I am a married mother of 4 children (26,26,19 and 17 years old). I play tennis, enjoy house interiors and love my pug dog Mabel. I have chickens and enjoy cooking, gardening and travelling.
Philippa purchased this Cottage in 2014
Why Philippa chose Brenchley
We had 4 empty stables that we have just renovated into this luxurious property which is in a quiet and secluded spot.

Very clean, tastefully decorated and well appointed property, if fairly bijou in size.
We understand the owner was away however despite the owner's son being present nobody came to see us at all during our stay. We chatted to Jane the housekeeper whilst she was cleaning the other property but the owner's hospitality was poor.
The instruction manual could be improved e.g. there were supposed to be 2 bikes available but they were nowhere to be seen and we had to guess how to split and where to put recycling, rubbish and compost.
Given the size of the property some practical details could be improved eg. there was nowhere to put anything down in the bathroom other than the windowsill and there was no dressing table other than the small table near the front door which was covered with ornaments. There was no teapot, bread knife, washing up bowl or dustpan and brush which were all curious omissions in our long experience of visiting cottages.
However overall we enjoyed our stay and the cottage is very peaceful and very well placed for visiting some interesting places in Kent.
Really sorry to hear that you were not happy wth the barn. I wished you would have contacted me during your stay as Jane or my son Alex would have been more than happy to assist you in away way. Alex came over many times to see you but said you were always out when he tried. Jane managed to speak with you and said that you were very happy with everything. The bikes are locked away but If you had emailed me I could have had them made available to you. There is a cupboard in your courtyard with a hoover and various other cleaning products should you have needed them. The bread knife is in the pot above the stove. The garage where your car was parked houses all of the recycling bins which were clearly visible and I am surprised that you didn’t see them as your car was parked right next to them. Apologies once again as we pride ourselves on our 5 star rating and wish you had given us the chance of making your stay perfect. Kind regards. Philippa
The Old Stable in Brenchley UK.
We had a wonderful and all too short stay at this comfortable bungalow located in a beautiful area of England, Phillippa was an energetic host who readily provided suggestions on what to see and do. The stable has been fully renovated and has a nice cozy feel to it. The kitchen was fully equipped with quality appliances and was more than adequate for the two of us. The grounds are notable for their serenity and the chance to walk through Phillippa's large garden.
We highly recommend this property.
I hope to meet you both again. Thank you for coming to stay.
Beautiful little home, lots of character. Ideally romantic 💕
We were welcomed to a log fire burning away and beautiful music playing after our journey, we arrived quite late but not a problem, directions were easy enough as was access to property. We stayed for a weekend, possibly would've needed to bring a few more kitchen utensils if planning to stay longer.
Nice touches of having two bath robes, coffee machine.
Slept super well, the bed was immensely comfortable! Shower was amazing!
Overall we had a really nice stay just a shame it wasn't longer ☺️
Pleased you enjoyed your stay. Do come back anytime. Philippa
Lovely stable conversion in beautiful Brenchley
Philippa and Neil were very welcoming and friendly hosts. The stable conversion is very tastefully furnished, and very conveniently situated. I'd recommend getting a National Trust membership as there are some wonderful properties nearby. We loved the veggie patch, the apple trees, the puppy, fresh eggs from the chickens, Philippa's raspberry jam. A fabulous place to stay for a quiet holiday with terrific hosts.
Oh what a lovely review. Thank you so much. Philippa
Very welcoming Old Stables
What a nice feeling it gives you to be welcomed the way Philippa did. A whole week we stayed in "The Old Stables" and experienced the same feeling as on arrival. She was always nearby and very helpfull (wenn needed). The cottage made us feel like home; to live between all the beautiful and healthy things (vegetables and fruit from own garden) and the ability to use natural care products, gives one a nice feeling.
Which direction you may go, everywhere is something to find to your interest. On the go straight past lovely cottages, quiet country roads and stunning views.
In terms of cottage, surroundings and owners highly recommended!
Stayed in "The Old Stables" 7 days from August 12, 2017.

Many thanks for your kind review. I do hope you will come and stay again. Kind regards. Philippa
What a lovely surprise!
The property had been converted and fitted out to a very high standard. It was very well maintained and spotlessly clean. The location was a real oasis of peace yet it was so near many interesting towns, special gardens, historic places to visit and an easy train journey into London. In contrast it was only a five minute stroll to the local pub and there were many good places to eat and drink within a short drive. We loved sitting and eating outside and having access to tubs of herbs and vegetables from the garden was an unexpected luxury. The owner was really welcoming, helpful and gave us hints and ideas to make our stay one that we will remember. Thank you so much.
Thanks for your lovely review. Hope you will come and stay again. Philippa
