About the property

Shepherds Rest Holiday Cottage in Great Ayton, Nr. North Yorkshire Moors, England - Perfect Base For Both The Outdoor Enthusiast And Those Looking For Rest And Relaxation

Shepherds Rest is located in a quiet hamlet on a small country lane at the foot of the Cleveland Hillls. The only traffic is that for a handful of nearby farms. Attached to the owner's home, the property provides superb holiday accommodation in a former 18th Century barn which has been sympathetically converted into a stylish and contemporary living space. Exposed beams and wide reclaimed floorboards add to the overall elegance of the scheme. Two unique and spacious bedrooms each with their own bathroom/shower facilities are bright and cheerful with sumptuous soft furnishings. The property is constantly heated by an eco-friendly under ground source heat pump in addition to a log wood burner for those cold winter days.

Wonderful, peaceful and relaxing.

  • 5 of 5

The property is of amazing quality. Beds are sooo comfortable. The situation is ideal, close to amenities but in a quiet little village with a no-through road so only farm traffic and the odd resident passing. The furnishings are tasteful and characterful unlike many places I have stayed where cheap and cheerful seems to be all that is required. Wonderful hosts who will tell you all about the area and who also encourage wildlife into the garden (a big thumbs up from me). We had the most relaxing week there and all things considered would say it was the best self catering accomodation we have ever stayed in. Thanks to John and Amanda.

Excellent cottage in a beautiful location. We stayed here with two children and it was a great base to visit the North East. Very comfortable beds and well equipped kitchen so eating in was a pleasure.
