Thank you for a lovely stay! We love this cottage and the garden. Really enjoyed the walk into Whitby and the bacon and egg butties from the butchers, thanks for the recommendations. It was a great surprise arriving to chilled fizz and chocolates. Thanks very much! We hope to come back!

Just perfect, absolutely lovely.

  • 5 of 5

We stay in lots of cottages and this is definitely our favourite. The location is great, with all the amenities you need with Whitby being a gentle stroll along the river. The cottage is well equipped and finished to a high standard. The extra touches left by the owners were really appreciated and made our stay extra special. We sat outside and had breakfast in the garden and struggled to leave the cottage to go out and explore. I could not recommend this cottage higher, we will be definitely be returning. PS the Butchers across the road is the best ever. Thanks for a perfect holiday.

Fabulous

  • 4 of 5

Wonderful cottage, superbly decorated with everything you could wish for. Beautiful gardens which we made full use of. Loved the personal touch of being left a bottle of prosecco and chocolates. Only downside was the parking, we really struggled to get a spot close enough to the cottage, otherwise our stay was perfect in every way

Charming cottage, but on a noisy road

  • 4 of 5

This is a really charming cottage with loads of character. It's been nicely refurbished with two good bathrooms and a lovely garden. Sadly, the village street is much busier than we'd imagined and it took us a couple of nights to get used to the noise of the traffic. Also, the kitchen is very compact and the lack of a washing machine was a slight nuisance. However, the butcher's shop over the road really does sell the best bacon and egg rolls imaginable and for a very good price, so no need to cook breakfast!

And the scenery is stunning. There is a lovely walk into Whitby very close by, between the river and the railway which the NYMR uses, so plenty of steam trains go through. Also, the Cinder Trail is another lovely walk with really amazing views.

Not our cup of tea!

  • 2 of 5

We were taken by surprise on arrival. Already knew of the parking issues. The decor of the place was stunning. I would have preferred clean mirrors etc.. we were charmed by the garden, it is quite beautiful. We had fabulous weather which was the bonus. Would have been claustrophobic in the cottage for the whole time.

We all four thought that the place was ill equipped for us. Not enough seating etc. Unfortunately I booked for two weeks.

The entire village seems to be a ‘rat run ‘ between the A171 and Whitby, tragic for the village. The traffic noise is horrendous especially on dustbin day, Thursday!

Mr Duck was very obliging and we bought in his shop when we could. The butcher, mr Jackson was amazing. We willl go to Ruswarp just for the meat.

The neighbours were amazing. We had an amazing night hearing about the village from village people.

We wouldn’t book the place again, not for more than a couple of days anyway! It’s too small for four adults. It’s dark inside and we would have been demented if bad weather had demanded we stay in.

No! We won’t be back.

Beautiful cottage in a lovely quiet village.

  • 4 of 5

The cottage is lovely and inviting and felt very homely. There is a really nice walk along the river into Whitby. We did this walk every day as my 6 year old boys thought it was an adventure. I would recommend this cottage to anyone. The village is nice and quiet and there is a boating lake and a little steam train.
