About the property

Cottage in Llanfairfechan, Near Conwy, Wales - Perfect Location, walk to the beach

Crud Y Mor is a traditional, whitewashed cottage, which has been extended to provide very comfortable accommodation for up to 6 people. It is situated in the heart of Llanfairfechan between the sea and the hills behind the village and the house offers views of both! Smart new kitchen and bathrooms, cozy, warm living areas and spacious bedrooms all create a home from home for your ideal holiday. The pretty rear garden is a peaceful place to be, if you can't summon the energy to explore! A relaxed walk through the village brings you to the beautiful beach with old fashioned promenade and Beach Pavilion cafe - the perfect place to stop and grab a bacon butty and hot drink and open all year round. Stop on the way back to purchase groceries in the local supermarket, or put your feet up and order a takeaway instead! A walk in the opposite direction takes you to the start of the Snowdonia National Park hills at the top of the village, where you can walk by the river.

About Dawn Nicholson

My husband, Brian, and I get away to Wales whenever we can. The cottage we call our second home was where my parents lived for many years. When they needed to sell up and move we couldn't bear the thought of not being able to holiday there anymore, so we bought it! Now we think we should share this heavenly place with others, so please come and stay! You will not be disappointed. The cottage is a home from home. You could spend a very relaxing holiday in Llanfairfechan, walking on the beach or in the surrounding hills, finished off with a visit to the pub or a cozy night in with a takeaway. Similarly, there are so many things to see and do with beautiful Snowdonia and Anglesey on the doorstep, there need never be a dull moment! It's your choice.

Guestbook comments from the owner

1. The cottage is a real delight. Clean and tidy, warm and comfortable, a real home from home. An excellent base for exploring the surrounding area. We stayed during December and enjoyed spending the days exploring the local area and the evenings very comfortably in the house. Good amenities on offer in the village. An ideal place for getting away from it all. All in all an excellent place to stay.

2. Thanks Dawn and Bri for another fabulous stay at your gorgeous cottage; we arrived late at night after a long journey to a lovely warm, cosy cottage. We found it incredibly well equipped with everything needed for a really comfortable stay.

But for us, the biggest plus is being able to bring our little dogs!

Coast/Beach:

A relaxed 15 minute walk through the village brings you to the beautiful blue flag beach of Llanfairfechan. Looking out to sea, you will have a view of Anglesey, Puffin Island and Llandudno. Take a walk back in time - the only building on the promenade is the old pavilion, now a cafe. Take a stroll along the sandy beach, which is also a bird sanctuary. Just back from the promenade is a play park and outdoor paddling pool, as well as public tennis courts, bowls green and football pitch.

Travel:

Llanfairfechan is on the main A55 coastal road. It has a train stop for travel along the coast.

Liverpool and Manchester airports are within 1.5 hours drive.

Holyhead port on Anglesey runs ferries to Ireland.

Distances:

Llandudno 8 miles. Bangor 11 miles. Conwy 6 miles.

Further Details:

Llanfairfechan has two supermarkets and a sprinkling of other shops. There are pubs and takeaways as well as several cafes. Also an ATM for cash. There are many good restaurants in the area and we provide details of these at the cottage for your information. Llanfairfechan is very popular with walkers and bird watchers, but it is also an excellent base for exploring everything North Wales has to offer. We regularly visit Llandudno for its activities and beautiful Victorian seafront and shops. Very popular with our friends and family is also Betws Y Coed, from where you can partake in many outdoor activities, such as gorge scrambling and coasteering. If castles are your thing, head for Beaumaris, Caernarfon, Penrhyn or Conwy.

Charming cottage in a great location

  • 5 of 5

Our party of four adults, two teenagers and two dogs thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this charming well equipped and clean cottage.

Located on the coast it is well positioned for day trips to the mountains of Snowdonia, the beaches of Anglesey or the seaside resorts to the north etc though there are plenty of walks locally not least to the fabulous Aber Falls.

Having stayed in numerous self catering properties over the years this is one of the best!

Very cosy and clean house in a gorgeous area

  • 5 of 5

We (2 adults, 4 children and a dog) stayed here for a week this summer. The house was very clean, well equipped kitchen and good shower (very important with small children to have a good shower in the mornings :-) ) and even a cute garden. Communication with Dawn, the owner was very good. The locals were very friendly and even gave us some tips wrt where to go for days out. We were very sad to leave after one week and woukd have loved to stay on for longer.

Just so relaxing

  • 5 of 5

Having stayed here before we decided to book for a week over Xmas. We had a great week with cold but sunny days which we spent walking and back to the cottage for warm drinks. We had our Xmas day lunch at the "Split Willow" in the village, great food and then a walk on the beach promenade. Love this cottage and Llanfairfechan is lovely any time of the year

Pretty white cottage with great views!

  • 4 of 5

The cottage was well located for walks around a pretty village and sea front, as well as having great access to North Wales, Anglesey and snowdonia. A cosy well appointed cottage with everything needed for a self catering week away from home. Everything was as expected and the welsh weather was kind to us at the end of October. Would love to come back again!

Cottage would have been nice had it been cleaned

  • 2 of 5

On arrival the refrigerator was full of water in the bottom section and covered in ice on the sides and back, spent around 45 minutes defrosting and cleaning it. The shower cubicle also hadn't been cleaned and showed signs of the previous users. There was a water leak from the hand basin. Back in the kitchen the cooker was dirty and extractor fan housing very greasy and in need of a deep clean, this included the adjacent kitchen light switch which was unpleasant to use. In general the property was in need of a thorough clean, particularly the second bedroom where it was possible to write your name in the dust on the bedside table! All of these points were raised with the owners, but the only one attended to was the water leak and that was on the day before we were leaving.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your feedback. We do take all comments about our home (positive or otherwise) very seriously and clearly, on this occasion, the cottage has not met with your expectations. We have taken steps to address the points you have raised and appreciate the time taken to give us your views.
