A group of us recently stayed here for a week and the service provided to us was top-drawer. We were extremely impressed with our concierge Jackie, who was always available, extremely helpful and made our stay very comfortable. I must also commend the daily maid service which was very thorough.
The villa is located in the sleepy village of Megalochori which is away from the hustle and bustle of the more touristy places which are all within easy reach. This suited us perfectly, though it did take some getting used to the church bells next door very early on the first morning (a Sunday)!
The villa itself is well appointed. Thanks to some of the earlier reviewers, we had a brand new BBQ provided and made full use of it! I would recommend that a kettle is provided in each of the bedrooms (we had one among the three bedrooms so we had to make sure that the early risers had the kettle) and perhaps a microwave oven in the kitchenette upstairs (or is that being too fussy?).
I agree with all the positive remarks made in the other reviews.
On an unrelated note, we had a very unfortunate experience with a car we rented from www.santorinicarhire.com (Emver from Kamari). I would not recommend them as our experience with them has been extremely painful and unprofessional, with very intimidating and threatening behavior being directed at us when they tried to charge us for pre-existing damage on the car.
We were 3 families traveling together, from toddlers to preteens, and the space couldn't have been more perfect and the staff was super accommodating, accessible and the location was just amazing. Sunsets are spectacular and the charm of the villa and Megalochori are really authentic. I would definitely be returning!!!!
If you are looking for a great, big, stone villa for a group of friends/family in a quaint little town, look no further. There is tremendous indoor and outdoor space, the cave master bedroom and the rooftop living room are simply gorgeous. The town is so cute, very easy to walk and it has 5 very yummy restaurants within a minute's walk. Stock up on wine and snacks at the local market, enjoy the skyline views and don't forget to meet Takis the owner...he's the man!
We stayed at Villa Kyani for 2 beautiful weeks in August 2016. The villa is centrally located and just a few steps to the town center of Megalochri.
The home itself has 3 suite-like apartments each with its own full bath. The garden and outside area of this home is absolutely beautiful and we spent most of our time together in the garden. The pool was a huge hit with all the children. Internet is available. Lovely views of the mountains and the town - the sea can be seen at a far distance.
The villa is in the perfect town for a family with all aged children(I have a 2 year old). The town of Megalochri is close to the best beaches on the island and is a perfect true getaway. We visited the island's bigger tourist attractions like the town of Oia when we wanted, but preferred to be away from the bus loads of tourists and the frenzy.
Jackie was the caretaker and helped us find the most fantastic baby sitter. She helped us get reservations at wonderful restaurants and planned a beautiful boat trip.
The local people in this town made us feel welcome and cared for. My son was a changed little boy after his 2 weeks on this heavenly island.
Must haves: Rent a car. Breakfast at the nearby Vedema Hotel was a must for us. Make sure to buy water shoes for the beaches.
This is not the first time my wife and I have visited Santorini but I can honestly say it was one of the best...
Our stay in mansion Kyani was truly an experience I would wholeheartedly recommend to any demanding traveler.
The day we arrived was very hot and our trip a little tiring but we were fully rewarded when we took a refreshing dip in the swimming pool and relaxed with a chilled bottle of wine (courtesy of management) in the cool courtyard. The rest of our stay fully lived up to our expectations.
Centrally located in what is probably the most traditional village in Santorini, the mansion captures the breathtaking beauty of this unique island. Exquisitely decorated and impeccably kept, the mansion offers a stunning view of the traditional village of Megalochori, a very inviting courtyard, swimming pool and overall excellent outdoor as well as indoor facilities. In the village you can find all you could possibly need from shopping to dining and night entertainment. The caldera is within walking distance, while it is only a short drive to the island's unique beaches and other beauty spots. The manager, Takis, and his staff further enhanced our experience with their friendliness and excellent service. Will definitely go back!!!
We had a fabulous week at this stunning villa. We had everything we could want or require throughout. The people were so friendly and helpful and nothing a chore. We are at three of the local restaurants during our stay and the food was tremendous. The villa manager and concierge provided a prompt first class service and I wouldn't hesitate to return to this stunning villa or recommend to a friend. A stay at mansion Kyani-Santorini will give you a fantastic experience of Greek life and its traditions.
The peaceful little village of Megalochori is a much sought after and appreciated holiday base from which to enjoy the many attractions of Santorini. Only 6 km from the busy town of Fira, it is another world and an ideal holiday base for those who want to relax and enjoy the many attractions of Santorini from a different perspective.
Megalochori was inhabited by many feudal landlords of the island at the past. These merchants and landlords became wealthy exporting the unique Vinsanto wine, which the island still produces. Megalochori had a particularly strong link with Odessa in Russia and many of the church bells which still toll in the village today are from Russia.
This traditional settlement has retained its charm and authenticity despite the rapid touristic development of Santorini. Its traffic-free cobblestone streets , its Venetian bell towers and its lovely square with the chic restaurants make Megalochori a première destination for the concerning visitor of Santorini.
