Chris and I have lived in France for 28 years and have enjoyed restoring our home and bringing up our four children in this beautiful part of France. Chris now works in Brussels and I spend a lot of time there but this still remains our family home that we love to come back to regularly.
Debbie Peters purchased this house in 1987
I just wanted to let you know how much we all enjoyed it. The house was a dream, it was like it had been specifically set up for our needs!! Books everywhere, a mountain of lego and toys, a piano that was in constant use, lovely warm pool (esp cos the weather wasn’t too warm!) and a divine garden with swings, which were a huge hit especially the rope ladder. A really well stocked kitchen. We were just sad we didn’t have more time to read more books, try out more recipes and visit more of the area, the house was so relaxing and beautiful none of us wanted to go anywhere! Every evening was spent in the garden, and every morning we got croissants from the shop, making friends with local cats on the way. The kids all learnt to ask for baguettes and croissants in French. The village was also really intriguing, is the small chateau at the junction of your road abandoned? And what about the beautiful tumbledown buildings in the village? Our kids were fascinated by the cobwebby windows.
We loved the way you hadn’t purged the place of your family’s presence too. Great family shots everywhere. Please pass on our thanks to Rob and his wife also. He was really helpful while we were there. All in all it was fabulous.
From the moment we arrived, we couldn’t believe how beautiful this cottage looks from the outside. It’s simply picture postcard and we felt that every time we came back from doing something. The cottage inside is very spacious and has absolutely everything you can think of and more. The garden is so peaceful and the kids loved playing in the swimming pool. Overall the whole place far exceeded our expectations.
The house is situated in a very peaceful area but with easy access to the local village (5 min walk), the Loire, Amboise & the surrounding area. The house was welcoming with little touches like flowers from the garden in every room. It is very spacious - plenty of room for a family of 4+. The garden is beautiful with plenty of room for eating outside, ball games, badminton etc. The pool is a really good size. Overall we couldn't wish for a better holiday gite.
This house is fully equipped for smaller children, with a lots of toys, books, a fence around the pool. Our children had an amazing time. We were there during a very hot week and at times just hang around the garden and Pool. Plenty of space for 2 families. And so charming.....i can really see us coming back. One small point for approval: the garden furniture is ready for renewal but was still functional.
Ab Fab ,we hD a fantastic time, feels like we know the family by all the pics of them, and need to know the latest events !! Lovely little village, amboise was beautiful , we went quite often. The only drawback was the midgets, we were bitten to death, so unfortunately we didn't go outdoors in the evening.. On the whole we would love to stay again in the future.. Thanks Debbie for a lovely time shared in your home xx
Our family and us had a wonderful time at Debbie's place. It's charming and cozy and had a wonderful yard for our kids to run around in. The location is great and we did day trips to the castles around including Chennoceaux, Chaumont, and others. The bakery down the street is wonderful and we made daily trips to get our baguettes. Also, really enjoyed meeting the neighbours and had a wonderful meal prepared by them.
Thanks again, and we look forward to coming back in the future.
We were a party of 7; 6 adults and 1 child. Space was plentiful, bedrooms quiet enough for little one to sleep, whilst adults relaxed, ate and drank. This is the owners home, so has that comfortable sense of being lived in, yet was well presented enough for us to feel like we were being treated to a relaxing few days' holiday. Lovely, huge garden (that we didn't use because of the weather) and a well-maintained pool make this a perfect spot for a family break - with or without children.
Well equipped, quiet, comfortable, charming and definitely somewhere I would return to.
