About Anne Gordon

Andrew and I met 11 years ago and have both lived here house full time for about 8 years.

Andrew bought the property more than 20 years ago, primarily as a second home but soon decided that he preferred Normandy to London. He has spent the last 20 years renovating the cottage - it was being used as a grain store when he bought it.

We have made the cottage cosy but with a bright, well-equipped kitchen where you can turn your local market produce into delicious meals. Alternatively, try the seafood restaurants in St Vaast and Barfleur.

Anne Gordon purchased this cottage in 1980

Why Anne Gordon chose Manche

We love the peace and tranquillity, our nearest neighbours are 800 mtrs. On a clear night you can actually see the stars and the only noise will be owls. The cottage is surrounded by fields, perfect for an evening stroll. The marvellous beaches are only a 20 minute drive as are the local markets. Why not visit and see for yourself!

What makes this cottage unique

The cottage is only 30 mins drive from the port of Cherbourg.

If you feel exhausted, let me know either by email or telephone and I'll be pleased to cook a delicious casserole for your dinner, ready and waiting for your arrival. Just call me to discuss.

Alternatively, if you are arriving late, I can buy provisions to get you going. Again, call me to discuss. 00 332 33 43 41 60.

Tranquil, homely and perfect for families

  • 5 of 5

The cottage is very well equipped, not surprising as Anne lives there during the Winter months. Staying in someone's home really makes a difference to impersonal holiday apartments that we have stayed in before. Sitting in front of the log fire on a rainy evening or on the patio in the sun are both great ways to while away a few hours in between visits to sandy beaches, the animal park nearby, or walking along the harbour and grabbing something to eat at Barfleur or St Vaast. Anne is lovely - friendly, helpful and on hand if you have any queries as her and her two lovely little dogs are just across the courtyard. Our little girl particularly enjoyed feeding Sophie the goat in the field next door. We would definitely stay here if we visit the area again.

Excellent Barn conversion in rural idill

  • 5 of 5

Location excellent, as being near the N13 it is easy to get anywhere (Bayeux 1 hour, Mt St Michel 2 hours, Normandy beaches close). Local Intermarche a couple of miles away, markets in local towns daily, very good local restaurants especially for fish. Owner provides all the information you could possibly want. Large kitchen which is well equipped, very decent sitting/ dining area and bedrooms. Stairs are steep. Good internet signal. Pleasant outdoors. Down a slightly rough track so nowhere near anything that makes a noise, other than the birds.

This is very good rural French living. It is not all mod cons. As a result it is perfect. Everything works, is clean and serviceable. Would go back again tomorrow.

peaceful, welcoming, comfortable and rustic charm

  • 5 of 5

We spent a fabulous week exploring Normandy and staying at la Goueslonnerie made our holiday perfect. The cottage has real rustic charm but is also comfortable and well equipped. Our children loved exploring the garden and the presence of Sophie the goat to pet and feed was a real bonus. Anne the owner was welcoming and very knowledgeable about the local area. Surrounded by fields and countryside the cottage is very peaceful, yet local towns and villages are only a short drive away. We were so charmed by the cottage we are already planning our return.

We had a wonderful tme exploring Normandy and staying at la Goueslonnerie made our holiday perfect. The cottage has real rustic charm but is also comfortable and well equipped. Our children loved exploring the garden and the presence of Sophie the goat to pet and feed was a real bonus. The owner Anne was friendly and welcoming and very knowledgeable about the local area. The cottage is set in a rural and peaceful location but is only a short drive to the local villages and towns. We were so taken by its charm we are planning to return next year.

Idyllic Farmhouse

  • 5 of 5

I can fully endorse the previous review, the farmhouse is comfy and full of character. if its peace and quiet you want then this is the place. Only 10 mins from super market, banks and pharmacy and add another 5 mins for the beach at St Vaast, where Saturday market is a must, early closing on Monday. Kitchen is huge and lacks nothing equipment wise and with fresh moules at 2 euros a kilo you cannot go wrong. We are already planning our return and look forward to meeting again Anne, dogs Bert and Spit and Sophie the goat!

A hidden gem

  • 5 of 5

This gite is wonderful, hidden down a narrow lane you find a warm cosy cottage, extremely well equipped and really comfortable with all we needed for out 10 night stay. The bedrooms were a lovely size with really comfortable beds, the sitting and dinning rooms a great size which as a family of 7 we still had space in. The large kitchen was well equipped and having another dinning table was great for casual lunches and breakfast sat by the patio doors looking up to the huge garden. The children had plenty of out door space to play in and we're completely safe outdoors running around playing, they also made good use of the swings and table tennis. The owner was very helpful with a huge pack left for us of information on the local area. We loved it so much that we are already organising next year's stay.
