An old fisherman's shed, this one bedroom cottage is right on the edge of Portwrinkle Beach. Inside there is one double bedroom with fitted cupboards, a bathroom with combined bath and shower, and then an open plan living room, kitchen/diner that has a large window looking out over the sea. There's a small garden with picnic table and parking space alongside, then a bench at the front gives guests somewhere to sit and watch the sun set over the water.

Amazing view lovely snug cottage
On arriving I was pleased to see that we had everything we needed all in the cottage, it was clean and well decorated. Every thing worked and the kitchen was well stocked. The beach opposite was very quiet and the dog loved the freedom. Every one we spoke to was friendly, and the costal path was accessed easily. The jolly Rodger cafe was awesome great coffee and cake. I would definitely visit again. You just need a broom and dustpan and brush
Could have been better
Very compact and functional but the rubbish cage at the back of the house was disgusting with a rat coming out as we put the rubbish in . All of the rubbish had been ripped and it was very unhygienic. I think the general cleaning of the inside of the house could be better as the dish bowl smelt awful and the shower plug was full of hairs ,
Thank you for the review - the rubbish cage behind the house is nothing to do with the property, it is owned and is for the neighbours only, we have two bins at the rear of the house.
I would also like to point out that the review was left by a guest from whom we had to withhold part of the deposit because their dog had urinated on the sofa covers and we needed to have them properly cleaned.
Lovely position. All ready for us when we arrived. Thanks.
A delightful cottage in a beautiful location
Some people think Cornwall starts west of Looe, but it isn't so! We stayed at a small fisherman's cottage (completely updated) in the small town of Portwrinkle on the south east coast, just past Plymouth. The cottage was perfect for two people - lots of room, and very comfortable. We were fascinated with the view of the ocean out of the front window, and enjoyed watching the tides come and go (seals too!). If you are looking for a quiet place to stay, close to hiking and excursions near Plymouth, then this is a lovely spot. We always looked forward to returning "home" at the end of a long day.
Great cottage for two by the sea
Blessed by excellent weather, our stay at Rocket House was fantastic. Reasonably well equipped cottage, clean and tidy. Mealtimes by the window over looking the sea, or even outside, enjoying the views. The little village of portwrinkle has two beaches, one right on the doorstep, offering something for everyone. Sunsets were awesome on a couple of nights. Also enjoyed the South West Coastal path, in either direction from the cottage, and further along the coast at Rame Head. More stunning views of coves and cliffs. A very enjoyable week
comfortable in a slightly desolate setting
Avoid Plymouth and Loue. Be aware that right there at the cottage there is no phone coverage. You have to drive to the top of the hill above the hotel and try different spots. Do not attempt that drive near or "on the hour" as it is a long one lane road and a huge red bus hurtles down. Do not take the google maps shortcut, only come down from the top of the hill above the hotel. Then just keep going till you see it. Make doubly sure you receive the code for entry well before arriving - you may have to ask for it and you cannot once you get there. Hope this helps and good luck.
Thanks for your comments Brett - there is very limited telephone coverage at the property, but there is fibre optic broadband, so if future guests have a telephone that can handle internet calls it might be worth downloading an app to be able to make or receive them.
