Lower Cumery Farmhouse, Bigbury, is a Devon Longhouse in part dating from 1760. It is surrounded by some of the most spectacular scenery in the South Hams. The coast at Bigbury and Burgh Island, Wonwell Beach, Bantham and beyond is between five and ten minutes drive away. Salcombe, Dartmouth, Dartmoor, Totnes and Kingsbridge (6miles) are within 20 minutes drive. This beautiful property sleeping 12, is perfect for one/two families, adult groups or those looking for a peaceful romantic getaway. Come and relax in this gorgeous, country house retreat. Curl up on the sofas in front of the Wood Burner in the drawing room, or soak up the sun on the terrace with a bbq and friends. Children will love the large playroom with table football, baskets of toys, games and books and have fun swinging in the hammocks under the trees and climbing on the wooden play house in the garden.

There are a variety of shops in Modbury. A Co-op, Bank, Pharmacy, deli & Coffee Shops. In Kingsbridge there is a Morrisons, various banks and numerous shops.

'The Oyster Shack', voted one of the best restaurants in Devon, is 5 minutes drive from our house and we simply love it. Another favourite is The Dolphin Inn, Kingston, a 5 minute drive. You could also Try The Journey's End, Ringmore. The First & Last Bistro, Ermington, California Country Inn, California Cross, The Modbury Inn, The Exeter Inn, Bistro 35 (Modbury)

Pennywell Farm Activity Centre, Woodlands Family Theme Park and The Aquarium, Plymouth are within half an hours drive.

You can do as much or as little as you want. The house is a magical, much loved, blood pressure reducing, relaxing haven.

Notes on accommodation: Children’s den: A light-filled sun-room with a wall of windows and views to the rear lawns. There is a sofa, small desk, games, toys, X large beanbags, table football and numerous books. Pens, paper & colouring in the kitchen bench cupboards. Views: Three acres of Idyllic gardens, woods, streams and an orchard surround the house with stunning far reaching country views beyond. Set at the end of a tiny hamlet and no-through road, it’s a Swallows and Amazons haven, perfect & safe for children and dogs. Additional information: The accommodation is on two floors. The Snug on the ground floor is carpeted but the other areas have wooden floors and the kitchen is tiled. All stairs and bedrooms are carpeted. There is central heating on the ground floor and electric\oil radiators on the first floor. Free Wi-Fi Internet is available but limited to some parts of the house, as is mobile/house phone reception. Smoking is only permitted outside. Pets are welcome but are not allowed upstairs Outside: The house is approached over a cattle grid, down a small hill to the parking area. There is a low stone wall separating the parking area from the garden & a garage (not in use). The front lawns are mainly laid with shrubs, trees, and a small ornamental pond. The garden features a larger than average climbing frame with integrated picnic area and covered camp areas, slide, swings and monkey bars. There are three additional swings on trees in this area. To the side there is an orchard with a variety of apple & plum trees, a shallow stream to two sides of the property which is adjacent to the woods and there are rear lawns, on two levels. There is a terrace running the length of the property at the rear with a pergola, garden furniture, two sun loungers and a bbq. Additional garden furniture is on the front lawn. Beach toys, hammocks, windbreaks and wetsuit hanging space is located in the garden store cupboard on the terrace. Utility Room: A laundry room with fitted units, tumble drier, washing machine, Belfast sink, iron and ironing board. Space for wellies and coats, stable door to rear terrace, second staircase up to bedrooms, and through to second ground floor cloakroom. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels and linen are included. Welcome pack including tea, coffee, sugar, bread, milk and eggs. We also have Elsyl Toiletries in the bathrooms upon arrival. Additional cleaning can be requested during longer stays. Other: Snug. A comfortable family room facing the front of the house with inglenook fireplace & wood burning stove. Two large sofas with cushions and comfy blankets for the colder evenings. Occasional furniture, games, tv, dvd, music system, chess table & chairs
