Beautiful Tuscan villa/apartment for couples,no children allowed. Right in the heart of Tuscany overlooking the village of Caprese Michelangelo and is set in 100 acres of the most beautiful mountain forests. The relaxing, heated salt water pool complete with Roman steps, sits in a peaceful olive grove with a breath-taking view through the mountains to the fairytale-esque Castle of Michelangelo.
The tranquil position, frequently described as 'paradise on earth' contains an abundance of wildlife where the birds sing all night and the fireflies provide a moving display of sparkling light. In years gone by, the villa was owned by the Vatican and was used to house monks from the monastery. Ideal for walking and cycling, the area is home to many fine restaurants, with truffles and mushrooms being a local specialty, and good Tuscan wines. The mountains and forests have inspired the three greatest artists of the Renaissance and remain largely unspoiled today. This is where the great artist Michelangelo was born and lived. The little chapel where he was baptised is in the village and a museum dedicated to him is within the Castle of Michelangelo. Nearby at La Verna is the Franciscan monastery retreat where St Francis of Assisi is said to have received the stigmata. Rich in Renaissance history are the local towns of Sansepolcro, Cortona and the medieval walled town of Anghiari. It is ideal for walking and cycling in particular. This exclusive resort of five self catering villa/apartments is the perfect place to relax.Self catering or meals can also be arranged at an extra cost. Complimentary aperitivo and warm bruchetta served every evening in the courtyard allowing guests to nibble and socialise.
Freyja purchased this villa in 2004
I was lucky enough to have come house hunting at the right time when this property had not yet been advertised and as soon as I saw the view I knew that nothing else would compare.

We had never been to Italy before this holiday and it was everything we could have hoped for and so much more. Picture postcard views, quaint little towns perched on hilltops and mountain sides, amazing restaurants serving tasty food, pizzas fresh from wood fired ovens, local wines and the peace and tranquillity of a fantastic villa to relax in. We will most definitely be returning but next time for a fortnight. Thank you so much for your kindness Freyja xxx
wonderful villa and superb owners and staff. The villa is elegant and comfortable and we have never slept so well as on that huge super soft comfy bed. Beautiful location and tremendous views. Fantastic base for seeing Italy and we took a train to Florence for only eight euro. Highly recommend this villa. Superb!
From the moment we arrived we were completely captivated, the stunning views, the sensational pool and a bottle of proseco, Fantastic local restaurants & pizzerias for dinner, charming towns to explore, an amazing lunch and afternoon at an Olive oil mill with superb hospitality not to mention the wine, have just booked for next year.
We spend our honeymoon at the beautiful Villa Michelangelo and really enjoyed every day there. Located in the most beautiful area of the Tuscany the villa offers a breathtaking view over the surrounding area and to the small village where Michelangelo was born. My wife and I enjoyed exploring the small villages around, relaxing in the saltwater pool or just chatting with the warm hearted owners Freya and Malcolm till late in the nights. Our apartment was clean and tidy, the beds were comfortable and the view was stunning. With our hired car it was easy to reach italy's most famous places like Florence, Rome or Venice within a short time. But by returning we always appreciated the peaceful and calm atmosphere around our villa. We are very happy that we found this amazing place and recommend everybody to spend at least two weeks there to experience the authentic italian way of life. We will definitely spend more following vacations at this beautiful place. XX Arnold and Marie-Johanna
We had an absolutely fantastic 2 week stay at Villa Michelangelo in the Michelangelo Suite. We were met (after 9pm) on arrival by Freya and Malcom who were so friendly and on hearing we hadn't had any dinner, quickly served a brilliant three course meal with prosecco! The apartment was beautiful, huge comfortable bed and amazing views out over the Tuscan countryside. We fell in love with the local village of Anghiari- recommend Pizzeria Bar Baldacchio for its location, pizza and friendly service. There are so many places to see in the local area which Freya can tell you about during your stay- she is happy and willing to give advice. She also arranged an olive oil tasting trip for us which was beyond expectations. It was the classic, rustic Tuscan experience and well worth the money. We would definitely go back and stay at Villa Michelangelo and would highly recommend if you're looking for a peaceful holiday with the option to soak up some local culture too. THANK YOU!! :) Natalie and Piers
We had booked at the villa for 1 week, this simply proved to short a visit. The villa is extremely comfortable with plenty of space and 1 bedroom. It has a well 'kitted ' out kitchen area, dining area and its own balcony. The views are breathtaking and the peace incredible. Freya and Malcolm are exceptional hosts finding the perfect balance of being there to assist when required but leave you to your own devices otherwise.
We took a train and visited Florence for the day and had 2 occasions to visit a local town, Anghari which was wonderful. Directions were easy and accurate and the situation in the Tuscan hills simply beautiful. The local town of Caprese Michelangelo is lovely and well worth a visit also.
The swimming pool, hammock's and other seating in the villa complex is plentiful and there is plenty room for all the guests each having a space should they wish to keep to themselves. The descriptions were accurate, the villa clean and tidy.
This was simply a beautiful experience and we intend to visit again. I will recommend this property to others.

The beautiful village of Caprese Michelangelo is where the great artist Michelangelo Buonarotti was born in 1475 and lived. The little chapel where he was baptised is still in the village and his home is now a museum which is set in the hilltop fortification of old Caprese, the castle of Michelangelo.
In the local Abbey there are historical records which show that Villa Michelangelo was previously owned by the Vatican and housed monks for the monastery at La Verna which is approx 18 km away by road. It states that the monks built a tunnel between the Villa and the monastery and that a church once stood here also. Although we have not yet found the tunnel we hope that one day someone will find it.
The area has many great local restaurants and supermarkets.
