Lenvos is a recently renovated 16C private hamlet in the beautiful Blavet Valley. The owners live on site and maintain the gardens, swimming pools. They keep a low profile but are on hand to ensure you have a relaxing, hassle free holiday. The cottages have fully equipped kitchens and French windows looking out over the lakes or gardens. The cottage gardens are secure for toddlers and have BBQ, sun loungers and quality garden furniture. (Please note that La Maison does not have a fenced garden.) They have the benefit of UK satellite TV, ipod docking stations and a WiFi connection is available. The cottages are available for rent all year round being double glazed and fully heated. Lenvos Gites are four times winners of the prestigeous Maisons Fleuries Tourist Accomodation award. Guests can fish in our two private lakes and there are coarse fish trout in local streams and canal. There is abundant wildlife on our 15 acre grounds, with kingfishers, red squirrels and owls all regularly seen and heard. Situated at the end of a cul-de-sac there is no passing traffic but it is only 5 minutes drive into the beautiful historic chateua town of Pontivy. Pontivy has some lovely restaurants and plenty of good shops as well as a weekly market. The surrounding countryside is ideal for walking and cycling and Lake Guerledan has beaches and water sports.

This part of Brittany is well known for it's character and friendliness, making it a popular destination for both French and overseas holidaymakers. It is primarily a farming and fishing area so visitors can benefit from the fabulous fresh seasonal produce in the numerous markets and restaurants.

The region of Morbihan (South Brittany) has a temperate mild climate giving reliable seasons. The Region is bisected by the Nantes to Brest Canal which provides a tranquil waterway and the well maintained towpaths give traffic free walking and cycling. The canal passes through Pontivy and borders our grounds.

BEDROOMS: Bedroom 1 has a double bed. Bedroom 2 has twin beds which can be put together to form a Kingsize. Bedroom 3 has twin beds. Bed linen is provided and a cot is available.

BATHROOMS: The bathroom has wc, wash basin, bath and shower with tiled floors. The shower is thermostatic controlled and at mains pressure.

KITCHEN: The fitted kitchen has gas hob, electric oven, microwave oven, fridge with freezer above, kettle, toaster, coffee machine and dishwasher. There is ample crockery, cutlery and glasses. Outside is a charcoal BBQ.

LIVING ROOM: The living room is stylishly furnished with sofas, side lighting and occasional furniture. There is satellite TV, DVD player and ipod docking station. There is a wood burning stove. Views over the oriental gardens provide opportunities to see plenty of wildlife including red squirrel & owls.

OTHER: Laundry : A shared laundry contains washer, dryer and ironing board. Tourist information is available as well as a book and DVD library.

About Phil and Fiona Sutherland

The Sutherland family moved to Brittany, France from Cheshire in 2003. Having both worked in commerce in the UK we wanted to be able to have our own business in a better climate, live an outdoor life and enjoy our family growing up.

Since then, we have gradually renovated the hamlet of Lenvos to provide five holiday cottages. The fifteen acres of grounds now have award winning gardens, two fishing lakes, woods and a wild flower meadow.

Why Phil and Fiona Sutherland chose Pontivy area

We consider ourselves lucky to have found such a tranquil spot just five minutes from the busy town of Pontivy. Lenvos has all the peace and quiet a rural location but with shops, restaurants and plenty to do on our doorstep. Brittany has its own identity and culture within France as well as beautiful countryside, miles of beaches and friendly locals. Transport to and from the UK is easy with several ferry and air ports less than two hours drive away.

We love the mild climate and the reliable seasons. Living and cooking outside from May to September suits us and we have grown to fully appreciate our surroundings.

What makes this cottage unique

From our own experience we appreciate what an important part a holiday plays in todays busy lives. Our number one priority is that visitors expectations are exceeded and that they remember their holiday for all the right reasons. We really enjoy our own little bit of France and sharing Lenvos with our visitors.

If you need a restaurant booking or ideas for days out, we are always on hand if required.

If you want to relax and enjoy the tranquility of Lenvos there are plenty of quiet corners. For those who enjoy a more active holiday, there is superb cycling and walking nearby and there is a lovely golf course in Pontivy

Special interest holidays : Cycling, Birdwatching, Walking

Cycling:The area is superb for cycling. Generally the roads are quiet and drivers courteous. There are several mountain bike courses and trails in the blavet valley and forest surrounding the lac du guerledan. The area is well known for its road cycling with thousands of kilometers of good roads with climbs and descents. The Tour de France has passed several times in recent years with two stage finishes locally. For the occasional cyclist, we are on the Nantes to Brest Canal with its level and picturesque towpath and a disused railway provides an excellent and traffic free route. We have several bikes for hire. We have a bike shed to store your bike and we can advise on suitable routes for your ability.

Over 60 species have been spotted at Lenvos. There are Bird Reserves within an hours drive on Salt Marsh and Estuary. Locally are forests, lakes and heathland.

Coast/Beach:

The nearest beachs are on the south Brittany coast about 45 minutes drive. Our favorites are on the Quiberon peninsular which have beautiful sand and loads of rockpools. For observing French culture at its very best, a Sunday at Larmor Plage takes a lot of beating. The Lac du Guerledan is just 10 minutes drive and has beaches, lakeside restaurants and watersports dotted around its 15 miles of banks.

Travel:

The nearest ports are St Malo and Roscoff, both less than two hours away and taking ferries from Portsmouth and Plymoth & Cork respectively. RyanAir fly to Dinard and Flybe have flights to Rennes and Brest. Again all less than two hours away. Filghts from Ireland arrive in Lorient and Nantes.

Visitors can use the owners Travel Account and benefit from discounted ferry fares.

Distances:

Lenvos is 5 minutes drive from the village of Cléguérec which has bars, cafés, food shops, banks, doctors & pharmacy. It is less than 10 minutes to the historic town of Pontivy which has all amenities.

Notes on accommodation: Bed linen is provided and can be changed each week. Bath towels are available for hire. Cleaning: The property should be left in a similar condition to which it is found, but a cleaning service is available. The swimming pool is open and heated from May to the end of September. All cottages have private gardens with quality outdoor dining tables and chairs. There are sunbeds and shades are provided. Fresh bread and croissants are available daily in season. Bushcraft / nature appreciation is provied for children over 5 years one morning per week in season. Outside: The extensive gardens and grounds at Lenvos include two lakes, meadow, woods and river frontage. The shared pool area has an 11m x 5m heated pool and a smaller children’s splash pool. There are landscaped sun terraces providing privacy and mature Mediterranean planting. There is a childrens play area with slide, swings, a climing wall and sand pit. A fenced secret garden hides a two story play house which has plenty of toys and its own garden furniture! The field has a football area, and a badminton / volley ball court. There is also a boules area for those wanting to play the local game. During the school holidays, the owners host a childrens Bushcraft course which helps young visitors explore the grounds and learn about the wildlife and some outdoor skills. For the under fives, there is a kids club run by the owners daughters. Babysitting is available.
