My wife, myself, and our 4 kids are just finishing a 2 month stay at Sandfiddler, and it's been great. I've stayed at roughly a dozen different homes here on OBX over the past 30 years, and I've come to realize that rental homes are largely differentiated by their owners. Owners who care about their homes are more likely to have a home that makes guests happy. That is certainly the case here. A caring owner has resulted in a great house.
The amenities of this home, its location, and comparative value is what attracted us to book and stay here for so long. We're very glad we did, as everything has proven to meet or exceed our expectations. The kids don't want to go home. If you decide to stay here, I recommend bringing or renting some bikes, since it's so close to "downtown" Duck. Getting there or down to the beach on bike is super easy, but you can do it on foot as well. Should you choose to drive to the beach, there is parking right next to the primary Four Seasons boardwalk. Makes getting little kids and their "stuff" to the beach pretty easy.
Having stayed here through the recent hurricane Matthew brush with the OBX, I can say that being on elevated ground is a plus. There were many homes in the area that were flooded, but there were no problems here. The higher elevation allows for some pretty nice sunrises and sunsets, although the actual horizon may be just out of view in some cases. The greenery behind the house and pool is a nice view break between the neighbors.
All of us want to come back to Sandfiddler, so don't book up all the time! :^)
I recently retired and gained the opportunity to stay in this great house for 6 months (SEP-MAR) while my wife and I recharged and found what was next for us. Very centrally located in the great village of Duck. 10 minutes walk to the beach or all the shops and restaurants. Great pool and spa in the backyard and great community pools and gym facilities minutes away. See views of the ocean out the front windows and sunsets out the back! We have been vacationing in Duck for 14 years and this house and this neighborhood are tops. Highly recommended.
