About Philippa

I am a married mother of 4 children (26,26,19 and 17 years old). I play tennis, enjoy house interiors and love my pug dog Mabel. I have chickens and enjoy cooking, gardening and travelling.

Philippa purchased this cottage in 2014

Why Philippa chose Brenchley

We had 4 empty stables that we have just renovated into this luxurious property which is in a quiet and secluded spot.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We could have spent two days just relaxing without having to leave the property. We were very comfortable in the well appointed suite and enjoyed the sunny patio. Walking around the property and discovering the pond at the far end of the wheat field was a perfect ending to the day. The hiking trails, starting just outside the property's driveway, led to amazing views of the country side. Nearby towns and villages were just a short walk or a few minutes drive away and had everything we needed. It was a great location to be able to venture out to discover world famous gardens and historical sites. Kitchen, bathroom and bed were all of superior quality. Philippa and her family were welcoming and helpful. We would recommend this property to anyone and will certainly tell our friends about it back home.

Beautiful little home, lots of character. Ideally romantic 💕

  • 5 of 5

We were welcomed to a log fire burning away and beautiful music playing after our journey, we arrived quite late but not a problem, directions were easy enough as was access to property. We stayed for a weekend, possibly would've needed to bring a few more kitchen utensils if planning to stay longer.

Nice touches of having two bath robes, coffee machine.

Slept super well, the bed was immensely comfortable! Shower was amazing!

Overall we had a really nice stay just a shame it wasn't longer ☺️

Lovely stable conversion in beautiful Brenchley

  • 5 of 5

Philippa and Neil were very welcoming and friendly hosts. The stable conversion is very tastefully furnished, and very conveniently situated. I'd recommend getting a National Trust membership as there are some wonderful properties nearby. We loved the veggie patch, the apple trees, the puppy, fresh eggs from the chickens, Philippa's raspberry jam. A fabulous place to stay for a quiet holiday with terrific hosts.

Very welcoming Old Stables

  • 4 of 5

What a nice feeling it gives you to be welcomed the way Philippa did. A whole week we stayed in "The Old Stables" and experienced the same feeling as on arrival. She was always nearby and very helpfull (wenn needed). The cottage made us feel like home; to live between all the beautiful and healthy things (vegetables and fruit from own garden) and the ability to use natural care products, gives one a nice feeling.

Which direction you may go, everywhere is something to find to your interest. On the go straight past lovely cottages, quiet country roads and stunning views.

In terms of cottage, surroundings and owners highly recommended!

Stayed in "The Old Stables" 7 days from August 12, 2017.

What a lovely surprise!

  • 5 of 5

The property had been converted and fitted out to a very high standard. It was very well maintained and spotlessly clean. The location was a real oasis of peace yet it was so near many interesting towns, special gardens, historic places to visit and an easy train journey into London. In contrast it was only a five minute stroll to the local pub and there were many good places to eat and drink within a short drive. We loved sitting and eating outside and having access to tubs of herbs and vegetables from the garden was an unexpected luxury. The owner was really welcoming, helpful and gave us hints and ideas to make our stay one that we will remember. Thank you so much.

Very stylish & comfortable stable conversion

  • 5 of 5

We only had 3 nights at this wonderful place- wish it could have been longer! Lovely quiet rural setting surrounded by fields- the stables have been done to a very high standard but have retained their original charm- they have their own private courtyard garden which we loved. Philippa is a charming host and gives lots of helpful ideas of where to go and what to do. The stables are in a prime location for exploring all Kent has to offer - and with easy access to London too. We will be back again!

A slice of paradise

  • 5 of 5

Having arrived somewhat tired and hassled after a long day, I was welcomed by a beaming Philippa and a blazing log fire which, on a wet and miserable May evening, set the tone for the rest of my two day stay. Everywhere was spotlessly clean and furnished to an incredibly high standard - contemporary but extremely comfortable in every respect. I slept soundly with the high count linen and the Ren products in the bathroom completely wrapped me in luxury. I don't normally eat breakfast but how could I ignore the fresh eggs from Philippa's chickens andbas for her fresh bread and home made jam? When did toast ever smell so good?? Philippa, thank you for all the thought you have giving to providing us, your guests, with everything we could possibly need for a wonderful stay. I can't wait to return!
