Sleeps 4. 2 bedroom cottage “Ghyllcroft” is nestled in a quiet location near a babbling brook in the beautiful Wharfedale village of Hebden, 1.5 miles from Grassington in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. A traditional lead miners cottage with great views, furnished to a high standard with modern facilities. Ideal base for walkers and sightseers alike. Fantastic walks from the doorstep and nearby places to visit including Skipton, Pateley Bridge, Burnsall amongst others.
"This cottage is a treat of a retreat and we were so fortunate to choose this one from the many cottages available to rent in the area. It is exceptionally well appointed and nestles in idyllic countryside with a babbling beck running close by – could not wish to have a more delightful place to stay. We have already booked a return visit." Doreen, South Yorkshire – May 2013
"Thank you so much for allowing us to stay in your cottage. We absolutely loved the cottage, its location and the wide range of activities that were available. The sun shone, we walked and cycled in the Dales, and the children swam in the river. It was ideal for a family of 4. The pictures are very accurate and the neighbours welcoming. Thanks again."

"We have had one our best holidays this week, in your lovely cottage. Did six walks from one of your books - loved everyone! Thank you Sue"

This former lead miners cottage is in a great location with so many wonderful walks from the doorstep in a beautiful area. The cottage is very comfortable and warm, and the owners seem to have thought of everything, including a good collection of maps, and a small welcome box on arrival. A real tonic staying here.
We had a lovely stay at Ghyllcroft for 1 week in July. The weather was hit and miss, but that did not spoil our enjoyment. There are beautiful and fun walks from the door step, so there is no need to use the car everyday. Our 10 year old had a great time exploring and he loved the sheep and cows coming straight up to the windows.
Hedben, is a non touristy village set next to Grassington, where you can find a handy range of shops. It really feels like a getaway! If you want to go further afield, then the main areas are close by. We drove as far as Whitby and Scarborough, but also visited the close by Bolton Abbey and Brimham rocks. The Wuthering Heights moor walk was our highlight. For art and craft lovers, Haworth has a selection was independent galleries which sell wares from local artists. I could have spent the whole day there, burning a hole in my purse.
The cottage has a lovely front garden to sit in and have breakfast. There are good laundry facilities for all the wet hiking clothes and muddy socks. The house is packed with books and walking maps, so there is no need to bring your own. There are DVDs and games as well. The house was decorated with local prints and art, which reflected how much thought had gone into referencing the outside with the inside. Sue was very thoughtful with providing a hamper and necessities for us, as we were visiting from Australia. It was lovely to have that personal touch and I would definitely recommend the cottage to my friends and family.
We have recently returned from a wonderful week’s holiday at Ghyllcroft Cottage. It was exactly as advertised – clean, comfortable, well equipped, tastefully furnished and decorated, a real home from home. On our arrival although chilly outside, we found the cottage to be warm and cosy and were delighted by a generous “welcome basket” provided by the owners.
We had good communication with Sue and Martin prior to our arrival and they were very helpful in quickly sorting out a couple of small issues which arose during our stay. They provided a very helpful instruction and information manual regarding the cottage itself and the surrounding areas of Hebden and Grassington. For walkers local maps were provided along with numerous books of Dales Walks, some of which started from the cottage door. We enjoyed a walk up the valley (or Ghyll) to Scala Waterfall just ten minutes away.
From the kitchen and bathroom windows were lovely views onto the nearby hillside fields, which as it was springtime had lots of sheep and lambs grazing on them. On sunny days we enjoyed being able to sit out in the pretty and private front garden and were amazed at the number of different birds that we saw during our stay.
In summary Ghyllcroft Cottage provides really excellent holiday accommodation in a beautiful part of the Yorkshire Dales.
Thank you Sue and Martin for the special stay we had in your delightful cottage.
Having been a regular visitor to the Dales for over 30 odd years and stayed in many holiday rentals, we can honestly say that this was the best cottage we have ever stayed in. Unusually, the cottage was even better than the photos though the listing description was very accurate. It was extremely comfortable, clean and well equipped, particularly the kitchen. The decor was delightful and good quality with lovely little touches - everything was provided. The were very helpful and friendly when booking. Our Dutch friends who stayed with us for the first week were utterly charmed by the cottage, the area and the pub lunches!! The many walks from the cottage were a bonus although we couldn't do as many as we wanted due to the weather - to be expected at this time of the year. There were clear and detailed instructions and information on what to visit and see as well as plenty of further suggestions from previous visitors. As owners of an upmarket gite in South West France, we are quite particular about standards and this cottage was faultless. We had a wonderful fortnight and will certainly be returning - why look for anywhere else?!
Just returned from a week's holiday staying in this lovely cottage - definitely one of the most well-quipped cottages we have ever stayed in. All the little extras I had brought with me, following our experience in other cottages, were not needed; Sue and Martin had thought of everything! Welcome pack much appreciated too, especially as we arrived late, following a horrendous journey.
We loved the location too - peaceful, close to great walks and not far from Grassington.
We hope to return to this cottage again to explore more of this beautiful area.
A beautiful cottage in an ideal location in Yorkshire. The cottage is superbly equipped - everything has been thought - the cottage was fantastic - the owners have really spent a lot of thought into making their guests feel really at home! Along with the welcome pack the cottage is extremely well furnished, equipped, comfortable and cosy - whatever the time of year! Fantastic walks from the Cottage, a great local shop and a very warm welcome from the local pub that serves great food! We look forward to our next visit!
1.5 miles to Grassington. 8 miles to Pateley Bridge. 10.5 miles to Skipton.
Hebden has good village facilities, with a farm shop, a friendly pub which serves great food and a lovely tearoom (serves daytime meals). These are all within a 5 minute walk from the cottage.
There are very good pubs/restaurants in Grassington and many others nearby, including the Fountaine at Linton (2.5 miles), the Red Lion at Burnsall (2 miles), the famous Angel Inn at Hetton (6.5 miles) and lots more..
