Our gite's are located in the peaceful village of Asnieres sur Vegre. The village has been voted one of the most beautiful villages in the Sarthe region. In the heart of the village you will find the River Vegre spanned by a medieval bridge complete with shaded banks. Asnieres is nestled with 15th to 17th century houses all adding to the charm of this pretty little village. We also run the local cafe 'Le Pavillion' serving lunch daily and evening meals via reservation. We offer afternoon drinks throughout the day and a selection of tempting Desserts, or simply a pot of tea or perhaps a cocktail.
We are a family run business which consists of myself Mark, my wife Nina, my mother in-law Liesa, brother in-law Ross & his wife Laura. We want our guests to have the best possible holiday experience in Asnières and for our guests to experience the laid back easy going lifestyle Asnières has to offer. We moved to France in 2006 and have never looked back. Asnières is a small peace of heaven and after a day of moving here we felt like it was home. We have been accepted by all the locals and help is always at hand. Our daily routine is always different and we wouldn't change it for the world. As well as running our gite business we also run the local cafe and provide food and drinks for locals and tourists.
Mark COFFEY purchased this bungalow in 2006
While we were living in the UK we decided to combine Nina's birthday and looking for a property in France. We looked all over France from small holiday homes to chateaux but when we came to Asnieres the pure beauty and charm of the village won us all over instantly. We all enjoy being out in the countryside and also we know we don't have to go to far for life's everyday essentials.
Our gites are on the same grounds as a 15th century Manoir house with superb gardens, stunning views across the river Vegre and most of all privacy. There is also nothing better than at the end of the day to sit in the garden or at the pool with a nice glass of wine and a BBQ.
The gîte was small but very well equipped, nice touches such as fans and fly screens were much appreciated in the heat! It was perfectly clean and whilst it didn't have a washing machine there was a very efficient one in a nearby building. The pool was lovely, spotlessly clean and well maintained and heated, which was welcome as with air temperatures of 37°c it would have been unbearably chilly if it hadn't been. Asnières is a gorgeous little village, with not much going on, so it's very quiet. The Manor House and church are, however, well worth a visit for their mediaeval frescoes. If church bells bother you at 7am, then you might be disappointed, but to be fair after day one you sleep through them pretty well. If you visit at the right time of year you will be able to walk round the grounds of the local château (Vieuxmoulin) - opening hours are for one week in August and some of the weeks in September. The Pavillon café is great, with simple but nicely cooked food and a pleasant garden to sit in. It's owned by the gîte owners who are English. The owners are friendly and helpful without being 'in your face' in any way. The village is pretty close to Le Mans which is a beautiful city with a mediaeval centre and plenty of big modern shops and little boutiques. It has an amazing light show on summer evenings, with projections on to 8 different buildings, including the cathedral and the town walls, and is a highlight of any trip, well worth going to see. There are also lots of lovely villages in the surrounding area; Sainte Suzanne, Parcé sur Sarthe and Saulges stood out for us.
Thanks in particular to Mark and Liesa for making our stay a very pleasant one.
A wonderful place to take the family. 2 adults 2 kids, lots of space around the well equipped pool area, and a well kitted out orchard view gite.
We loved our week in asnieres and Mark, Nina and Liesa have a gem in this sleepy village.
I look forward to returning in the future.
We really enjoyed our stay. The village was lovely.
The gites were as described if not better.
Mark (& Nina) were great hosts and were available for help or just a chit chat.
We had a lovey time in Asnieres. The gite was very comfortable and had everything we needed. The grounds and pool area were amazing, very peaceful and relaxing. There is great attention to detail, after our first week, lovey clean bedding and towels were provided. Mark and Nina were very helpful and gave helpful tips on where to visit and restaurants to try.
We have had a fantastic holiday and a big thank you to Mark & Nina fabulous hosts & chef, please can you come home with us! The gite was perfect the pool was fantastic and we were the envy of the rest of the AC Cobra group. We will be back.
