Cottage in Christchurch, Nr. Bournemouth, Dorset, England 10 minutes to sea and New Forest
About Alan Roberts
We bought this property in 2007 as our holiday home. We started letting it for holidays in 2008. I enjoy staying at Coral Cottage off season, now I am retired. This is helpful for our guests as by staying in the Cottage I become aware of anything that needs doing. We now have friends in the area who have moved down from London, which makes our visits more enjoyable.

Why Alan Roberts chose Burton
We like being close to the sea/beaches, the New Forest and Bournemouth. One of my hobbies is sailing (on friend's yachts), so this location is handy for Poole, Lymington, Hamble and Portsmouth. I also like cycling in the New Forest, and try not to use the car once I have arrived at Coral Cottage. This area is very popular with the fast road cyclists. At the weekend there a lots of groups of cyclists enjoying the area. My bike is a hybrid mountain bike, so I get overtaken a lot!
What makes this Cottage unique
There are a number of very nice Gastro Pubs nearby for eating out. Three within walking distance. Our favourite is the Woolpack in Sopely. Good value, great food, but you do need to book for Saturday nights. The place to eat is in the conservatory overlooking a floodlit stream. There is a pavement all the way if you prefer to walk. Take a torch though. There is a car park. Opposite, but far way enough not to be a problem is the Fisherman's Haunt. The food and beer is excellent. I provide an information pack giving the telephone numbers and post codes of the best places to eat.

Home from home
This holiday cottage is absolutely perfect. It is in a beautiful location and the cottage is so comfortable it is like being in your own home. Everything you need for a great holiday is provided and more. We have had the best weeks holiday we.have ever had in this country and were really quite sad to leave. On a plus point we WILL definitely return to this gorgeous cottage sooner rather than later😎😍👍
We have thoroughly enjoyed our time at Coral Cottage. The cottage is well appointed, newly decorated and comfortable. We have walked and cycled in the New Forest and along the coast so the location is excellent. There are plenty of places for lunch/ teas particularly the Cider Pantry in Burley and the Station Cafe. Recommend the Three Tuns in Bransgore and the Noisy Lobster in Mudeford for special occasions. The local shop in Burton Green is also nearby.
We hope to be back but maybe not for six weeks next time!
Beautiful Cottage... home from home .. perfect!
Beautiful cottage was a real home from home experience. Huge thank you to Alan for his quick responses to any questions we may have had and for the swift fixing of the boiler! Would highly recommend the Cottage for a holiday as perfectly located to reach the New Forest, Bournemouth and Christchurch.

Coast & Beach
10 minutes drive to Avon Beach at Mudeford and Christchurch Harbour. The Avon Beach is quiet, safe and has awards for cleanliness. There are several popular quality cafes on the promenade.
There are more beaches at Bournemouth along with other attractions at this major resort.
Hengistbury Head Nature Reserve is a must for a day out. Just 15 minutes drive from Coral Cottage. I usually cycle from Coral Cottage, and enjoy a tea and cake at the Beach Cafe. You can also catch the ferry from Mudeford Quay/Avon Beach to Hengisbury Head. In addition to a lovely walk up onto Hengistbury Head itself, there are two cafes, one at each end of the walk, an inexpensive car park, and a Land Train along the flat route to the end of the dunes. There you will see numerous Beach Huts which are sold by estate agents for about £100k!
Just five minutes drive from Coral Cottage you will be over the cattle grid and able to enjoy the country side of the New Forest. The pony's are very tame, great fun to watch and photograph.
At Burley in the New Forest there are bicycles for hire. There are numerous easy tracks to cycle along, including an old railway line route. There is a great cafe along the way built in an old station.
In Burley in the New Forest there is horse riding for all levels of experience. I ride occasionally. Best to book a few days in advance.
Lymington in the New Forest has a Saturday Market, several Marina's a Town Quay where visiting yachts are moored, and salt marshes with paths running through them which are great for bird watching.
Poole Harbour is a must for a day out. The town quay is a hive of activity. There are boat trips to Brownsea Island which has read squirrels and peacocks with attitude. This is a National Trust island, free to enter for members. The boat trip is extra, however it does include a tour round Poole Harbour, with a commentary.
Beaulieu is also a great day out. There is the National Car Museum, Bucklers Hard which is where wooden ships used to be built between two rows of houses leading down to the river. There is also a marina, and a great pub serving good food.
Isle of Wight.
Ferries run to the Isle of Wight from Lymington continuously during the day and evening.
The New Forest is just five minutes by car from Coral Cottage.
Christchurch Town, Quay and Priory are about ten minutes drive from Coral Cottage.
Bournemouth with its amazing beaches is about 15 minutes drive from Coral Cottage.
Poole Harbour where there is a huge range of activities is about 45 minutes away by car.
Hengisbury Head Nature Reserve is ten minutes drive from Coral Cottage.
Within ten minutes drive there are two Waitrose, Sainburys, M & S and a Tesco. It is ten minutes walk to the nearest shop, that sells nearly all you need.
There are three Gastropubs within walking distance. The Fishermans Haunt can be reached by crossing the road from Coral Cottage and walking through the pub garden. The main entrance is in another road, so we have easy access and no noise.
