Guestbook comments from the owner

"Our 3rd visit to driftwood in 4 years! Like so many returning guests, we enjoy this cottage so much. Can recommend a visit to Scottish Fisheries museum in Anstruther. A special lunch was enjoyed at Seafood restaurant in St Monans (delicious food in a beautiful location).

Notes on accommodation: There are two bedrooms on the ground floor, one twin and one double. There is a splendid wooden staircase leading up to a stunning open plan kitchen/dining and living area. The living room area has a feature wood burning stove which along with the solid wooden floors ( which are throughout the whole property), just adds to the character of this superb cottage. This spectacular room has some of the best sea views in the area. There are views across the Firth of forth to Berwick Law, Bass Rock, Isle of May, and along the coast towards Crail. Truly wonderful! The cottage now has the added bonus of an outside sitting area ( Sitooterie) which is accessed through the courtyard at the rear of the cottage. Utility Room: Separate utility room has washing machine and freezer and microwave. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Central heating and initial supply of wood for the wood-burning stove are included in the rental price. All bed linen and towels are provided

Idylic seaside cottage with stunning sea views

  • 5 of 5

Driftwood Cottage is beautifully renovated to a very high standard, and makes the most of the spectacular sea views. A very quiet setting but close to coastal walks and a thriving seaside town so you're never short of things to do. Bright, warm and cosy Ian and Janis make sure it has all those little extras that make it a home from home at any time of year. Very highly recommended.

Great holiday cottage with stunning views

  • 5 of 5

Third time in this cottage and never fails to impress. Spotlessly clean and love the touches of fresh flowers etc. You could never tire of the views. Must come in the summer sometime to use the outside sitting area.

Comfortable

  • 3 of 5

We enjoyed our stay and house was wonderful, enjoyed the little touches of flowers etc. The one thing that we found very disappointing was the fact that the sitooterie was not part of or attached to the actual cottage. The pictures advertised make it look as though you walk out a back door to it, when you actually have to walk out front of cottage and along the street before going down round the back and through the courtyard. This was very inconvenient and every time I spilled my coffee or wine on the walk. Also it is not lit and very dark to get to at night. Suggestion - make it clear on advertising that it is completely separate from cottage and also some form of lighting and a fire pit or fire table would make it worth the walk back and forward.

Owner's Response: Glad you enjoyed your stay at Driftwood, and thought the cottage was "wonderful". Sorry that you didn't enjoy the sitooterie like our other guests have done all year. Like any outdoor sitting area, it is probably not best appreciated on a dark November evening!! That is when most people stick on the wood burning stove.

Gorgeous, spacious cottage with the most fabulous views!!!

  • 5 of 5

The cottage was a gorgeous "home from home" with amazing views! We loved having our coffee & croissants on the "sitooterie". A lovely part of the world. The Coastal Paths were great for walking & running. We loved visiting the neighbouring harbours & Elie Beach. St Andrews is very special. We loved playing on The Himalayas 18 hole putting course & West Sands Beach. Highly recommend!!!

Great house; great location

  • 5 of 5

Enjoyed a great week in the east neuk staying in this lovely house. Great sea views from all the windows and lots of lovely touches to make us feel really at home. Cellardyke is a great base for exploring all the lovely little villages in the east neuk and of course, an easy drive into St Andrews. Had a wonderful holiday in this gorgeous house and would love to think we will be back again.
