in and out of Lyme Regis can be tiresome.The owner provided accurate information about the flat and was generally helpful.

One or two minute walk to the beaches, harbour and start of the Cobb. The main town is a level walk along the sea-front.


Car not needed once you arrive in Lyme (unless you plan to do day trips to the surrounding area). One parking space included with Flat 2. Further, or for Flat 1, 1 space included 1st April to end of September. Over the winter spaces can usually be booked in a nearby private car park.
