This newly built (2011) contemporary beach house sits in arguably the best position in Jolly Harbour. It enjoys views to both the main beach and also has the advantage of overlooking the entrance to the Marina so that there is an ever changing vista of beautiful yachts entering and leaving the harbour. The house has been carefully located to maximise the effect of gentle Caribbean breezes that cool the insulated rooms meaning that AC is hardly ever needed. All contemporary Italian furniture and fittings have been carefully chosen to enhance the peaceful atmosphere that Out of the Blue creates. As you enter the property the open plan interior allows the visitor to focus on the beach. the blue sea and sky all of which combine to create a perfect and relaxing environment. We believe that Out of the Blue enjoys probably the best and most private position in Jolly Harbour. Nestling on a quiet cove away from the sometimes intrusive vendors and "beach walkers" to be found on the main beach and yet just a brief stroll to the convenience of all the bars, restaurants, supermarket and facilities that make Jolly Harbour your ideal holiday location. A spacious TV lounge and fully equipped kitchen are complimented by a huge terrace with dining for 8- 16 and white leather sofas. 3 double and 1 twin bedded rooms are all en suite with AC and TV. A king size US BBQ sits alongside the outside bar next the infinity pool and beach. The self contained cottage adds a further double bed room and is available on application at an additional cost to those shown here. PLease note arrival time is 4pm and departure 11am.
Susan and Stephen fell in love with Antigua and bought the land in this quiet cove which they thought was paradise in 2007. They named the house "Out of the Blue" because they had no intention of buying a plot when they did so ! The house also sits alongside the blue of the Caribbean Sea and under the blue Caribbean sky !! The house was designed by Italian contemporary architect Guiseppe Tulumello who was given the brief that on opening the front door you don't want to see a dark interior - you want your eye to gaze upon the blue sea and sky and tropical garden which he well and truly achieved. We try and spend as much time as possible with family and friends at Out of the Blue as it is such a wonderful relaxing break.
Stephen Keyes purchased this villa in 2011
Out of the Blue sits in an idyllic location - built in a quiet cove over looking the bay - the entrance to the marina. The cove offers a small beach and safe swimming. Unlike the houses on the main beach we offer privacy and a tranquil experience. The house interior is decorated in white and pastels which creates a real "karma" about the place. Across the road is the beautiful Jolly Harbour beach, a mile of white sand and turquoise sea ! We are 5 mins by car to the shops, restaurants and marina. Jolly Harbour boasts one of the best supermarkets on the island. The house is situated at the end of a quiet road which is accessed through two security gates. We have a self contained cottage in the grounds which sleeps 2 and is ideal to holiday with staff or extra family or friends - cottage prices and availability on application please.
A spectacular week of living like movie stars! Every view is absolutely stunning!
A beautiful home we love the beach and the privacy.
Out of the Blue lived up to all our hopes and expectations. we had a wonderful time !
Out of the Blue is a beautiful property. Luxurious accommodation as described; clean and well maintained. During our 2 week stay the pool was regularly cleaned and the property was deep cleaned twice (with the option for more).
Peppe lives in an annex in the grounds and is very discreet, but is there if you need him and is a fountain of knowledge regarding the island. He also arranged activities for us through his contacts.
It was amazing having our own private beach - stunning views from the back of the villa - and the main beach just over the road from the front; glorious white sands and crystal waters. We did a lot of snorkelling and highly recommend taking kit out for regular use.
Hiring a golf buggy for getting around Jolly Harbour is a must and good fun. The local supermarket is well stocked although for fruit and veg and fresh fish to BBQ the market in St John's is good. But get there early!
A boat trip around the island with Xtreme Adventures was fabulous; including swimming with sting rays and visiting the Albert Dock.
We hired a car and although sign posts, speed bumps and pot holes can be a challenge, a drive to Shirley Heights for Sunday night BBQ, steel band and stunning views is a must.
Also recommend Miracles just outside Jolly Harbour and Alligator's in St John's - excellent local dishes e.g. curried goat and coconut shrimp.
Not enough room to say everything in one hit - so here's part 2!
Gas BBQ great for easy evening meals. Stay at home cooking made easy.
Swimming pool was lovely, shallow area at one end great for sitting the baby in the water (we had my 8 month old grandson with us), rest of the pool big enough for a leisurely swim. More than enough sunbeds for everyone and tranquil hang out spots in hammocks.
Living area was more than fabulous, sofas, TV, WiFi, beautiful with the main doors fully opened looking out to the turquoise sea. The best part (for me) was the undercover area off the living room, fabulous for sitting outside but in the shade on large white leather sofas. Also a huge outside dining table where we sat and frittered away the hours chatting and eating as a family.Peppe lives next door and is on hand to help with any queries or issues. Felt good to have that direct contact. I'm not sure what else I can add! We LOVED it, I would highly recommend a stay here, the location was beautiful and we would return in the blink of an eye : ) Thank you Steve and Susan for a wonderful stay
My headline is that I would not hesitate in recommending this villa, location and owner! We selected the villa and I am always a little apprehensive with a random selection from Owners Direct - never sure if the property will live up to the blurb! Well I have to say I need not have worried. If anything the villa surpassed expectations and was even better than the pictures promised.
Jolly Harbour is like an enclosed community, you can manage here with no car. I would recommend hiring a golf cart (as we did) to get to and from the supermarket and bars and restaurants. However you can manage with no transport if you are happy to take a walk and getting shopping daily (for a big food shop I would say the walk is a little to far to carry a lot of heavy items). We found the golf cart to be a great solution and a lot of fun as well!
The villa itself is at the end of one of the fingers of Jolly Harbour and is flanked by beach and sea at the front and back. Just beautiful. We used the smaller beach at the end of the garden (yes just walk from the decking, alongside the pool and your toes are on the beach) for a quick dip or a morning coffee listening to the hushed waves. This "private" beach also proved a fishing delight for the men folk who could just stroll and throw a line into the sea at their leisure (note you will have to find/borrow/hire fishing equipment though). I put the word private in speech marks because I think all beaches in Antigua are technically public but I can't imagine how anyone would reach this beach other than those staying at the villa, so it was private as far as we were concerned. When we fancied the splendour of Jolly Harbour beach, we simply crossed the small road in front of the villa and there it was! Fabulous and sprawling. For us the location was fabulous, secluded and private but just a short distance from the main harbour and all its amenities.
Beautiful, contemporary and extremely well stocked and serviced. There were fresh towels in each room, lovely bedding and pillows, air conditioning in each bedroom and lovely bathrooms (with good showers). In addition there were coloured beach towels left out in the decked area so we could use these for sunbathing and outdoor pursuits without the worry of spoling the fresh white towels in the villa.
The kitchen had a good selection of plates/glasses/cups/pots and pans/serving dishes/knives/etc. All you could want for stay at home cooking.
We looked at several villas on Antigua when planning a joint 70th birthday celebration with the family. We saw 'Out of the Blue' and knew it was just perfect. A modern and beautifully designed villa, the 4 large bedrooms were sufficient for 6 adults and 3 grandchildren. The stylish interior together with generous outdoor living area, a lovely pool and direct access to your own bit of beach resulted in a most memorable and enjoyable stay.
Located on the north shore of South finger, 'Out of the Blue' is ideal for the main beach and its amenities as well as the large supermarket, shops and restaurants of Jolly Harbour, although a car of golf cart is recommended, particularly for carrying groceries, getting to the golf course etc. We hired a sailing boat, used the restaurants ( favourite was Al Porto) as well as enjoying a special trip on the Sea Escape (glass bottom boat based in Jolly Harbour). All in all Out of the Blue was for us an ideal villa in a great location. Peppe was on hand to assist with any minor problems (we managed to loose the power one evening!) as well as provide advice on the immediate surroundings as well as Antigua in general.
The grandchildren keep asking us when are we going back to Antigua(!!) - can't recommend it strongly enough if you have large party including young children and are looking for a modern spacious villa with all amenities right on the beach!!
We are a family group of 6 plus our daughter's boyfriend and the accommodation in Out of the Blue was perfect for us and lived up to all our hopes and expectations. The description on the website was accurate as regards the location, layout and facilities and and additional helpful information about restaurants, shopping, car hire etc was given verbally by telephone by the owner We were also emailed additional photos of the property by the owners. Having Giuseppe next door was also a plus - he showed us around the villa initially and was very helpful during our stay. This was our first visit to Antigua and Jolly Harbour is an ideal location from which to explore the island. English Harbour was well worth a visit; we enjoyed seeing some cricket while we were out there; and our favourite restaurant was Carmichaels for dinner and Cloggy's for lunch. Dennis Restaurant on Ffryes Beach was also fun (recommend his rum and raisin ice cream!) but, we were disappointed in Le Bistro. Hiring a golf buggy or renting a car is almost essential for supermarket shopping. As a group we enjoyed: swimming; sunbathing; diving; jet skiing; chartering a yacht and enjoying the facilities at Out of the Blue. Yes we would recommend Out of the Blue to a friend or relative as we had a great holiday!
The cove beach sits at the bottom of your garden whilst to access the main Jolly Beach (approx 1 mile long - one of the most beautiful beaches in Antigua) you will have to step over the road - 30 metres!
VC Bird International 15 miles. Ferry St Johns Harbour 6 miles. Car Hire (although not absolutely essential in Jolly Harbour) to explore the island available locally.Golf Buggy can be hired from the Commercial centre. Buses and Taxis run on a regular basis.
St Johns 5 miles.
Jolly Harbour boasts a wide range of shops, banks, bars and restaurants. There is a well stocked supermarket in the resort. Restaurants range from a simple beach bar grill (also great for sundowners!) to a fabulous a la carte restaurant in a hill top 5 star hotel overlooking the entire marina. Although you have a huge selection of facilities nearby, nothing is so very close that it intrudes into your tranquil location - another reason why we believe this is one of the best positions in Jolly Harbour. Touring the island by hire car or taxi will take you to the stunning Half Moon Bay or Nelson's Dockyard where the historic buildings are a must see. Bustling St Johns with its shops and fruit and vegetable market and Duty Free shopping area on the quayside is also worth a visit.
