Memorable!

  • 5 of 5

Gibbs Glade is set in a serene, forested area. Our cottage opened out to a pristine pool. The proprietors were very friendly and always available for any need. The beds were comfy and the space was immaculate. If you want a sea bath, it is a short walk away. A truly excellent experience!

Almost Perfect

  • 5 of 5

Recently returned from Gibbs Glade Poolside studio having spent 2 weeks in this lovely location. The owners, Toby and Karen were really kind and welcoming and nothing was too much trouble, even finding tonics for our G&T's, as temporary shortage of supplies on the island!!!! The studio was large spacious and beds very comfortable. Cooking facilities basic but adequate for our needs. Air con and wifi good and all opening windows were fitted with mosquito nets. The studio has 3 sets of French doors which open onto pool patio and front terrace making the accommodation very lite and airy. This establishment only opened in September 2016 and apart from a few minor alterations to facilities which the owners welcomed the studio is superb, The location was perfect, close to Mullins and Gibbs beaches and local bus network. Local shop, bars and restaurants all within walking distance Can recommend Bombas and Mullins Beach Bar to eat or try restaurants in Holetown as plenty of choice . A car is not essential as buses run all over the island and riding on the yellow reggae buses is an experience not to be missed!!! There is a short cut to the highway and beaches through a wooded area but prone to flooding when it rains heavily. Take a torch.

The pool is shared by 2 other studios and the cottage but is a welcomed addition to he complex. Laundry facilities are available in a separate store. We loved this place and have booked again for next year. The only recommendation I would suggest would be a microwave in the kitchen and parasols around the pool area. The pool furniture is very comfortable and the surrounding gardens are well kept

Our personal thanks to Toby Karen and the staff for making our stay so comfortable and memorable.

Almost perfect

Lovely cottage near two great beaches. Charming rooms with air con and gauze on all windows---essential in Barbados. We were unfortunate in that for our time there building construction was taking place very close to the property. However without that happening the cottage would definitely have had five stars . The pool is perfect .

Beautiful

  • 5 of 5

My family and I have enjoyed a fabulous two week stay here at Gibbs Glade Cottage. I would highly recommend if your thinking of going to Barbados.

We are a family of five, including our three boys 4, 11 & 13 we found the accommodation perfect for our needs, very clean and well equipped with everything you would need for a self catering holiday.

My husband normally struggles to get a desent nights sleep while away from home but to our delight the the mattress was so comfy.

Our boys all agree the pool was a perfect size and surrounded by a very pretty well maintained garden which gave us the feel of being private without feeling in the middle of nowhere.

We spent most of our days relaxing on the beautiful Gibbs beach which was a few minutes away and very quite with only a handful of people around.

The owners Toby and Karen are also lovely people and went out of there way to accommodate our needs.

The only negative I can find with staying here is going home will be torture.

Many thanks from the Esposito family for a wonderful holiday and we hope to return soon.

Wonderful Stay

  • 5 of 5

My friends and I absolutely loved staying at Gibbs Glade Cottage. The accommodation was ideal for our party of 5 ladies on their first girly getaway.

The cottage was spotlessly clean which we really appreciated. We enjoyed using all the facilities and loved having breakfast outside. The swimming pool is a perfect size and we used it daily. Even when it rained it didn't matter as it soon passed. The monkeys were funny and although they got the first batch of nice looking bananas on day one, we didn't see them again. The cottage felt like a home from home and we were so relaxed to be there, the housekeeper was fabulous too with lots of local knowledge to share. Booking information and details was accurate and clear, the owners had accurately described the accommodation and we would not hesitate to stay again.

Map

Nearest Airport
33 Kilometres
Grantley Adams International Airport, Barbados
Car: recommended

Coast/Beach:

A short stroll to both Gibbs and Mullins Beaches. Gibbs is beautiful and peaceful, lined with privately owed villas. Mullins is much more lively with a bar and restaurant plus various water sports available.

Travel:

Grantley Adams International Airport, Bridgetown, is about a 40 minute drive away. Taxis at the airport are plentiful and very well organised.

Hiring a car is not essential as the beach is so close and the buses on the coast road are very frequent and inexpensive. However a car gives visitors freedom and flexibility to explore the island and its many exciting sights, huge variety of beaches and extensive restaurants.

Distances:

The Cottage is just under 2.5 miles from Speightstown and 3.7 miles from Holetown. Speightstown is more authentic Barbados with a couple of great casual places for breakfast and lunch plus a couple of very smart places for dinner. Whereas Holetown is far more modern, busier and touristy, with a fantastic new shopping mall, Lime Grove, and a large choice of bars and restaurants. The city of Bridgetown is 10.7 miles distant, full of wonderful architecture, racing, yacht club....

Further Details:

To the North is Speightstown which has everything, from restaurants and bars to a supermarket that gives shoppers a lift home! Plus a library and Post Office. A little further north is Port St Charles with its fabulous yachts, and the Fish Pot restaurant overlooking the waves.

All along the coast are wonderful restaurants. It is easy to eat out every night at a different place each time, never more than a 15 minute drive away.

There are a multitude of activities to choose from across the island from Polo matches taking place on several fields, serving tea and sandwiches to the spectators; to horse racing at the Garrison Savannah; or try diving or a trip in the mini sub.

The beaches around the island are all different, from the calm relaxing waves of the west, to the long rolling waves on the south perfect for body boarding, or the wild waves of the east with its surfing competitions. A different experience each day...

And for every day... there are supermarkets in Speightstown and Holetown, banks with ATM's are in abundance, including in the convenience store by Mullins Beach. The local markets sell fresh fruit and fish caught that day. Coconut water is sold at the side of the road. Local art and craft is all around. And for the less adventurous......there are the imports from Waitrose!
