One of my favourite places
We stayed over Easter and it was warm enough to sit by the pool and swim everyday. Lovely walks to local restaurants which are excellent and lots of merrymaking with friends and family. Breakfast on the terrace every morning too. Girona also has great restaurants and a circus which the kids loved. The beach at Llafranc is as good as any you can find. Definitely recommended.
I have been going to Mas Calvo for many years and hope to carry on doing so. It is perfect at every level. If you want seclusion you can stay within the grounds or walk in the valley and nearby hills. Or you can venture to the beautiful village (great restaurant) in a few minutes on foot or drive to any number of spectacular destinations - Girona, the Costa Brava etc. A perfect start to whatever holiday you want.
The very best of spain
We have been to.this completely charming manor house twice in the last year and have nothing but good things to say. The house itself is extremely comfortable with everything you need and very spacious. The thick walls and shutters mean it stays cool in the summer and warm in the winter. Sitting on the terrace in the sunshine, over looking the beautiful gardens, there is nowhere I would rather be. The swimming pool is a decent size and there's also table tennis to keep the children amused . It's a short walk from two excellent restaurants and a short drive to Girona with its magnificent cathedral, shops and restaurants.
magnificent country villa filled with antiques
Beautiful and spacious villa, fun pool and lots of outdoor dining space for our family of 18. Kitchens could use more supplies but adequate. Ideally located.
Highly Reccomended . Only 20 min from Gerona. Set in the hills with wonderful garden and traditional stone house. Everything you need from a holiday including an inviting swimming pool. We will definitely stay here again.
a fantastic experience
Beautifully restored home, luxurious but cosy. We have stayed at Mas Calvo In the winter and in the summer, once with friends and once with 2 young children. Both times Pablo and Rosy were amazing hosts, recommending walks, restaurants and day trips. Highly recommended, you wil be charmed! And we will be back again for sure.
20 mins from the dazzling Costa Brava, its stunning coastline, sandy beaches, beautiful villages and water sports. Enjoy the coast in a countryside haven away from the crowds. Living in the Gavarras National Park you have stunning hikes and mountain biking on your doorstep. Forage for mushrooms or hunt wild boar. There is a riding school next door and even Armstrong moved to our area for the best cycling roads in the world. BEACH LIFE 20 mins from the dazzling Costa Brava, its stunning coastline, sandy beaches, beautiful villages and water sports. Enjoy the coast in a countryside haven away from the crowds. The numerous, excellent beaches of the Costa Brava are within a 15 minutes drive. You can choose from large, sandy open beaches with a wide selection of watersports along the coast or smaller more intimate bays and stunning, coastal towns such as Tamariu, LLafrank or Begur. In nearby Estartit you will find the Medas Islands which were declared a protected area in 1983 and are now becoming one of the more important marine reserves in the Western Mediterranean and hosts the largest dive center in the Mediterranean. FOOTHILLS OF THE PYRENEES Venture inland to the beautiful lake of Banyoles, historical city of Besalu or hike in the spectacular, volcanic Gavarres National Park. ART Do you like art? The Dali triangle is fantastic. The amazing house he bought for his wife is in the next door village and his museum at Figueres and residence at Cadaques are only an hour away for a great day out. Then an hour and half away by car or train Barcelona's streets just drip with the awe inspiring architecture of Gaudi. The area has been known for its ceramics since roman times and one can visit the nearby town of La Bisbal for ceramic shopping and the Friday morning outside food market. HISTORIC VILLAGES and ROMAN RUINS Surrounded by beautiful medieval villages such as Pals and Peretallada, you can spend a lovely morning at markets and cafes or go back further in time and view the excellent roman ruins at Empurias. FIESTAS In July and August there are local fiestas every weekend with traditional Catalan dancing, food, fireworks, flowers, funfairs and music. GIRONA The largest town in this province is the charming city of Girona which is 10km away and which is known for its restaurants, shopping/nightlife, Gothic Cathedral, old town/fortifications. GASTRONOMY There are various Michelin starred restaurants and many wonderful off the beaten track, local, authentic, affordable eateries. Hosting, Cella Can Roca, the Number 1 restaurant in the world, Girona is a gastronomic adventure and 2 of the top countryside restaurants are in our village. Having owned a restaurant ourselves we can advise you on the best places to eat at the coast as well and arrange a fantastic chef to come in and cook for you at home. Foraging in our national park in is especially good for mushrooms and wild asparagus. SKI and CHRISTMAS SHOPPING Come in winter, its so easy. Large open fires, (under-floor heating in the 8 bed villa) with the ski slopes are only 1 1/2 drive away. Christmas shopping is magical in Gerona 20mins and Barcelona is just 1 1/2 away.
