Birdsong, St Ives/ Carbis Bay, 5 bed house, games room and gardens.

Birdsong is an open plan, reverse level home. There is parking for 2 cars, 1 on the drive and 1 on the road. Through the front door is an entrance porch with cloakroom and coat hanging space. This opens onto an L shaped lounge with panoramic views of the coast. The kitchen is part of the lounge with bespoke units, Smeg appliance, dishwasher, coffee maker and all that you need for a perfect holiday.The lounge and kitchen face onto a huge balcony perfect for al fresco dining. Downstairs is another lounge kitted out as a games room. There are 4 double bedrooms, nursery, family bathroom and utility room leading off this lounge. The lower lounge leads to another patio and onto the garden. Two of the bedrooms have en-suites, (showers are large enough for disabled access) with shower, wc and basin, the bathroom has the addition of a bath. Utility room has washing machine, tumble drier, indoor and outdoor drying area. The garden is landscaped with open terracing with a greenhouse.

We are a married couple with 4 children. We purchased the cottage 26 years ago as a place to holiday with our children. My husband is an architect so we have slowly renovated the cottage. We have enjoyed many happy family holidays here are still visiting looking forward to our weeks in St Ives. We hope you will stay in the town and enjoy the sights, smells and sounds of this wonderful place.

Why melanie martin chose St Ives area

Birdsong was purchased over a 2year span. We thought it was in a WOW position and did all that we could to secure it, even though it was way out of budget. We wanted freehold, somewhere with potential, full of light and stunning views. We found it in Birdsong. It is close to beaches, the town, supermarket, and with a great garden. The boys love the sport and the girls love the terraces for sunbathing. We all love eating al fresco, even picking mussels off the rocks to eat and strawberries from the garden. We walk into St Ives to surf or drive a short distance to Godrey and then have to stop off at Becks for fish and chips on route home.

What makes this house unique

There are very few houses this size in St Ives, available all year, to let. There are even fewer with parking, and fewer still with seaviews from every room. A local electrician commented he had never been in a rental with so much to do!!!! Come and check it out for yourself!

Notes on accommodation: Birdsong was bought after we outgrew Admiral Cottage In St Ives. It has only had 3 owners, since it was built in 1963, all of which were reluctant to sell. We bought on position, we walked in and were blown away by the view. We have enjoyed many happy times in this relaxing house, there is something special about the space and quality of light and we would like you to share it. Click on our website in order to see the most amazing video of Birdsong and its We also have a twitter page which we often update with our own personal NO smoking is allowed in the house. Pets are allowed by prior arrangement and an extra cleaning fee is applicable. Outside: The garden is open and terraced with a greenhouse. This means that children must be supervised at all times. There are steps between the levels and the 2 balcony areas. Utility Room: We have 2 utility rooms, 1 is used for washing and has a sink, washing machine, tumble dryer and laundry equipment. The other is a garden room with equipment, sports gear, tools and toys: available to use with caution. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: The rental costs include all linen and utilities. Our housekeeper lives near by and is available for babysitting if needed. Other: The house is let throughout the year and has full gas central heating. It is suitable for anyone: romantic couples or large family groups, it is near a supermarket and parking is easy. The house sleeps a maximum of 8, 4 - 6 adults and 2- 4 children.

A wonderful family Easter week

we had a fabulous family week at Birdsong. The pool table was in regular use and the location and wider facilities were greatly enjoyed. More than lived up to our expectations thank you!

A great family holiday home

This was our second holiday at Birdsong. We had a very good week’s holiday in May 2015 with our son daughter, her husband and two young grandchildren.

The property was exactly as described and booking, payment, etc was straightforward. We found the house clean and well maintained.

The layout of the house is excellent for a large group with all of the facilities you need for cooking, etc and the views are superb. Everyone enjoyed the pool, table tennis and table football.

We love the location of the house with close proximity to St Ives, the restaurants, bars and the beaches.

Negatives are few but most of us all felt that the bed mattresses and pillows were in need of replacement as they did not give very good support.

Fortunately the weather was kind and we were able to go to the Porthminster beach most days. I can recommend the bacon baps from the cafe on the beach.

We decided to go out to one of the better restaurants for dinner but didn’t reserve a table as it was early in the season. All of the restaurants were fully booked so we ate at the Curry Garden where we had an excellent but not cheap meal. In future I would definitely reserve a table in advance whatever time of the year.

I would certainly recommend Birdsong.

Birdsong, St Ives

My girlfriend and I stayed at Birdsong for a long weekend break. We left London looking for some rest and relaxation. Birdsong was perfect. It is a large detached house with breathtaking views. Even though it was February we lay in the Cornish sunshine drinking coffee, ate at the multitude of fantastic restaurants in St. Ives and went for long hikes over beaches and around headlands. On Sunday morning we woke up to a stunning sunrise that we could watch without even needing to get out of bed. It was the perfect mini break, I could never get bored of that view. Will bring our friends and family with us next time. Thank you for letting us share your family home.

Good Find

I have stayed in lots of houses in the St Ives area and this is really a truly delightful find.

The house was beautifully made up when we arrived, there were little extras like tea and biscuits ready (always useful after a long drive). It has off street parking which is again an unusual and welcome thing in St Ives.

the house is breathtaking. You wake up every morning surrounded by these huge pine trees with a view down to the sea. It doesn't get any better.

The short walks down to the beaches are lovely and there are amenities really close. The owner was easy to deal with and I would recommend this house. I think it is probably ideal for larger families although as a couple it would still be nice, you would just have lots of space.

Wonderful Views

First visit to cornwall in a long time! The views at Birdsong are lovely even in the winter time. We really enjoyed our week and went on many long walks. The house itself is modern, clean and had everything we needed. This is a lovely house and I would highly recommend it to anyone with a larger family who needs the space!!

I really can't say enough about this property, the photographs really don't do it justice. The location is great, about a 5 minute drive from the centre of St Ives. When you arrive at the property you are astounded at the view, it really is beautiful. My husband and I stayed for a week with our two golden retrievers and we spent many lazy hours on the balcony and in the garden enjoying the view with a glass of wine.

The internet TV in the lounge is great with the fantastic surround sound system, perfect for lazy days and nights in.

Although we didn’t use most of the stuff the house is well equipped with a pool table and plenty of games etc for kids. We did make use of the well equipped utility room to get our washing and drying done before we moved onto the next part of our holiday.

The bedrooms are beautiful with the two main bedrooms having en-suites, large walk in wardrobes, TV’s as well as gorgeous views, very relaxing.

The well equipped kitchen was perfect for rustling up a meal, or if you fancied something a bit different, the Chippy down the road does fab fish and chips and we highly recommend the Rum and Crab shack in town for great cocktails and seafood and the Loft for good food and wine. Both welcomed our dogs which was a godsend.

The house is right by a large tesco making it ideal to get your supplies and only a few minutes walk from the bus stop taking you into town if you didn't fancy the battle with parking in St Ives.

The communication from Melanie was great, very easy to book and obtain the return on our deposit.

We plan to come back next summer with some friends.

Birdsong is a super base to stay in if you want to explore Cornwall. St Ives has its own festival in September, a huge street party at New Year, a fish festival in Newlyn in August and many more events through out the year.

We provide lots of sports equipment so there is no excuse to not get fit or improve your snooker whilst staying with us.

The coastal path is our garden boundary and you can follwo the path to numerous wonderful beaches.


Birdsong is a short walk (10 minutes) to Carbis Bay beach in one direction and Porthminster Beach St Ives in the other. If you love to surf, it is a short drive to Godrey and the Towans, which face Birdsong across the bay.


Birdsong is a 15 minute walk from Carbis Bay train station or St Ives. The train line from both London and the South west are frequent. Newquay Airport is a 30 minute drive away. For drivers follow the A30 throughout Cornwall To Hayle and St Ives, we are off the main road into St Ives.


We are a 10 minute walk into St Ives with its stunning beaches, restaurants, cafes, art galleries and shops. We recommend you walk everywhere, there are also very good local buses to get you up any hills!

We are close to a large supermarket, or you can shop online, or travel to Hayle and use the 3 major supermarkets the town has. Self catering gives you the flexibility to spend on what you choose.
