The apartment, just off the prestigious Boulevard Victor Hugo, has all the light and sunshine that comes from facing south east on the fourth floor. The large living room has two full size French windows, both of which lead to a full length balcony with a table and 2 chairs for meals, drinks and relaxing. Inside seating includes leather rocking chair and sofa which converts into a sofa bed, with paravent. The dining area has a round glass Habitat dining table and 4 chairs. The television includes a DVD player and offers multiple TV channels including a subscription to 4 opera/classical music channels. Free hi-speed wireless internet is included. The kitchen is fitted to a very high standard with granite worktops, Scholtes induction hob, grill & oven, microwave, Ariston washing machine & dishwasher, and large fridge/freezer. The bedroom has matching king size bed, wardrobes, chest of drawers and bedside cabinets. There is a separate WC with basin. The bathroom has shower and bath.

About Ray and Jacky Tarleton

Ray used to be a head teacher and Jacky taught English. We bought the apartment as a holiday home because we love the variety of Nice - sea, city, museums and restaurants galore. We are also both opera fanatics so a home in Avenue Auber, next to Rue Verdi and Rue Rossini, around the corner from Place Mozart was irresistible - especially when the estate agents told us what a desirable area this is.

Because of family commitments, we are unable to spend as much time in Nice as we would like. Until that changes, we like to share the pleasure of our apartment with others, so that they can also enjoy the delights of Nice.

Why Ray and Jacky Tarleton chose Nice

The area is convenient for everything. You don't need a car. Links to the airport and local destinations are easy. We use the airport bus (6 Euro and a 20 minute ride) to get here and then chill out for as long as we can stay.

What makes this apartment unique

We love the bright sunny mornings on our balcony. We draw down the sun canopy and enjoy coffee. The air is so clear it's no wonder so many Impressionist came here. At midday, we visit the nearby boulangerie or a local café for lunch and then go on to the Promenade des Anglais to read or swim. The sea is deep azure blue with warm currents so the season for swimming is a long one from April to October.

There are concerts, operas and musical events at the Opera House, in the parks and on the Promenade. The Nice Carnival is held in February each year and there are fireworks on Bastille Day. At Christmas there are many interesting decorations, a Ferris Wheel and the oyster and champagne bar.

If we're feeling energetic, we take a bus or train to explore Monaco, Cannes, Antibes or Italy. The choice is endless.

We have full internet access so can listen to UK radio or read the papers online on our lap tops. Our TV system has multiple channels to relax to in the evenings - unless we are meeting friends, eating at one of the many restaurants in the area, or seeing films in English (VO-version originale) in the local cinemas.

Notes on accommodation: This apartment is for non-smokers only and not suitable for children or pets. There is a newly renovated lift to the 4th floor, but it is too narrow for a wheelchair. The flooring is wooden. There are 2 portable fans. The central heating and hot water are gas. Cooking is electric. There is a sofa bed and paravent. Outside: Long balcony with views in 3 directions. Utility Room: Iron and ironing board in cupboard in corridor. Hairdryer. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Clean towels, including 2 large beach towels, are supplied, as are bedding and tea towels, beach mats and parasol. The property is cleaned after each tenant departs and the bed made up with clean bed linen. Other: Wrought iron balcony is a joy to sit on and admire the views in all directions, including the rococo building opposite and mountains in the distance. Wind-down canopy for shade.

Great apartment - great location

Comfortable apartment . Sunny and airy .Good standard. Quality kitchen , bathroom and furnishings. Lovely balcony . Great location, good area away from the bustle with good restaurants on doorstep . Very near train station, buses, old town, sea front, 5 mins walk . Friendly owners and local contact Celine, very welcoming. Would recommend without hesitation for a great holiday in Nice and surrounding coast.

What a joy it was to stay in Ray and Jacky's apartment -- very spacious, well appointed, excellent location, even niceer than the description. The apartment is full of natural light and we loved having the balcony, especially for a late afternoon or nighttime glass of wine. The place was spotless and beautifully painted. Furniture and decor were attractive, functional and smart for travelers. After 10 days in much smaller hotel rooms, having this amount of space AND the convenience of a washing machine was great for us. Celine is a gem and could not have been more helpful, although the apartment is set up so intuitively, we could almost have walked in with no assistance. We loved this place. The photographs actually don't do this apartment justice. It is truly spacious, modern, and beautiful. Celine was there to help orient us on arrival. After that everything went very smoothly. It's high enough up that the street noise from maintenance vehicles in the early morning was not too much of a problem. The internet was fantastically excellent, over 100 mb/sec.

The place to stay in Nice!

We had a lovely holiday in Nice staying at this wonderful apartment! It had everything you could need plus a few surprise extras. The location was perfect for exploring all that Nice had to offer and with the train station only a 5 minute walk away we were able to explore even further afield. Celine who met us on arrival is a lovely host and explained carefully all about the apartment. As she lives in the same block she would be close at hand if there were any problems - needless to say there were'nt any! Thanks to Ray and Jacky for letting us stay in their apartment and when we do return again someday it will be to stay there again.

Excellent week in a great apartment

Apartment was very clean and tidy with all the things you would need for a relaxing stay. Great balcony for an early morning coffee and croissant. Good location only 5-10 minutes from bars and restaurants although quite a long walk to the old town. Lots of small supermarkets and shops locally for supplies.

Overall I would definitely recommend a stay.

Superb stay!

We spent 5 nights at this extremely well equipped and central apartment. We relaxed ate out nearby and took a bus to Monaco for 1 euro 50! Spectacular views along coast can thoroughly recommend. Nice has so much to see and do, we will definitely be back. Thanks Ray and Jacky for letting us stay and also to Celine for her attentiveness.
