A light, luxurious and spacious self catering property with iconic trulli cones, a private fenced heated swimming pool and WiFi set in a tranquil Puglian countryside of olive groves, fruit trees and stone walls. Restored to a very high standard and tastefully furnished to provide the creature comforts of a contemporary lifestyle, including air conditioning throughout. Located only 3.5km outside the town of Castellana Grotte, it is conveniently and centrally located in close proximity to beaches (15 mins), towns and major tourists. The private fenced swimming pool (10 x 5metres) also has a shallow baby section & is complete with shaded outdoor sitting and dining area - perfect for al fresco dining. The property comprises 3 double rooms, each with air con and en-suite. Sleeps up to 6 adults and 2 children comfortably. Upon your arrival at Trulli Marchione you will find a selection of cold drinks and snacks.

Why Hayley chose Castellana Grotte

We have lived in Castellana Grotte for some time and love this town so much that we decided to purchase a holiday home here. We love this area because it is not a touristy town, it is a real Puglian town where the people are incredibly friendly and helpful. The locals treat you like one of them and you don't get ripped off here like you would in touristy places. I also love the fact that you can cook like the locals or dine out as there are lots of great food/wine places/restaurants to choose from - and you can do it all very cheaply too. The olive oil here is sooo good and cheap - must admit since living here, we have become olive oil snobs. Very importantly we love it here because of the awesome weather here.

What makes this villa unique

When staying at Trulli Marchione, you get the best of both worlds: you get to experience life in rural Puglia and at the same time you are in close proximity to beaches, town and key tourist sights. You'll be staying in a stunningly restored iconic Puglian trulli that is light, tastefully decorated and unlike most trulli, it is also unusually spacious - in most other trullis, one has to be vertically challenged to fit into the bathroom or showers. But not at Trulli Marchione, you will be most impressed with the space and the creature comforts provided including air conditioning. The fenced private pool with a shallow section for bambini is ideal for families with children. But if you prefer the beach, it is only about a 15 min drive away.

Trulli Marchiones location is terrific - quiet and relaxing , but not too far from the amenities of (several good bakeries/patisseries, grocery/butchers, some banks/cash points, small supermarket and a number of decent eateries).The trulli is lovely - comfortable, clean and well presented. The terrace offers a perfect place for a leisurely lunch or to watch the sun go down over a glass of wine or two. The kids loved the pool, which was clean and well equipped with plenty of sun loungers etc etc. In fact, trying to persuade them to leave the trulli to do some sightseeing was tricky. Hayley, the property manager, was really helpful (and prompt) in responding to questions before our arrival, and once we had arrived, she was very helpful and knowledgeable, and really went the extra mile to make sure we had a fantastic stay. If you're looking for a relaxing break, or one which is well-placed for exploring a very interesting part of Italy then Trulli Marchione is difficult to beat.

Outside: Gardens set on 2000 sqm of typical Puglian country landscape, BBQ area, outdoor dining table, chairs and stone bench for al fresco dining by the 10mx5m fenced private swimming pool that includes a shallow baby section (depth of 60 cm). The shallow end of the adult pool is 1.1m whilst the deep end is 2m. At one end of the pool, a 5mx5m sail cloth provides shade. There is also a separate shaded stone arched gazebo furnished with a table and 2 chairs at the rear of the house where you can relax and watch the olive trees grow. Fully reclining pool loungers are provided. Mosquito screens. Security grilles on all windows and doors. Security alarm system monitored 24 hours back to base. Land is gated and surrounded by typical Puglian stone walls. Driveway and car parking area are gravelled. Fantastic Holiday!

We were very impressed with the property and the staff. Although we booked a self catering holiday the management team and staff were always available to help or advise us.

We arrived from Naples at 1am in the morning and Hayley came out to meet us and check us into the house. There was a nice welcome pack which was much appreciated after a long day travelling.

The trulli was clean and well equipped. We had a shortage of tea towels which was resolved the same day.

The area is nice and we enjoyed Monopoli and Polignano a mare. I would highly recommend this property.

Great base for sight seeing puglia

The booking process was easy. The house is very well kept after and has good facilities and a well equipped kitchen. Our teenage boys loved the pool. Great base for sight seeing Puglia. We loved the food and going to the markets.

Great Holiday accommodation for groups

We stayed at Trulli Marchione in September last year with 2 other couples. We choose the property because it had 3 en suite bathrooms. We were delighted with the property.

The management company checked us in early so we did not have to wait around. They were very helpful and explained how everything worked and where to go to shop and eat.

The property is located on a quite lane. The property was very clean on arrival and is well equipped. The pool was cleaned twice a week by the management company.

We would recommend this property and would like to return again one day

Great family friendly property

We had a very enjoyable week here with our three young children (aged 2,3 & 5). Property clean and with all the essentials. Pool was great for young kids as there are a few steps then a ledge which was perfect for paddling. Due to it being April the Trulli was a little cool, but once the heating kicked in it was really comfortable (and I am sure it is great in the summer months that the Trulli stays cool). Nice area and local towns in easy access. Hayley (property manager) very quick to respond to any request.

Our great family holiday!

2 sons, 2 daughters-in-law, 1 grand-daughter, my wife and myself enjoyed every minute of our stay at this great holiday house. Ample room for everybody. The 3 bedrooms with each a bathroom are guaranteeing the privacy for 3 couples. The location of the villa is in the middle of nowhere surrounded by olive trees and olive trees; the silence of the nature needed to calm down(remark: car with GPS is a must). A fantastic swimming pool for the whole family and it was used every day due to the nice weather we had. And everything in and around the house super clean.

Moreover Puglia is a great region apparently still unknown to the non-Italian tourists. Within a distance of 100 km you have a nice choice of little villages and small cities to visit.In all restaurants we visited we had great food with simple and pure ingredients. Definitely try the antipasti. And one more attractive point: we only met friendly Italians definitely when you try to speak a few words of Italian.

Only 1 little minus point: the wasps around the house and from time to time they were aggressive but bottom line nobody was stung by these insects.

As a conclusion I can only recommend this great villa and Puglia as a region.
