Cottage in St Minver, Nr. Rock, Cornwall - Peaceful rural location close to the coast

Millstream is a 19th century stone cottage, formerly part of a mill, located in a peaceful and secluded position. Millstream is a lovely holiday cottage for 4 people (plus a baby) and offers comfortable accommodation with many traditional features combined with the latest modern conveniences including WIFI. The cottage has single level accommodation and is furnished and equipped to a high standard with a modern kitchen & bathroom. There is an enclosed child friendly south facing lawned garden and patio as well as lots of parking.

About Andrew & Louise Windeler

I was introduced to Rock as a 6 week old baby and have been coming to the area since for my summer holidays. My wife and I have 2 children (young adults now) and they too have enjoyed the fun and enjoyment of the area. As a family we have enjoyed a keen association with the water - from Water sports at Rock to surfing at Polzeath and feel very much at home in North Cornwall - despite living 250 miles away.

Why Andrew & Louise Windeler chose North Cornwall

My family associations with Rock and the surrounding area started in the 1950s when my Grandparents bought a holiday cottage there and subsequently retired to Porthilly in the early 1970's. My parents have continued to live locally since and my family will continue to visit the area for many years - we couldn't bear to stop coming!

We decided it was time to have a home of our own here too - so here it is - Millstream. We have worked hard to restore it and it is now a lovely comfortable cottage that we hope you will enjoy too.

It is rural but is also within easy reach of beautiful scenery, beaches, villages and towns.

Notes:
Notes on accommodation: The main accommodation is open plan and we have refurbished it to a style that compliments a cottage of this era. There is WIFI and a wood burning stove that gives a good heat in the colder weather. The bathroom has a tiled floor and the bedrooms are carpeted. Night storage heaters heat the cottage beautifully and there is full double glazing throughout. Outside: There are private lawned gardens outside and a large south facing patio. There is a small stream running adjacent to the garden which is a lovely feature and peaceful to listen to. The lawn and patio are fenced in and safe for children. We have added a shed to the garden which is large enough for bikes and to store surfboards and other beach equipment and wetsuits. Patio furniture is provided as is a barbecue and a washing line. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Bed linen & towels not included so please bring your own. Alternatively bed linen hire from a local company is available by arrangement - please ask for details. Our cottage is checked and fully cleaned prior to every let.

Great location relaxing winter stay

We were looking forward to a relaxing week, with ventures out to great restaurants and we weren't disappointed. The cottage is in a convenient quiet location, it is very comfortable, well equipped and homely. Great value too, would certainly recommend a stay here to all our friends.

Lovely little cottage

We stayed at Millstream cottage for a week with our little boys (2 & 4) and had a lovely time.The cottage is well maintained, clean and well thought out with everything you could possibly need. The owners were very accommodating with requests and were quick to respond to emails. It's a lovely quiet location away from the noise of the more 'touristy' resorts but still in easy reach of lots of attractions. We found that Trevathan farm shop just down the road was an ideal spot for a relaxing with a laid back lunch/ice cream/cream tea while the boys were entertained by the park and animals. The PYO strawberries were also excellent! Our favourite local beach was Daymer Bay... both places are worth a visit!

Delightful 2 bed cottage. Well equipped and maintained. Good location for Rock, Padstow (via ferry) and North Coast resorts (e.g. Polzeath and Port Issac). 40 mins to Eden.

Lovely place to stay

So pleased to arrive and find the accommodation very clean. We are quite "fussy" about this so were very happy. Warm, well equipped and comfortable we spent a fantastic week at Millstream ( with the bonus of sunshine all week!) and will come again when we next holiday in Cornwall.

"delightful holiday in a lovely location"

lovely little cottage, the first time for my husband and daughter to Cornwall - and we all loved it, perfectly situated for all the places we wanted to visit, the cottage was very comfortable in a lovely quiet spot away from all noise (apart from the birds), we will be back to the area and hopefully the cottage sometime, and a special thanks to the owner Andrew, for helping us out with the access on our arrival date, it was really appreciated. Thank you.

Coast/Beach:

Rock, Porthilly, Daymer Bay and Polzeth are a 3 to 4 mile drive away so offer a good choice. Rock/Porthilly is famous for sailing and water sports and the ferry goes from here to Padstow. Daymer Bay is a large beach with safe swimming and sand dunes. Polzeath has many rock pools (some large enough to swim in at low tide) is fun for surfers and has a lively feel with shops and cafés.

Travel:

The use of a car is recommended in order to access the area fully. The nearest railway station is Bodmin Parkway about 15 miles away. Newquay airport is about 20 miles away.

Further Details:

St Minver is well placed for easy access to local shops in Rock and Polzeath and the larger town of Wadebridge is 10 minutes away by car. Here there are is a wider variety of shops, supermarkets and banks. The area is very well served for restaurants - Rick Stein has several in Padstow - we particularly enjoy The Waterfront and Café India in Polzeath, St Kew Inn and No 1 in Rock. Of course there are many others too numerous to mention. The ferry runs from Rock to Padstow all year and in the evening a water taxi is available to Padstow restaurants. Fishing and pleasure trips are run from the harbour. The Camel Trail (the old railway line) is fun for cyclists. It runs alongside the estuary from Padstow to Wadebridge and on to Bodmin and bikes can be hired locally. The quaint coastal village of Port Isaac (location for Doc Martin) is about 15 mins away by car. There are lots of things to do in the area - for example the Eden Project, Falmouth Maritime Museum and the legends of King Arthur at Tintagel.
