This newly built property is close to the fishing town of Arklow (1.5km's) which offers an array of attractions including shopping, restaurants and bars. However it is still within the peaceful coastal countryside which has everything from amazing walks to fishing. It is also close to Glendalough National Park which has some of the most stunning scenery in the country which can be explored through it's many well guided trails. Wicklow has many walking and hiking options from the experienced to the novice. In the summer months there are many cultural events and throughout the year a host of attractions.

Malcolm & Tracey are our names & we built our house in 2010 and recently married in 2012. We live next door so are available anytime if anything is needed however because of the layout of the property you won't see us at all.

It's a beautiful location close to the beach & only a ten minute walk into the historic fishing town of Arklow where you'll find an array of pubs & restaurants which also hosts several festivals every year. Arklow is just off the N11 offering easy access to Dublin to the north and Wexford to the south which is linked by ferry ports or airports.

What makes this apartment unique

Close access to several beaches as the property is on the coast road and Ballymoyle Hill is only a ten minute drive away offering a magnificent walk & panoramic views of the town and the eastern coastline. Arklow itself is very close to the picturesque village of Avoca and Glendalough. the area has several golf courses and plenty of fishing opportunities in the area.

Notes:
Outside: Parking is plentiful and not an issue & there is plenty of space for children to play on a large front lawn, to the side is a fruit orchard with garden furniture. The property is down a small lane and therefore off the road and safe from any traffic. We also provide a picnic table / bench to enjoy the beautiful outside weather. Utility Room: There is a small cloakroom with storage available containing hoover, iron, ironing board, mop & bucket, spare linen & blankets. Also this is where the coin meter for the electricity is accessed. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: The property is cleaned in advance of your arrival and extra bed linen, blankets or towels are available on request. Other: We also provide free wireless internet connection (Download speed 10 Mpbs). The electricity is operated by a coin meter which takes 2 Euro coins.

Loved it!

Cute spot, very clean, quiet, located on a beautiful farm, not far from downtown though. Loved waking up to the cows outside our window each morning. The apartment was equipped with everything you might need, including an abundance of frying pans ;) Just remember to have a few 2 euro coins handy for the electricity. The owners are very helpful and kind and we are thankful they shared their beautiful home with us!

Very clean, beautiful location

My husband and I stayed at this property for 6 days and It was everything we needed! Very clean and spacious and I loved that it was on a farm! it was very easy to get to/from the highway to this location so it made adventuring around Ireland very easy. This is a great location and I would highly recommend!

Spacious and good value for those driving

Owner met us promptly on arrival and gave thorough review of accommodation. All dishes, utensils, cooking items and some spices provided. He also provided quite a bit of info about area. Great for recoverying from jet lag before continuing trip.

Good location

Good location, but not the best set up. The bed was very uncomfortable, with springs being felt in the mattress, as was the coach. There was only one frying pan, and it was not too great. The bathroom had no counter space at all and the towels seemed like old give aways. You have to pay for your electricity but had no way of knowing when it was getting low as it always stayed the same on the meter. So you could be in the shower and the water turns off. There was no warning. It would have been nice to have a back door and patio area, to enjoy the back field. The WIFI was intermittent and the TV channels,minimal. There was no closet, so we were unable to unpack and hang anything up, anywhere. There was no freezer, just the fridge. Nice and close to the town of Arklow and the beach.

Owner's Response: I'm sorry you were unsatisfied with your stay and will try to address the problems you had with the apartment. The bed is perhaps warranted and I have since purchased a new mattress however we never received any complaints before. The couch is a fold out couch and serves its purpose as an extra bed if required. There is a wardrobe and drawers combined within the unit but we have since purchased a chest of drawers which will solve any issues with future storage space for guests. As with a previous review you should perhaps realise the price is reflective of the facilities if we had a private patio area with a barbecue it would probably be more expensive. However the front garden is a large area and has a picnic table but Ireland's weather dictates that outside dining is not common and therefore not considered a priority in our letting. The broadband in the area is 10mbps and sometimes less, also the wifi decreases the speed by perhaps half. This is an Irish problem and much talked about but still not resolved and unfortunately out of our control. The electricity meter is listed in the property description and if change is required we provide no problem if asked. It dosen't use much and we suggest you keep it topped up to avoid being cut off in the shower. The usege varies but usually between €2/€4 per day. This is what we were advised to do when building the property and is commonly used in Ireland, although some people have commented on it as being a nuisance but it isn't seen as a major problem. The credit is clearly displayed on the meter. The fridge has no freezer but again the property is not listed as having a freezer and short stay guests generally don't tend to need one. We provide a Sky satelite box which has roughly 50 channels which seems plenty and also a drawer full of Dvd"s. I purchased a new frying pan although I don't understand why you need two frying pans? The bathroom has glass shelving under the mirror and a undercounter press below the sink which seems sufficient for a bathroom. The towels are recently purchased however the the water is hard and they are dried on the line which is maybe more your complaint as they are not soft like dried in a tumble drier. We never received any complaint during your stay and would've happily tried to help in any way if instructed to do so. I'm sorry you were unhappy with your stay and hope you will some day revisit our beautiful area.

Nice clean modern holiday let

The accommodation was quite adequate and comfortable for our stay in Arklow but lacked quality fixtures and fittings, a dishwasher and a freezer to rate it anything other than 3 stars. The kitchen was modern and the holiday let was spacious and light. It was located outside of the town in a nice quiet rural location which was ideal for us. Local Information about the area, ie, places to eat, visit, etc. would have been useful but was not provided. Would happily recommend to others.

Owner's Response: I'm sorry you weren't completely happy with your stay but the property lists the facilities and what it includes such as not having a dishwasher or having a washing machine as the case may be. There is plenty of information regarding activities and restaurants provided in the apartment. I did talk to yourself and your wife and suggest some local restaurants but have since compiled a full and comprehensive list of dining options around the local area for which there are many. Again I'm sorry if your expectations weren't met and it won't perhaps deter you from revisiting us again or indeed this beautiful part of Ireland.

The Glendalough Valley is located in the Wicklow Mountains National Park and has many attractions to entice, entertain and enthral visitors, from its world famous Monastic Site with Round Tower to its scenic lakes and valleys, as well as a selection of walks and trails in the area including The Wicklow Way.

Brittas Bay is the most popular beach in Wicklow & Ireland. It has a 5 km stretch of beautiful white sand dunes and has won and maintained the Blue Flag for many years now, this is 10 km's further up the coast.

Gorey & Wicklow are both 24 km's away and have a have a wide range of shops and restaurants. For the property you exit the N11 at Juncture 20 (Arklow North) and the distance from the motorway to the property is only 1.5km

Further Details:

Bridgewater shopping centre is an ideal shopping location which hosts many shopping outlets such as Next and River Island etc., there is a multiplex cinema as well as both restaurant's and cafés.

Wicklow has a ten pin bowling alley with 12 lanes and beside is a kid zone, also there is a kid zone in Arklow.
