The 2 Driftwood Apartments (4*) are stunningly located on the water’s edge of Hoopers Bay, one of the Bahamas most beautiful beaches. They offer luxury flexible accommodation for 2-4 in each of two apartments; each offers double bedrooms with en-suite. This flexibility means you can rent either apartment for 2-4 guests, or both for up to 8 guests. To ensure your total privacy, we will not rent both apartments at the same time to guests not part of the same group. The apartments are one above the other, and benefit from all modern amenities. Both offer balconies overlooking the beautiful bay with its stunning sunsets and share a private outside sundeck. Driftwood is the perfect place for relaxing and swimming from your own private beach, with lots of other things to do: beach combing, wildlife, historical and cultural places of interest. Hoopers Bay is shallow, always calm, perfect for swimming (especially for children), protected from winds and yet offers amazing snorkelling.

Christine and Mike Thornton are semi-retired; we rent out holiday cottages in the most beautiful parts of the UK - Scotland, The Lake District and Cornwall. We always try to do our very best to make sure that our guests have a memorable, wonderful holiday and always hope that they will visit again! Christine enjoys (not-so) gentle tennis, Mike drives rally cars badly! We have been renting holiday cottages for many years and from feedback from our guests, we have the experience to make sure that your holiday is trouble free and relaxing. So much so that over 30% of our bookings are from previous guests.

Coast/Beach: Just 20 yards from your front door! Dazzling white sands, rarely anyone else around, shallow warm water perfectly safe for swimming and protected from prevailing winds...turtles, fish, dolphins...corals, sea fans, driftwood... sunloungers, cool drinks, a good book...kayak across the bay to beaches rarely visited by anyone...then cool off back in the apartments .... Driftwood Apartments are importantly located on the East side of the island - the West side is very still with lots of bugs! Travel: Georgetown International Airport (GGT) is reached via Nassau, the capital of the Bahamas; from Miami; or Toronto. Driftwood Apartments are about 15 minutes (approx $30) taxi ride from the airport. The main carrier from Europe is British Airways (from London); and from the USA, American and Continental. If you fly into Nassau, there are frequent flights into Georgetown with Bahamas Air and Sky Bahamas. Distances: Georgetown, the sleepy capital of Exuma, is only a couple of miles from Driftwood apartments. There are a few good convenience stores nearby (in walking distance) and the hotel zone which offers a selection of restaurants and bars. Or the wonderfully vibrant Fish Fry, just before Georgetown, for fantastic atmosphere and street food. Boat hire, shops, water taxi to Stocking Island can all be found in Georgetown. Further Details: •Elisabeth Harbour is a 10 mile long natural harbour, bounded by the mainland and Georgetown to the west and Stocking Island to the east. Nothing beats a day’s boating, either on sailing boats or motorboats you can hire locally. You can hunt for conch shells, relax at the Chat’n’Chill beach bar, walk over to the “Atlantic Side” of Stocking Island on nature trails, snorkel the reefs, really and truly swim with rays, spend time on completely deserted beaches and our favourite of all, tie up over a blue hole and feed the thousands of fish that some up to see what’s going on…. •The north is simply spectacular, with vast sand flats where you can walk for miles with only ospreys in the air and rays and fish around your feet. Passing through colourful settlements (villages) where life hasn’t changed for decades, where wooden boats are still hand crafted, where time stands still •Little Exuma is dotted with settlements with centuries of culture, ranging from an original cotton tree from the original settler’s days, now wild sisal plants which they used to manufacture ropes in the days of sail, salt ponds, where salt was harvested and exported all over the world, a centuries old beacon for guiding the salt ships into harbour…as well as one of the prettiest beaches in the world, Tropic of Cancer Beach, deserted, sheltered, warm, where the Tropic of Cancer really does cross the island…and the beaches and bar where many of the scenes from Pirates of the Caribbean were filmed. •Wander round Georgetown, the sleepy main settlement of the island, and it’s capital. There are precious few shops, but its charm is indescribable, and a great place to chill out and relax in a bar. There is really nothing like a holiday here in Exuma. Its beauty leaves you breathless, its people really are the most charming in the world.
