We booked magnoon villa for one week, but landed up staying for 4 weeks, so i think that speaks for it self. Magnoon villa was far better than what we expected, so peaceful and homely, with the birds and the monkeys, and watching the rice ripen while we were there. Mahinde and his family made us very welcome, if we had a problem they dealt with it immediately. We enjoyed the barbeque, which we shared with the family plus several children in the neighbourhood, it was lovely to see them joining in with us, and the curry was very nice, but far too much. Even though it was 2 kilometres from the beach, it was lovely to walk sometimes and meet all the locals, so friendly, and wanting to talk to us and wanting to show us there homes, and inviting us in for a cup of tea, where do you find that in the uk? We were very sad to leave, because we had such an enjoyable holiday. If you have never tried self catering in sri lanka, give Magnoon a try, you wont regret it. Thankyou Peter for letting us share your home

We stayed at Magnoon in feb 2011 and had the honour of being the first paying guests to stay there, what to say? The stunning location, the beautiful villa equipped with everything you could possibly need, the lovely decor, the comfortable beds, etc, etc, this truly was paradise, the owner and his manager have thought of everything including milk, sugar, tea and bottled water. Mahinda the manager lives just over the wall and wandered across a couple times for a drink and chat but was never intrusive and made clear we could call him anytime, day or night, if we had a problem, the only problem we had was leaving this wonderful place at the end of our stay. the owner was lovely to talk to on the phone and sent us a map of the local area. it is ideally situated for exploring the south of the island both on the coast and inland, we had breakfast at the villa, lunch out and gratefully returned to the tranquility of Magnoon for dinner. Basils Italian restaurant in hikkaduwa do ravioli to die for. We will return as we loved it so much at Magnoon, thank you Peter and Mahinda
Magnoon Villa is located in a small residential hamlet just 2kms from the beach at Narigama. Narigama is at the centre of a long sandy bay running from the busy tourist town of Hikkaduwa to the fishing village of Dodanduwa. The coast road from Hikkaduwa to Narigama is lined with shops, bars, beach restaurants and hotels. At Hikkaduwa there is an extensive coral sanctuary protected by a reef which can be explored by scuba diving, snorkelling or by glass-bottomed boat. At Narigama itself the sandy beach becomes wider and much more attractive, ideal for swimming and surfing. The busy town of Galle with its historical fort, many shops and a busy market is only 20kms away. River boat safaris can be experienced at Madhu Ganga about 15 kms away. Many other attractive beaches are within easy reach - Unawatuna, Bentota and Mirissa. There are many other places to visit, including ancient Buddist temples.
