About the property

Cottage in Llanfairfechan, Near Conwy, Wales - Perfect Location, walk to the beach

Crud Y Mor is a traditional, whitewashed cottage, which has been extended to provide very comfortable accommodation for up to 6 people. It is situated in the heart of Llanfairfechan between the sea and the hills behind the village and the house offers views of both! Smart new kitchen and bathrooms, cozy, warm living areas and spacious bedrooms all create a home from home for your ideal holiday. The pretty rear garden is a peaceful place to be, if you can't summon the energy to explore and it is fully enclosed, should you be bringing a doggy friend with you! A relaxed walk through the village brings you to the beautiful beach with old fashioned promenade and Beach Pavilion cafe - the perfect place to stop and grab a bacon butty and hot drink and open all year round. Stop on the way back to purchase groceries in the local supermarket, or put your feet up and order a takeaway instead! A walk in the opposite direction takes you to the start of the Snowdonia National Park hills at the top of the village, where you can walk by the river.

About Dawn Nicholson

My husband, Brian, and I get away to Wales whenever we can. The cottage we call our second home was where my parents lived for many years. When they needed to sell up and move we couldn't bear the thought of not being able to holiday there anymore, so we bought it! Now we think we should share this heavenly place with others, so please come and stay! You will not be disappointed. The cottage is a home from home. You could spend a very relaxing holiday in Llanfairfechan, walking on the beach or in the surrounding hills, finished off with a visit to the pub or a cozy night in with a takeaway. Similarly, there are so many things to see and do with beautiful Snowdonia and Anglesey on the doorstep, there need never be a dull moment! It's your choice.

Guestbook comments from the owner

1. The cottage is a real delight. Clean and tidy, warm and comfortable, a real home from home. An excellent base for exploring the surrounding area. We stayed during December and enjoyed spending the days exploring the local area and the evenings very comfortably in the house. Good amenities on offer in the village. An ideal place for getting away from it all. All in all an excellent place to stay.

2. Thanks Dawn and Bri for another fabulous stay at your gorgeous cottage; we arrived late at night after a long journey to a lovely warm, cosy cottage. We found it incredibly well equipped with everything needed for a really comfortable stay.

But for us, the biggest plus is being able to bring our little dogs!

Great cottage highly recommended

  • 5 of 5

Highly reccomend this cottage. We have spent a lovely xmas and new year here. It's ideally situated to go to many places. Anglesey, Llandudno, Bangor & Betws y coed to name a few. The beach and nature reserve in Llanfairfechan are great for walks with the dog and half the beach is open all year round for dogs. The cottage is so comfortable and has all the amenities you could want. Dawn and Brian are great owners and nothing is too much trouble for them. We have stayed here many times and hope to do so in the future.

Situation and views good - pity about the dogs!

  • 2 of 5

Position and location ideal for our purpose - but we were not happy with dog hairs all over the cushions, carpets and settees especially in the living room. It was otherwise just about clean when we arrived. However, the dog smell got progressively stronger as the week went on. We sat on the sofas on our arrival and when we got up, our clothes were smothered with dog hairs. The cottage paperwork asked dog owners not to allow pets on the furniture, but this was obviously ignored. We tried to hoover the dog hairs, but the vacuum smelt worse even than the dogs. There was one grubby tea towel, and two hand and bath towels (so described, but they were much too small to be bath towels!) which were thin and tired and therefore not much use. There was no washing up liquid and only half a toilet roll in the property, which was disappointing. We loved North Wales and had excellent weather for the first four days - but in the end, left on the Friday and were pleased to do so. I thought I had read the booking information reasonable carefully, but obviously not thoroughly enough or the information we wouldn't have wanted to hear was cunningly concealed. We do not rent properties which welcome dogs, and we also like to enjoy some level of internet access occasionally.

Owner's Response: Dear Anon Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. Whilst your comments may not align with those that we usually receive from visitors to our home I can assure you that we welcome all feedback that we receive (good and bad) and always use it wherever we can to try and improve the experience at the house for our guests. We do hope that there were at least some positive aspects to your stay but thank you again for taking the time to raise those points which did not meet your expectations. Brian and Dawn

Charming cottage in a great location

  • 5 of 5

Our party of four adults, two teenagers and two dogs thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this charming well equipped and clean cottage.

Located on the coast it is well positioned for day trips to the mountains of Snowdonia, the beaches of Anglesey or the seaside resorts to the north etc though there are plenty of walks locally not least to the fabulous Aber Falls.

Having stayed in numerous self catering properties over the years this is one of the best!

Very cosy and clean house in a gorgeous area

  • 5 of 5

We (2 adults, 4 children and a dog) stayed here for a week this summer. The house was very clean, well equipped kitchen and good shower (very important with small children to have a good shower in the mornings :-) ) and even a cute garden. Communication with Dawn, the owner was very good. The locals were very friendly and even gave us some tips wrt where to go for days out. We were very sad to leave after one week and woukd have loved to stay on for longer.

Coast/Beach:

A relaxed 15 minute walk through the village brings you to the beautiful blue flag beach of Llanfairfechan. Looking out to sea, you will have a view of Anglesey, Puffin Island and Llandudno. Take a walk back in time - the only building on the promenade is the old pavilion, now a cafe. Take a stroll along the sandy beach, which is also a bird sanctuary. Just back from the promenade is a play park and outdoor paddling pool, as well as public tennis courts, bowls green and football pitch.

Travel:

Llanfairfechan is on the main A55 coastal road. It has a train stop for travel along the coast.

Liverpool and Manchester airports are within 1.5 hours drive.

Holyhead port on Anglesey runs ferries to Ireland.

Distances:

Llandudno 8 miles. Bangor 11 miles. Conwy 6 miles.

Further Details:

Llanfairfechan has two supermarkets and a sprinkling of other shops. There are pubs and takeaways as well as several cafes. Also an ATM for cash. There are many good restaurants in the area and we provide details of these at the cottage for your information. Llanfairfechan is very popular with walkers and bird watchers, but it is also an excellent base for exploring everything North Wales has to offer. We regularly visit Llandudno for its activities and beautiful Victorian seafront and shops. Very popular with our friends and family is also Betws Y Coed, from where you can partake in many outdoor activities, such as gorge scrambling and coasteering. If castles are your thing, head for Beaumaris, Caernarfon, Penrhyn or Conwy.
