About the property

Cosy 1 BR cottage, near Port Isaac, coastal walks, woods, beaches, pets welcome

Appletree Cottage is a tastefully renovated quarryman’s' cottage, perfect for 2 adults, looking for a relaxing break . Regretfully not suitable for children, although small babies (ie not crawling ) are fine, with own equipment.

.It is set in a wooded valley, surrounded by open farmland. Exposed beams throughout and furnished in a simple country style, with original art, country furniture and oriental rugs and inglenook fireplace with woodburning stove ( some logs included, more can be obtained on site ) A courtyard garden to the front of the cottage gets morning sun and is full of pots of flowers in season - a nice spot for breakfast! The kitchen is very well equipped with everything you need, there is also a dining table and chairs for 2.

The living room is cosy, with plenty of magazines and books, freesat tv, and art to look at. Comfy sofa with throw and large armchair to relax in.

The bedroom is light and airy with vaulted ceiling and exposed beams, wardrobe and lots of storage for your things. The bed is very comfortable and has cotton bed linens freshly ironed ( by me !) and a lovely hand made bedspread on it. Extra blanket available and dual control electric blanket for the cooler months, there is also a small heater. The bathroom is spacious and situated right opposite the bedroom making it virtually en suit Towels are included.

.A lovely romantic retreat in the heart of North Cornwalls majestic scenery, cosy and comfortable in all seasons,an ideal base for exploring or just relaxing in the peaceful surroundings. Lovely walks on the doorstep, the coastal path, beaches and Bodmin Moor are within easy reach, and our Bluebell woods are just down the lane.Port Isaac with its' many resturants, cafes and interesting shops is just 10/15 minutes away. The new Doc Martin series will be shot in Port Isaac from April to August 2017, come and watch the filming and perhaps meet the cast ! The new series of Poldark is being made in various locations around Cornwall this year. You could also see the now world famous Fishermans Friends singing on the Harbour on Friday evenings in the summer (weather permitting) in Port Isaac.

About Francesca Mattei

My husband and I fell in love with Cornwall on our first visit and now enjoy sharing our cottage with guests from all over the world, although as we live abroad we don't get to spend as much time there as we would like.

What makes this cottage unique

Newhall Green is a lovely hamlet, quiet and peaceful and away from the tourist hot spots, yet with easy access to the A39 and the coast road which will take you to some gorgeous beaches , coastal walks, places of interest, or Wadebridge with its great shopping and "not on the high street" individual shops.

Cosy, Well thought out Cottage

  • 5 of 5

Immediately felt comfortable, not the usual sparse holiday cottage, we felt like we were staying in someones home. The bed was extremely comfortable and the owner had even added an electric blanket! which we did use due to the cold evenings. So much character and so much thought put into modernising it without spoiling that.

We all had a most enjoyable time there.
