About CATHERINE JOICE
I have lived in Norfolk all my life. Daughter of a well known Norfolk farming family I married a farmer in 1963. I worked doing farm accounts and then in 1970 I started renovating the old cottages which I had bought in 1968. This grew into a letting business which I have been doing for over 40 years.
CATHERINE JOICE purchased this Cottage in 1968
Why CATHERINE JOICE chose Colkirk
Originally the home of one of our farm tractor drivers when he moved into his own bungalow I pulled down the old part of the cottage and rebuilt the kitchen, bathroom and a new bedroom. This is a very comfortable well equipped cottage with plenty of well fenced outside space

Well-equipped, cosy, yet quite spacious, cottage in great location.
Clean and well-maintained.
Friendly, helpful owner.
Great to have enclosed garden for dog.
Ground floor bedroom quite compact - our 20yr old son only stayed with us a couple of nights and it was perfect for him, but someone else might struggle with lack of storage space.
Nicely decorated throughout - loved the pictures!
Especially nice to have large kitchen table for us all to sit around.
We would certainly stay again - if Catherine would have us!
So glad you enjoyed the cottage and would welcome you all again
Very pretty, welcoming cottage
Hillside Cottage is a very clean, comfortable, well-equipped cottage. It has a lovely secluded garden and is situated in a peaceful location. The beds are very comfortable and there are two bathrooms, one on each level, which is excellent for those with mobility problems or for a large family. We received a very warm welcome from the owner who was very friendly and helpful. The small town of Fakenham is a five minute drive away and there are beaches within a twenty minute drive. The Hourglass is an excellent pub/restaurant in the nearby village of Sculthorpe. We had a wonderful holiday in the cottage and are looking forward to returning next year. We would highly recommend this property.
So pleased to hear that you enjoyed your stay in the cottage and look forward to seeing you again next year
Beautiful cottage, great location!
Out stay at Hillside was just perfect. The cottage is like home from home. We were celebrating a special birthday. With two dogs we didn't want to leave them, so we drove to wells beach. It was stunning for a dog friendly beach. We would recommend this cottage. Not to far from the sea. Ideal location. Catherine was very friendly. And helpful. We will be returning. Thanks Catherine for a most enjoyable short break.
Thank you. So pleased you enjoyed your short stay and hope to be back again
This is a brilliant spacious and clean cottage in a lovely peaceful setting. Well equipped kitchen and generous sized garden which was a great place for 4 children and our dog to play. The BBQ and patio area was a bonus too. There was also a park for the children just a short walk away. The Crown Pub in the villages served delicious food (big portions) and were really good when we all went in (dog included).
I would definitely this cottage to anyone looking for a relaxing place to stay but with the amenities of Fakenham close by (in Fakenham) and the beach a short drive away (in Wells
Thank you to the owner for a lovely holiday.
Great that you all enjoyed your holiday staying in Hillside Cottage
My wife and I have first used this cottage about 7 years ago and we are still using this cottage. The cottage is always clean and well maintained. The property is well proportioned with 2 bathrooms,4 good bedrooms a good sized kitchen diner and the owner allows dogs which is good for us.
The owner does provide good customer service i have recommended this cottage to relatives and they now come with us, We love the cottage and the area hence why we return each year,
Good to see you back again and know how much you appreciate the cottage and the surrounding area
Hillside cottage was ideal for three generations of our family - grandparents, son and daughter-in-law and two grandchildren aged 12 and 9. Catherine made us very welcome and the cottage was well equipped, warm, spacious and comfortable. We had good dry and sunny weather all week. The fish and chip shop at the next village was useful. As we are all interested in wildlife we had very good outings to Sculthorpe Moor for the Hawk and Owl Trust, Pensthorpe, the sealife centre at Hunstanton and Titchwell the RSPB reserve which has wonderful new hides after the flood devastation of December 2012. We saw the barn owl flying across the meadow and the cottage garden on most days. On quieter days without the young family we visited some the familiar villages of the north coast and some of the lovely old churches and on the way home we went to Castle Acre and Oxburgh Hall. It was a relaxing and yet action packed week. We would love to come again.
So pleased you enjoyed your stay at Hillside. I was especially pleased that you saw the barn owl frequently during your stay. It was a pleasure to have you as visitors and I hope that I shall see you again
