About Hilary Collins

I live in France and Scotland with my husband and 2 teenage sons. We built the house and still work and live here. We love the tranquillity of the area mixed with the ability to be in bustling Aix in a few minutes.

Hilary Collins purchased this villa in 1993

Why Hilary Collins chose Aix-en-Provence area

We love Vauvenargues because of the fantastic scenery in the area. It is twenty minutes from Aix en Provence with its wonderful Provençal markets and restaurants. The area is easily accessible with Marseilles airport 40 minutes hours drive away.

What makes this villa unique

Unique benefits of the property

The villa is suitable for an extended family with 2 of the bedrooms in the ground floor annexe, attached to the villa but with a seperate entrance. The property is in peaceful countryside looking onto Mount St Victoire which was painted by Cezanne and Château Picasso is in the centre of the village. There are plenty of mapped walks to take advantage of around St Victoire.

Modern well equipped villa with stunning views

  • 5 of 5

Truly amazing Villa. Set high in the mountains, scenery around the the villa & pool side is spectacular. The property has everything you would want & need. Kitchen was really well equipped. Satellite TV kept us & kids evening's entertained, especially with the the Olympics on! Owners, Hilary & Eshan, are very friendly and looked after us very well. Kids spent all day in the lush pool, with the stunning back drop of the moutain. Highly recommend the stay here, small town with a Spar and a fantastic pizza Restuarant nearby (Chez La Garde). Aix only 25 mins away for a day trip and Marseille under 1 hr. We will revisit this place as we thoroughly loved the peaceful environment.

Fantastic villa in a beautiful location

  • 5 of 5

This is the perfect house for a tranquil stay in the foothills of Mont St Victoire. It is remote but nearby Vauvenargues has a well stocked shop, bar and restaurants. The house is extremely comfortable, finished to a high standard and has a very well equipped kitchen. It is well placed for exploring nearby Aix, walking in beautiful countryside or visiting vineyards for sampling some excellent wines or you could just stay by the pool all day! We will definitely return for another stay.

Owner's Response: Thankyou for your great review. The villa is out of the village itself but in an area where each villa has at least 1 hectare of land so definitely tranquil and people are around if you need them! I'm so glad you intend to return and you are most welcome.

Perfect holiday in the perfect house!

  • 5 of 5

We have just returned from a blissful 3 week holiday at this wonderful house. The location is delightfully peaceful, yet a short drive to Aix En Provence and many other nearby towns and villages. Travelling with children, parents and grand-parents, the layout of the house was ideal and there is plenty of space to allow everyone their privacy.

The views are incredible and, with every room offering French Doors opening onto a terrace or balcony, every tranquil vista can be enjoyed.

Internally, the house is of an impeccable standard, tastefully furnished and with every amenity. The swimming pool was a hit with our kids and many days were spent relaxing in the sunshine and admiring the panoramic views of Montagne Sainte Victoire.

For us it was the perfect holiday in a fantastic house!

"My Escape"

  • 5 of 5

After four holidays here I consider this wonderful escape as 'mine' for it truly feels like my own home in the wonderful Provence countryside. From chilling beside the private pool with breathtaking views, to cycling up the hills looking across to the magnificent St.Victoire, to relaxing sipping wine in Aix after meandering around the market. Oh I could go on and on. I defy anybody not to love this secret hideaway.

What a great find! We have just returned from a weeks holiday at this location. If you want a beautiful, roomy house, with high a standard of finishing, quality furnishings this is it. The location is quite remote, ten minute drive to nearest local shop, twenty minutes to nearest supermarket. If you want to look out on rolling hills and abundance of trees and very blue skies, this is for you. This is the first holiday We have had, where we have not got restless after a few days. Once the shopping was done, we only left the house one other time. There was no need. Lovely swimming pool. Verandas along most sides of the house, so you can move it the shade as the sun moves, if you wish.

The rooms are. Very well furnished and big. There is so much space here. Plenty of outside furniture as well. We ate outside very day, in a covered are just outside then kitchen. The owners sadly we never met, but were very helpful with e mail communication and swift payment of deposit return.

Would I return? Definitely!

relaxing getaway

  • 5 of 5

Perfect home from home with everything you need for a relaxing rural holiday, fantastic pool with stunning views great support from owner and property manager, Extremely well equipt kitchen and lovely outside eating areas. Internet worked well and uk sky tv, comfortable beds and spacious living spaces. car essential but only 30 mins from Aix -en-Provence with the most amazing markets, 50 mins from Marseille and a couple of hours from Monaco so lots of great days out. Locally there are many walks around and up the St Victoire Mountains and surrounding forests and lakes.

Our party consisted of two families with three teenage children between us and there was plenty of room for us all to have our own space. The house was very clean and tidy I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet holiday in the area.
