This is a one of a kind lake house, making an ideal retreat for families and groups of friends. The house is an unique mid-century modern design, with windows from floor to ceiling all along the west side of the house, offering unobstructed jaw dropping sunset views. Each room opens to a deck or patio, offering easy access to the lake or lagoon style pool and hot tub. Bring your water toys and fishing poles and have fun on Lake Buchanan with your private dock. Relax in the private pool and hot-tub with the tranquil noise of the waterfall in the background.

The bedrooms are divided in two wings with the kitchen and living room in the middle. Both bathrooms have been remodeled with a spa inspired design. The master bedroom is in the opposite wing with king size bed and master suite including his and her vanities and dressing areas. The studio is converted into extra sleeping quarters with twin trundle bed.

There is a built in stainless steel gas grill off the deck with plenty of outdoor seating.

The beautiful living room has an atrium with a tree and luscious green plants, which the house was originally built around.

Please note there are stairs in the house and a spiral staircase and rock steps down to the dock. This house may not be appropriate for anyone with issues with stairs.

About Jennifer Ward

My dad, Cowden, owns the home and lives in it part-time. He is very active in the local town, Burnet, running his Freedom Flyers organization, offering free flights to World War II Veterans and teaching the youth about aviation.

I, Jennifer, live in Denver with my husband and four-legged children. I work for the University of Colorado Denver in the International Student Services department. I help my dad manage the bookings and getting the house ready for guests.

This is our family's home, originally built by my grandparents. After my dad and two sisters inherited the home, they had to sell it. One day my father visited Lake Buchanan after marrying my mother and someone informed him his house was for sale again. My parent's were able to buy the house and bring it back to the family. I grew up in this home and have the best memories of exploring the outdoors and learning how to ski on the lake. We now want to share it with others, so they may create the wonderful memories we have.

Jennifer Ward purchased this house in 1964

Why Jennifer Ward chose Burnet

Lake Buchanan is the largest of the lakes in the surrounding Austin hill country area. It is known for great bass fishing and Bald Eagle tours. The house is 15 minutes drive from Burnet, offering plenty of boutique and antique shops, a variety of restaurants and all of your necessities. Drive 15 more minutes and you are in Marble Falls along Lake LBJ, also a great town for more shopping and restaurants to enjoy. There are several golf courses within the two towns. Also check out Longhorn Caverns just outside of Burnet. In the opposite direction also only 15 minutes is Canyon of The Eagles Resort where you can rent canoes, kayaks, go hiking, viewTexas stars in the observatory and go on a Bald Eagle or Winery cruise with Vanishing Texas River Cruise.

Lovely Mid-Century Charm in a Stunning Location

  • 5 of 5

Excellent place to celebrate milestones, with the photos a true representation of the house. House is well-maintained and could comfortably sleep 8. Beautiful lake views and lots of peace and quiet. My wife and I love the mid-century style of home, and it lends itself well to the lakefront location.

Next time I will put the dock to better use than fishing and bring a boat to explore Lake Buchanan.

As others have stated, if it were for sale I would be considering a lake house. It doesn't get much better than this house from my point of view.

The grandkids never got bored. The house and property were exceptional. Easy access to boat ramp. Will recommend and even hope to return to stay at this "Oasis".

Amazing stay at a beautiful property

  • 5 of 5

We had a fabulous stay at this lovely property for our annual gathering of friends. Spent most of the time on the back porches and in the pool. Views are amazing and the house was very clean, neat and organized. We would stay here again. Thank you for sharing this gem with me and my friends!

Unique home, great family 4th of July trip

  • 4 of 5

We stayed for 4 nights for 4th of July weekend with 6 people and had a great time. The property was very unique and also the deck absolutely amazing. The views were amazing especially for the sunset and fireworks. The swimming pool and hot tub were a great place to hang out after playing on the lake. Unfortunately we couldn't get the pool lights to work and had to call the owners. The pool lights may have been out as we were never able to get them on.

The kitchen was awesome and had plenty of space and had everything we needed to cook for 4 days. The beds were all very comfortable. The extra freezer was a plus and we were able to keep ice in there so we never needed to ever leave the home to pick up more ice. There was an HEB nearby if we needed something.

As other reviews mentioned, the staircase to the dock can be difficult to go down for small children but we didn't have any problems as we were all adults. The dock was great to tie the boat to but it is not in a no wake cove so be prepared for potential rough waters during the day when people are driving up and down the cove pulling skiers or tubing. We got to use a private boat ramp very close to the house which made it super easy to launch the boat. There is also a convenient marina deeper in the cove where we were able to get gas.

Overall, everyone was happy and had plenty of space. The house had a great location and beautiful views. It was everything we needed for a family lake vacation.

Absolutely wonderful!

  • 5 of 5

My family and I had a woundeful time staying at this amazing house. The lake was great for kayaking, finishing, and boating. And the pool was so relaxing. Even though our trip was in July, we still talk about how much fun we had all of the time!
