Black Swan Cottage is a beautifully restored 16th century building full of beams, wattle and daub. It is Grade 2 listed and you will see why with it's special 'C shaped' Crook Beam and Oak Mullioned window. It has a small but charming terraced garden and you can pick roses from the stone mullioned bedroom window. Near the village park for entertaining the children you can also stroll down to our beautiful river, perfect for chilling that bottle of white wine. There are numerous walks straight from the back door and no need to use a car as we have 2 excellent pubs, a tearoom and village shop. An open fire can tempt you to stay in.

About Dr Kim N Cooke

I'm a local GP and have lived next door to my property Black Swan Cottage for 10 years. I was delighted to purchase and restore it in 2007. Close proximity means I can look after it. I'm also available for local info or if there's a problem. My four children are growing up in this lovely village and it's a privilege to share it with others.

Dr Kim N Cooke purchased this in 2007

Why Dr Kim N Cooke chose Derbyshire Dales

We discovered Derbyshire for the first time when my husband got a job here 10 years ago. Since then I have begun to work as a rural GP and have never stopped thinking what a special place it is.Come and see the wild flowers in May and you'll understand why.

What makes this unique

This village lies in the middle of beautiful countryside. Having lived here for 10 years I am still finding new walks and runs from my back door. Now I cycle I am being punished by the hills but get to see even more villages tucked away.It is an endless playground. However nothing beats the ability to combine this with being able to stroll to our many pubs within walking distance, or get some delicious bacon from the village shop. There are more remote villages, but this has a wonderful community and accessibility.
