Perfect location, completely private but so close to everything. Its like being in the town and in the country at the same time!
The waterfront location makes for a constant cooling breeze that comes off the lake.
We just wanted to tell you we had a really great time, and hope to come again next year! Thanks so much for the great service!
We have just had five amazing days in lake Garda, and the villa in portese was fab. The views from the villa are outstanding. And the location is perfect, you can catch all the ferries in a short walk through the looked gate at the bottom of the garden. And the restaurants are on walking distance as well. If we ever go back I will be booking the same villa again as it was all so perfect :)
We found Villa Portesina to be everything we expected and it made our special occasion (Ruby Wedding). We felt completely at home all week. This was helped by several things. Firstly the preparation. We booked 15 months ahead and Christina was with us all the way. Always on hand on email to sort things out and always at the end of watsap or text during our stay. She even got the handyman out at 10pm on our first night to solve a problem. We also booked Lara, the chef for our celebration meal. She catered for 15 with ease and with superb food. The next day she returned for our cookery course. That was great. Poor girl dealing with 1 Scotsman, 2 Canadian, and 9 English "cooks". She was ably assisted by Jennifer. There is no doubt we will be going back. Thank you Christina and Team.
My parents, my husband and our dog already spent the second year in Villa Portese and next year we will come back again. For us, it has turned out as the absolutely perfect place to spend a quiet, relaxing week together. The view is incredible, the house is beautiful and the whole place is "dog-safe" (and we have a really small one). The pool is really big, the water quality excellent. The best thing for us is, that there is enough space, so you can hide from each other if you want (how do you think I could otherwise spend a week with my parents ;-).
We adore this place and Christina, the manager is highly interested that you have everything you need.
We highly recommend this place. But not in early June- thats when we will be there the next few years.
This was our second visit to Villa Portesina. It's a beautifully architectural designed villa - cool inside with lots of outside open space. The villa is right on the shore of Lake Garda an the mountain backdrop is breathtaking. The villa is easily accessible - we flew into Verona and out of Bergamo. There is so much to see and do. We visited Verona and Venice and were happy for the rest of the week to just chill by the pool or visit nearby Salo. There are also some great walks in and around Salo/Portese and some of the local bays are really pretty and laid back.
A Visit to Gabriel D'Annuzzio's house across the bay is also a great day
Christina and Novella (The Lake Garda Team) are extremely helpful - nothing is too much trouble - communication before - during and after is fantastic. Novella during our stay dropped us a couple of texts to inform us of a couple of local events taking place in Salo - and we enjoyed two great music evenings and a couple of great restaurants in Salo thanks to her recommendation. Ideal balance between the comfort of being very self contained - but having the luxury of a professional team on hand to help out if needed.
Villa Portesina is definitely a great place to stay on Garda lake. Stayed here for 9 days early in May, 4 adults and 3 kids (5, 11 and 12).
The garden is absolutely fantastic and exceeds any possible expecations! Terrific view, lots of space for kids to play, great outside dining area with a very nice fireplace and barcecue, a tennis table...
There is also a very nice pool. We were lucky to get some very warm days this May - in high season it would be absolutely great.
Villa has direct access to the beach and a boat. Unfortunately we did not manage to find some time to go fishing (although the owners kindly offered assistance with a license).
The house itself is rather old (but well maintained). This has its own charm, but after all it would be good to invest a bit in renovation (in particular the kitchen). Also internet connection was very poor (which is not always bad on holiday of course!).
The location is very convenient - we managed to travel all around Garda from here.
Highly recommend to everyone and would definitely stay here again when on Garda.
Thanks a lot for a great holiday!!!
Our family week away was absolutely fantastic. The villa was in a great location for our eldest member, in her 80's, as she could walk to the ferry and the restaurants. The facilities at the villa were spot on for the 6 adults in their 20's as the pool and the table tennis with the sunloungers were great. I being one of the parents had a wonderful rest as everyone was content and happy. It is a great place to chill out and I spent the day watching the view, swimming in the pool and lake and reading books - all in the sunshine. It was also good to get a villa with a lovely outside seating area and a comfortable inside seating area which both had enough comfy chairs for all the party. We like staying at different places but this villa was so good, we may even return. We flew to Treviso airport from Leeds, others in our party drove there and another lot flew into Milan but the roads were so good that it was a very easy drive from all directions.
Portese is a small village right on the lake's edge, part of the town of San Felice del Benaco. Its port, with full ferry services to all other ports on the lake, has beautiful public beaches with shading trees and public toilets, showers and changing areas. The beach and port look across the gulf of salo onto the majestic slopes of the Monte Spino and Monte Pizzocolo, above Salò, for a breathtaking combination of mountain and lake view.
The port and village of Portese are tiny, medieval, and absolutely charming. There are 4 excellent restaurants and pizzerias, a few good bars, a newsagent, a deli "salumeria" for meats and cheeses, and a small fruit and veg market with fresh bread. Right in the center of the village is the winery "le Chiusure" which you can visit, and has tours and tastings as well, and produces some of the finest Garda Classico, Gropello, and Rose of the region.
About a kilometer down the road, you will find the Baia del Vento, a great spot for a family day out, with a pizzeria right on the public beach, a big playground for the kids in view of the restaurant patio eating area, paddleboat rental, and plenty of public parking.
About 1.5km away is the larger village of San Felice, again with a few excellent restaurants, bars, and pizzerias, as well as post office and town hall.
