Portese is a small village right on the lake's edge, part of the town of San Felice del Benaco. Its port, with full ferry services to all other ports on the lake, has beautiful public beaches with shading trees and public toilets, showers and changing areas. The beach and port look across the gulf of salo onto the majestic slopes of the Monte Spino and Monte Pizzocolo, above Salò, for a breathtaking combination of mountain and lake view.

The port and village of Portese are tiny, medieval, and absolutely charming. There are 4 excellent restaurants and pizzerias, a few good bars, a newsagent, a deli "salumeria" for meats and cheeses, and a small fruit and veg market with fresh bread. Right in the center of the village is the winery "le Chiusure" which you can visit, and has tours and tastings as well, and produces some of the finest Garda Classico, Gropello, and Rose of the region.

About a kilometer down the road, you will find the Baia del Vento, a great spot for a family day out, with a pizzeria right on the public beach, a big playground for the kids in view of the restaurant patio eating area, paddleboat rental, and plenty of public parking.

About 1.5km away is the larger village of San Felice, again with a few excellent restaurants, bars, and pizzerias, as well as post office and town hall.

Wonderful villa for a family holiday

  • 5 of 5

The villa is in a wonderful location fronting on Lake Garda. The pool and outside terrace are perfect for the hot August weather. We made the most of the pool and the kayaks on the lake. The property is well laid out although the bedrooms are compact. The property is beginning to show its age and the electricity is a bit quirky but overall the villa is well maintained and the managers left it clean with a lovely welcome tray of goodies. The managers communication before and during the holiday was first class and we never had any doubts of what to expect or what to do when we there. The proximity to the ferry (a few minutes walk) allows easy exploration of the lake with getting the car out. We found good restaurants which suited all the family (three generations) in Portese and Salo. We would recommend the villa to anyone we knew.

Wonderful holiday in Villa Portesina

  • 5 of 5

This holiday lived up to all our expectations and more. The villa is beautiful with stunning views of the lake and mountains. It's built in such a way that there is always a shady spot. The pool is sparklingly clean and is a good size. We had great fun on the lake in the kayaks. Although we had no car this wasn't a problem we managed really well both eating out and cooking at home using the shops and restaurants so close by. Novella and team were always on hand if we needed them and provided a competitively priced taxi to Milan. We had a wonderful time and would love to return.

pretty nice stay with kids and dogs

  • 4 of 5

absolut super service a anyx time from the Holiday garda Team, garden and lake view is top and couldn´t be better, Villa is nice and in a good condition but a bit old and there is to less comfort in the bathrooms this are all to small. Because of the low temperature outside is was very cold in the Villa and the Villa is build for the summerseason. Overall we had a nice stay, with nice People and so we Keep it in a very good mind, mostly of the view and the hospitality from the Holiday garda Team,

Amazing

  • 5 of 5

We have just had five amazing days in lake Garda, and the villa in portese was fab. The views from the villa are outstanding. And the location is perfect, you can catch all the ferries in a short walk through the looked gate at the bottom of the garden. And the restaurants are on walking distance as well. If we ever go back I will be booking the same villa again as it was all so perfect :)

Home from home

  • 5 of 5

We found Villa Portesina to be everything we expected and it made our special occasion (Ruby Wedding). We felt completely at home all week. This was helped by several things. Firstly the preparation. We booked 15 months ahead and Christina was with us all the way. Always on hand on email to sort things out and always at the end of watsap or text during our stay. She even got the handyman out at 10pm on our first night to solve a problem. We also booked Lara, the chef for our celebration meal. She catered for 15 with ease and with superb food. The next day she returned for our cookery course. That was great. Poor girl dealing with 1 Scotsman, 2 Canadian, and 9 English "cooks". She was ably assisted by Jennifer. There is no doubt we will be going back. Thank you Christina and Team.
