About Chris Burrage
The Chez Burrage has been owned by the Burrage family since 2005. We are an active bunch who enjoy most sports and the outdoors. Our four children and ourselves have enjoyed many family skiing and summer holidays here.
Chris Burrage purchased this Chalet in 2005
Why Chris Burrage chose Saint-Jean-d'Aulps
We chose the Vallee D'Aulps for the access to the Porte de Soleil, hundreds of kilometres of skiing through traditional French and Swiss villages. Also, with 4 children, we find it is less costly than other more commercial ski resorts we have visited. The chalet is in very quiet cul-de-sac, with great views and private parking. Whilst Fleurs D'Aulps is half way between the town of St Jean D'Aulps and local ski lifts of the Grande Terche, it is tucked away from the busy crowds but only a short walk to the bars.
What makes this Chalet unique
Chez Burrage is large chalet with plenty of living space and bedrooms that you can swing a cat in (not that we have tried it!). The views are great and there is nobody overlooking you! We also own the small field next to the chalet which is great for snowball fights and snowmen.

A good family chalet
We had a great family holiday with lots of outdoor activites for the children to do in the area. It really appeals to the active sporty type especially those who enjoy extreme biking. The chalet was very comfortable and has a very 'home from home' feel about it.
Very comfortable stay
We had a lovely week Chez Burrage. The house is very comfortable with everything you need for a relaxing stay. You definitely need a car though. It was just our family but plenty of room for 2 families to share. The house is a short drive (walkable too but uphill - so best to walk without ski gear - ie in evenings to eat out) to the ski lifts, small supermarket and restaurants (Pere Bill excellent) and couple of bars. The ski hire shop there is good, a bit more expensive that some of the others but quality of ski hire stuff is good, they are very helpful and no queues when we went. It is only a ten minute or so drive to the main ski area (Argent is best as free parking and takes you up to Avoriaz area) but our kids had lessons some days in Morzine so on those days we parked easily under the Pleny lift in Morzine and did Morzine/les Gets on those days. Chez Burrage is an excellent location to access Portes de Soleil ski area. We definitely would like to return but also want to go in the summer as there looks to be loads for our children to do there (they are aged 10 upwards to teens).
A wonderful chalet in a stunning setting. Very spacious and well equipped. Ideally suited to family groups. Two balconies provide perfect spot to enjoy the morning sunshine. Close to local amenities in St.Jean D'Aulps (although quite a strenuous walk back up the hill) and only 15 minutes by car from Morzine and Les Gets.
Special interest holidays:
Great for mountain biking in summer. For those mentally unstable enough to try the black runs to something a little less challenging for beginners!
Swimming is available in the nearby lakes at Les Gets or Montriond, both about a 15 - 20 minute drive away. You can also drive down to Lac Leman at Thonon or Amphion Les Bains for a spot on the pebble beaches. If you fancy something more adventurous, try the white water rafting!
Geneve Airport it the nearest airport. It is just over an hours drive to Chez Burrage. Car hire is advised to give you the flexibility of where you ski. We recommend CITR on the French side of the airport. We have found that you can get some good deals via Easycar. St Jean D'Aulps is about 550 miles for Calais - it's about an 8 hour drive. Travelling back we recommend an overnight stop in Troyes. There are F1s and Campanile available.
