This is the largest and most charming apartment. Built in the former barn and restored in traditional Tuscan style with stone walls and red “cotto” floor tiles, it can comfortably accommodate up to six people.
The “Fienile” consists of a large living-room with a kitchen corner, two double bedrooms, one bedroom with two single beds, and two bathrooms.
The living-room and one of the double bedrooms have a wonderful view on our vineyards and the surrounding hills. The other large, beautiful double bedroom has an ensuite bathroom and a fireplace in it. From this bedroom, thanks to a huge glass wall, you can enjoy a beautiful view on the countryside. This room is connected to another bedroom with two single beds and an independent entrance.
Outside the apartment there is a large, bignonia pergola with table, chairs, and a wonderful panoramic view.
“Il Bacio” Farm holiday is located in the heart of Chianti, surrounded by beautiful Tuscan hills covered with vineyards and olive groves.
The ancient farmhouse, the former barn and the wood-house have been carefully restored and tastefully furnished, preserving the original structure together with the characteristics of old Tuscan houses.
Each apartment has its own independent entrance, a beautiful panoramic view of the countryside, and a private outdoor space in the shade of a grape pergola and equipped for outdoor lunches and candlelight dinners.
At our family-farm there is a swimming-pool (12x6 meters), surrounded by a large garden facing the valley, from where it is possible to enjoy an enchanting view of the surrounding hills. Here each apartment has its own umbrella with deckchairs and sunbeds. In our swimming-pool, the water is slightly salted with no added chlorine, and thus more delicate for skin and eyes, in addition to the environmental benefits.
At “Il Bacio” we produce certified organic Chianti wine, grappa, and extra virgin olive oil. Franco and Daniele will be glad to welcome you to our ancient cellar to walk you through the main steps of the wine-making process and taste our organic wines alongside local specialties.
In 1991, Franco and Sonia, together with their sons Andrea and Daniele, moved from the city to the country-side, to the farm Il Bacio. A few years later Giulia arrived, followed recently by grandson Pietro.
Since the beginning, they devoted themselves with passion and dedication to organic farming, producing wine and olive oil.
In 1997, following a long renovation of the farmhouse, the barn and the wood-house, the farm-holiday opened.
The family welcomes you to Il Bacio, together with our sweet dog Agata and our two donkeys, Nuccia and Violetta.
Sonia Macconi purchased this apartment in 1991
"Ill Bacio" was the perfect location for our week in Tuscany, the property is beautiful beyond words, the hosts Franco, Sonya and Daniele were warm and offered great recommendations and even a tour of the wine making process despite being in the middle of harvest. The beds were comfortable and the unit had the perfect amount of space for us to enjoy an outside dinner one evening. It was an easy bus ride into Florence, and easy access to all of the chianti region. I would and probably will stay here again. This was our last stop on our Italian vacation, the perfect r way to soak in the beauty of the Tuscan culture and to close out our adventures, in a warm, relaxing environment.
Franco and Sonia's farm property is beyond words. The pictures on the VRBO site don't do this beautiful piece of paradise justice. It's a little piece of heaven. Franco and Sonia are so helpful when we needed ANYTHING! The fresh bread delivered each morning was such a treat.
We just happen to be there during their first harvest of grapes on the farm and got to join in in the cutting of the grapes. It was the highlight of our trip. This family is so kind. I highly recommend this farm house to anyone.
Sonia and Franco and their lovely family are so welcoming. The tour and wine tasting of their organic vineyard was very informative and their wine is just fabulous. We stayed in Il Fienile which is a 3 bedroom separate house and was comfortable and clean with everything available for kitchen use including a dishwasher which was very useful. We managed to sit out every night (although it was a bit chilly in the evenings) but I would recommend taking some citronella candles with you as the bugs were really biting (time of year perhaps). If we were going back to Chianti again we would certainly consider returning to Il Bacio. Certainly the description listed was accurate and the customer service was second to none. Some groceries were purchased for us for our arrival (at our request and payment) and Franco brought us fresh bread every morning (apart from Sundays) which was still warm. They were happy to give us directions and information on the local area. The only "local" restaurant we ate in was La Fattoria in Romita which was 5 minutes drive away. Superb!
We stayed a week and regretted leaving. Apart from a beautiful setting and views all round, our hosts were warm and helpful and proved organic production makes for wonderful wine. It's halfway between Florence and Siena and lots of charming villages are close by for walks and sunset dinners. The family owners are fourth generation and take care that your stay is a delight. Highly recommended.
We just spent 3 amazing weeks at Il Bacio. The hosts, Sonia and Franco couldn't have been more wonderful! Franco delivered fresh, warm rolls to our apartment every morning- what a treat! He also provided us with a wine tasting of the delicious wine that they produce, and Sonia delighted us with fried squash blossoms for the tasting, yummy. Sonia was also incredibly helpful in suggesting local places for us to explore, and restaurants to go to. All of her suggestions were fabulous! The pool was delightfully refreshing contrary to my expectations. it remained comfortably cool to swim in even though the temperature remained in the high nineties the whole time we were there. I will suggest that if you are going to be exploring areas by car while you are there that you should get a Sim card for your cell phone so that you can use the GPS to get around. We got 3 gigabites of data and a bunch of minutes for calls for 20 dollars, which we never used up even though we traveled around quite a bit. A worthwhile purchase for sure.Trying to find your way around the small, rural roads can be so confusing without it. It saved us much time and frustration! I would stay here again in a heartbeat! Thank you again Sonia and Franco, you are the best!
Il Bacio was a wonderful place for relaxing and ease.of travel to many other places in Tuscany. The farmhouse/converted barn apartment setting was quite lovely, rustic in a good way, all of the conveniences, equipped well for cooking. The weather was very chilly while we were there, making it difficult to enjoy the beauty outside. The hostess Sonia was called away so we were welcomed by Franco with a bottle of their wine, quite good. We also were able to meet Sonia on the last day and tasted and purchased the Olive Oil . Highly recommed the oil.....very good.
Favorite little village, San Donato. My sister and I had a wonderful time there, with a little.shopkeeper, who charmed us into purchasing sweaters for the chilly weather.
I would recommend for those wanting the authentic farmhouse type accommodation, while being able to cook your own meals from local shops.
Thank you Sonia and Franco.
The family farm Il Bacio is located in the heart of Tuscany, nestled in gently sloping hills covered in vineyards and olive groves, typical of the Chianti region, a unique territory known for its landscapes, history, food and wine.
Il Bacio is the ideal base for exploring all of the main Tuscan cities of art. Florence, cradle of the Renaissance, is only 30 minutes away. Siena, medieval jewel, can be reached in less than 40 minutes. San Gimignano, with its medieval towers, is 30 minutes away. Pisa, with the wonderful Miracles Square and Leaning Tower, and Lucca, with its splendid walls, are within a one-hour drive. Pienza, Renaissance jewel, and Montalcino and Montepulciano, with their world-renowned wines, are a little more than one hour away. Finally, the picturesque Cinque Terre are around two hours by car.
The closest town is Tavarnelle Val di Pesa, which is 3 Km away and where there are numerous stores and various types of restaurants.
Surrounding our farm there are numerous charming medieval villages, such as Barberino Val d’Elsa and Greve in Chianti. Last, but not least, around us there are several foot and bike paths of remarkable panoramic and architectural interest.
