Cottage in Cheriton Fitzpaine, Nr. Crediton, Mid Devon, England - Peaceful, Spacious Country Cottage With Oak Beams And Wood Burning Stoves On A Working Organic Farm

Spacious with a warm and relaxed atmosphere, Peach Hayne Cottage is surrounded by beautiful Devon countryside on a 112 acre organic farm with lots of indigenous flora and fauna.

The cottage has lots of space and is ideal for extended families; the younger members might like to 'chill' in the loft area where there is a TV and Wii games station, whilst those a little older relax in in the hot tub and admire the views or in front of the wood burner in the main lounge. Most of our visitors also make good use of the large games rooms, where they can play table tennis, darts or pool - or just relax on the sofa with a beer!

Outside there is an enclosed garden with a large patio for dining, and a separate raised patio with a hot tub, where you can relax sipping a glass of wine whilst watching the wildlife activity around the large nature pond and birch copse.

Peach Hayne Cottage is 1.5 miles from the picturesque village of Cheriton Fitzpaine which boasts a pub and village post office/shop. On the outskirts of the village there is also Thornes Farm Shop, which sells local produce and has a café for morning coffee, lunch or afternoon tea. The cottage is within easy access of the local market towns of Tiverton and Crediton as well as the beautiful city of Exeter.

Mid Devon is in the 'Heart of Devon', mid way between Exmoor and Dartmoor and the North and East / South Devon coasts. There are lots of walks locally, in fact a footpath passes along the farm lane which takes you across the valley giving you amazing views across Devon to Dartmoor. Dogs welcome by prior arrangement.

About Simon Paddon

We farm our organic farm in the heart of Devon with our two grown up sons, 4 collie dogs 2 cats and quite a few other animals. Simon's family has lived on the farm for four generations whereas Karen is an immigrant from Dorset, although as she has lived in the area for a "few years" she nearly qualifies as a local.

Why Simon Paddon chose Mid Devon

Our Cottage was the remains of the original farmhouse that Simon's Great Grandmother moved into at the beginning of the last century. She soon built the farmhouse we live in now and over the next hundred years the old house just sort of slept........

Then in a rash moment we considered resuscitation - with much care, consideration, frayed nerves and support of a bank manager with a Kamikaze Spirit, it slowly came back to life and although I say it myself we couldn't be happier with it - "it's a real gem".

We think of it as a Devonshire Gite.

Fantastic Hidden Gem!!

We had an amazing time in this cottage, it was

just as described and exceeded our expectations. It has everything you need for a quiet getaway in the beautiful countryside, we were never bored with all the games provided (pool table, table tennis, board games, hot tub, Wii). The location is perfect if you want to just get away from it all, the local pub 'Ring o'Bells' has amazing food and is located in the local village. The fishermans cot has a beautiful setting right on the river which is worth a visit. The cottage itself is well equiped with everything you need. Simon and his wife are very friendly and are on hand if needed but leave you to enjoy your holiday. I cannot recommend this place enough. Thanks for a great week away! P.S

I'm missing Raymond already :-(

Perfect get away from it all

An exceedingly well thought out property with everything that you could wish for. Clean and tidy throughout and although we were only a party of 2, this cottage would be perfect for a significantly larger group. The cottage is maybe a quarter of a mile down a pretty well maintained track so children would have plenty of space to explore without venturing onto a road and for smaller children and animals, the rear garden is fenced and well maintained. One small draw back is the remoteness of this property, a car is definately required at all times as it is almost 2 miles to the local village where there are a couple of pubs and shops along some pretty small roads but significantly further to anything resembling a town. The addition of a hot tub and games room means that families will be well able to occupy themselves for some days but expect to travel.

The farm is actually very quiet and although there are a few cows in the adjoining field, it seems that the farm is primarily rearing chickens which are well away from the property and early morning disturbance was non existent.

All in all a lovely place and i would definitely recommend

A perfect place for families

All of our family enjoyed the stay very much. Simon is an excellent host, he cared for us wherever he could. On arrival, we found the cottage as described, everything was clean and the house is equipped to the modernest standards. The wonderful landscape, the hot tub, the pool table, darts and table tennis provide a range of activities, so that you newer will be bored in this house. This house is a perfect place to go for families with children of all ages.

Perfect place to relax and unwind

Better than the photos and description, fantastic owners - very kind, friendly and helpful. Cottage beautiful inside and out, immaculately clean and excellently equipped - laundry facilities most useful. Hot tub a great hit with our two teenagers, as was the ping pong and playing with the gorgeous collies. Loved the garden and the views, great pubs nearby. It was a wrench for all of us to leave; as my husband summed up, 'what's not to like?' We definitely wish to return.

Simply stunning.

We have just returned from a thoroughly enjoyable week in this cottage. The pictures do not do it justice. It has everything you would need for whatever the weather may throw at you, set in a gorgeous rural location.

Both north and south Devon are accessible (around an hour's drive or so away), but there is also plenty to see in the immediate surroundings, together with the beautiful Dartmoor national park not far away either.

It truly is a place to get away from it all. The welcome you get is a genuinely warm one.

Be prepared to not want to go back home!

Fantastic!

Had a wonderful week in this gorgeous cottage. The owners really have thought of everything. The photos online don't do this property justice. It is definitely 4 star, very comfortable and completely relaxing. We would highly recommend this property if you want a real get away from it all holiday in beautiful countryside. We also found fantastic fishing lakes a few miles away at Creedy lakes. Enjoyed lovely evenings together in the games room. our dog also thoroughly enjoyed his farm holiday.

Notes on accommodation: Peach Hayne Cottage is a rural self-catering holiday cottage, located on a working family farm down a quiet country lane in the heart of the Devon countryside yet within easy access of Exeter. The cottage is very old and was the original farm house many years ago. It has recently been beautifully renovated keeping many of the original features such as the huge beams and fireplace with its bread oven. There is underfloor heating throughout the ground floor and wood-burning stoves in the lounge and master bedroom (free logs supplied). Outside: The enclosed, lawned garden has two patio areas, the lower one has a dining area with table, chairs, sunshade and fire-pit/barbecue. The more secluded raised patio area has a hot tub and is ideal for sunbathing and relaxing. Both have views across the valley to the wildlife pond and birch copse. Ample parking space. Utility Room: Access to laundry facilities with clothes airer, tumble dryer and washing machine. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels and bed linen provided. Cleaning on changeover day (Saturday). Other: Free Wi-Fi throughout the cottage. Outdoor hot tub with panoramic views. Visitors also have access to two adjoining games rooms with full size table tennis, darts and proper pool table. Dogs welcome by prior arrangement.
