It is set over 3 floors providing spacious comfortable accommodation, ideal for families looking for a quality holiday home. On a quiet pedestrianised street, it is the ideal place to stay to enjoy the best St Ives has to offer, all within easy reach. Gas central heating, electricity, linen and towels all included. Free WiFi. Parking space included.

About Kate Akkerman

Me and my husband live in Oxfordshire with our 2 young sons. We have enjoyed many special holidays in St Ives and have recently realized our long held dream of owning our home there.

St Ives is special to many people and, like them, we enjoy the beaches, turquoise sea and unique old town of this truly magical place, a contrast to our main home in the countryside.

We have tried to make Mario House our home away from home and therefore we hope you will enjoy your holiday as much as we always do.

Why Kate Akkerman chose St Ives area

We wanted our home in St Ives to be in the Downalong area as this allows you to be on the beach, in the harbor or at the shops within a couple of minutes walk.

This part of St Ives has remained true to its origins with many Grade II listed buildings and provides you with a unique flavor of times gone by.

What makes this house unique

Mario House is a spacious Grade II listed cottage with bags of character whilst enjoying all modern comforts boasting 2 bathrooms a kitchen diner, central heating, Wi-Fi and a 2 SMART TV's.

For those who know St Ives, parking is at a premium and we are delighted that we can offer a car parking space which is included in the rental price, and is situated a 10-15 minute walk from the property.

Second time staying at Marios House .

Everything perfect at Marios for 5 ladies in our 60s who met in 1973 working the summer season in hotels in St Ives . Meet for a catch up every two years , going to make it every year lots of memories very special place for us all . Marios the icing on the cake for us . Clean, bright , comfortable. So close to the harbour , island, beaches , restaurants and shops . PERFECT

Superb Position, quality cottage with lovely fitments, top quality equipment very warm and comfortable

only downside is distance to parking space. would be difficult for anyone with mobility issues.

Perfect location close to shops and the beaches. The cottage was very clean, spacious and nicely decorated. Having a washing machine was great for the evening wash of beach towels and sports gear (some good runs along the coastal path and we had a great surfing lesson at Porthmeor beach). All of the kitchen appliances were high quality: all very well equipped. It was lovely having the big kitchen table to sit around for family meals. Comfortable beds, two good bathrooms and plenty of hot water too. One of the best self-catering rentals we have had.

We enjoyed several meals out and none too far away. There is a good fish and chip shop around the corner from the cottage (the Balancing Eel), and the veggie daughters were delighted with Spinaci's restaurant. The Norway convenience store is a couple of doors away but you definitely pay for the convenience!

Brilliant short-stay break-wish we could have stayed longer. Thank you.

Splendid holiday cottage

Mario House is a splendid holiday cottage. It's in a terrific location in the Downalong part of St. Ives. Porthmeor beach and the Harbour are within a 1 minute walk. Restaurants, bars, bakers and other shops are also very close but at the same time Mario House is in a quiet location off Norway Square. The cottage is very well equipped and has everything you are likely to need for an enjoyable and comfortable stay.

2 minute walk to award winning Porthmeor Beach - Blue Flag, family and surfing beach with surf school, restaurant and kiosk, life guarded April to Oct.

2 minute walk to harbour, watch the fishermen, take a boat to see the seals and coastline.

5 minute walk to Porthgwidden beach, delightful small sandy cove with gentle waves and sun-trap with safe bathing, restaurant and kiosk.

Nearest airport - Newquay (approx 1 hour driving time).
