Why garth london chose Ambleside
Ambleside is in the heart of the English Lake District so there are many attractions in the local area.My dad worked at Windscale UKAE and used to drive through Ambleside on way up there from Warrington. When he retired he bought Lingmell as he loved the lakes and we decided to keep it in the family.
What makes this House unique
Ambleside is a 1 min. walk away yet this is a quiet private location. Amazing views from the wide balcony. Large detached house with gardens. Waterhead and Lake Windermere are 5 min. level walk away. Heated indoor pool with Jacuzzi adjacent/also tots pool.Having a heated swimming facility virtually next door is so convenient.

Very nice property, great location
***** The bathrooms are excellent - newly re-furbished - the shower in the en-suite is amazing!
***** Internet access is great @ 30Mbps; 4G signal also very strong
***** Sky TV will all the channels (including sports and movies)
**** Great view of Ambleside skyline and nearby hills
**** Decor is a little tired but quite acceptable and comfortable.
** Perhaps the only criticism could be the kitchen and in particular the oven which doesn't seem to reach temperature.
**** Very close to town (<3 minutes down a very steep footpath)
In summary - perfect if you want to be in Ambleside and don't plan to bake cakes. We would definitely consider staying again.
Ambleside in the sun.
Fantastically situated, extremely spacious and well presented. The property was clean and functional with luxurious bathrooms and everything that was meant to work, worked! The balcony was a real bonus and we were lucky during our stay to have sunshine all day long from late morning to well into the evenings.
The comms with the owner were very responsive, friendly and efficient. We couldn't have asked for more and I have already recommended Lingmell to several of my friends for later in the year.
Thank you very much Sandra,we are really pleased that you enjoyed your week .We appreciate that you have taken the time to write a positive review Thank you... garth and jane
Lovely spot from which to explore the local area
This house has a good location, very close to walks and amenities and we didn't have to use the car all week which was great. There were only 2 of us so we only used the upstairs bedroom and bathroom. Both bathrooms are very nice. The pretty enclosed garden is shared and accessed from one of the downstairs bedrooms or from the side passage and as we had a dog we had to access the garden from the side passage. The view over the town and the fells was great from the lounge and in better weather was nice to sit outside on the balcony on a sunny afternoon. We look forward to being able to stay again another time. We never had time to use the pool but hopefully next time!
Overall very nice
Great location ( quiet yet only 2 mins walk to town ) and lovely views across the town. You have several walks right from your doorstep and the lake landing stage is only 10 mins walk away. Generous and comfortable accommodation and access to the pool facilities very welcome during inclement weather. However the inoperative sauna was an irritation ! 1st impressions of the house is that it needs a bit of an update but to be fair everywhere was very clean and works well. The balcony is really lovely + spacious and a boon in sunny weather. The property is west facing which is great in the shoulder months ( we stayed in late April ) but we imagine that in high summer the aspect of the sun and steep slope would make the property very hot in the absence of aircon. We would also recommend better information on local attractions, restaurants etc for guests. Our only other gripe relates to the bedding. In particular the master bed mattress has really seen better days and the mattress cover doesn't help. It all sags + sways and we came away with varying degrees of back ache compounded by neck ache due to the very thick hard pillows. If this latter point is an issue for guests we strongly recommend you bring your own fave pillow with you.
Nice Property. Lovely views.
Really enjoyed our stay and had glorious weather (always keep our fingers crossed for the weather in the lakes!). Nice property, good location and lovely views. Hugo, our Boston terrier, liked the views too!
Superb location & beautiful views
Great base for exploring & walking in the Lakes. Close to the centre of Ambleside which offers plenty for all. Clean and tidy and with amazing views from the balcony.
