Manor House near Entraygues Overlooking River Lot, Cantal- Aveyron, Midi Pyrenees - Beautifully Restored Historic Manor House, Pool, Gardens, Wildlife, Walking
Set in a tranquil rural location, in the mid reaches of the Lot valley, on the boarders of Aveyron & Cantal this historic manor house sits above the meandering waters of the beautiful river lot with panoramic views across the wooded valley.
The house is situated above the hamlet of Le port, 5 minutes drive from the village of Vieillevie 5 miles west of the medieval village of Entraygues in the Aveyron department. This area is the most beautiful stretch of the lot valley.
Unspoiled by tourism, the region offers the mountains, gorges and valleys of the southern tip of the Cantal and Aveyron departments we have miles of designated footpaths abundant with flowers and wildlife, historic medieval villages such as Conques and Estaing; fine chateaux and the attractive towns of Rodez and Aurillac.
The immediate area is a recognized center for walking and canoeing. Some walks lead direct from the house and Le port has its own canoe school . In summer fetes and spectacles are arranged locally.

About malcolm lucas
We are a husband & wife team running the business and living in the West wing of Blanadet and from time to time get help from our family. Skipping though the years we have been in the holiday leisure industry since the early 70s, first in South Wales with holiday cottages letting, due to family reasons we relocated on the Thames with a small marina and a hire boat operation, early 90s we started a Beach Restaurant on the east coast, late 90s moved to France for a calmer life, began restoring holiday property for English owner and realized it would be a good time in our lives to run a B&B but now prefer to host self catering.
malcolm lucas purchased this Chateau / Country House in 1998
Why malcolm lucas chose Sénergues
We purchased Blanadet Manior in the mid reaches of the Lot Valley about 15 year ago and started the renovation work. It has been a long road to get the property back to its original state, we have updated to modern standards and retained the original fabric and features. We enjoy living in the west wing of this huge house, the new self catering unit is our currant project, still get time to relax round our swimming pool and garden. Vivian is a keen gardener and raises most of the plants from seeds and cuttings in the green house, while Malcolm is kept busy with grounds & building maintenance. We both have an interest in cooking and spend many hour preparing meals for our guest's. Having lived in France for 18 year as you would expect we know most of the restaurants & places of interest.

The accomodation was great lots of space and idea
The property was as good as the last time we had stayed. Malcom and Viv made us very welcome and were very helpful without being intrusive. Turning up with an extra person to our party and a travel sick child they were great, even finding a teddy replacement while they washed the much loved toy while we settled into our accommodation. We had a lovely week making full use of the pool and the beautiful area around. Thank you once again.
Thanks to all the Woods hope we see you again this coming season.

A Month in the Manor...
We were lucky enough to spend 4 weeks in this perfectly tucked away medieval property. Not for the faint hearted, height wise, as you arrive on a single track road with a steep incline. Worth the worrying first drive up the 'hill' though, because the views are fabulous looking down over the river Lot. You really are in rural France at its best.
Malcolm and Viv were wonderful hosts, helping out in any way they could but managing to keep a discreet distance when appropriate. The pool is shared and Malcolm maintains it daily. There were plenty of loungers and seating areas with table and chairs. The tiered garden/grounds are a delight and with footpaths from the door the area is great for walking.
The entrance to the East Wing is behind their main entrance but it didn't concern us that we were in close proximity. The layout is extremely medieval with the huge, elegant bedrooms all entered via an outside covered balcony, which overlooked a delightful courtyard for our private use. The open plan kitchen living area was spotlessly clean, comfortable and nicely furnished. If I have any gripes to make then it was the lack of kitchen equipment for cooking but I managed to improvise...
We found some excellent restaurants: Le Belvedere (*) in Bazouls, Bras (***) in Laguiole. Locally, Hotel de La Terrace in Villevie and Quai West in Entraygues. There are so many small towns and villages in the area that are beautiful, it is hard to choose favourites. If you like medieval, rural France, plus incredible views everywhere you go, you won't be disappointed.
We loved our time here and would happily return.
Hi Jane & Rob
Many thank for taking the time to reviws your stay a Blanadet, we were realy pleased to have had you around for your holiday this year and hope to see you both soon.
Vivian & Malcolm.
A stunning place to stay, a charming house and a breath taking setting. We come every year with our children and always have a relaxing stay. Plenty of places to visit, some lovely restaurants and a very nice peaceful pool to relax around. The added bonus of mod cons with tv, wifi, washing machine and a bbq. The gardens are beautiful as are all of the rooms. We will continue to have our family holiday here, with a warm welcome from Malcom and Viv. Thank you for making us so welcome each year
A great place to stay for all the family.
The location was beautiful and very peaceful. The property was stunning, and lovely and cool even when the outside temperatures hit 38 degrees. The shower rooms which are not pictured are very modern and made our stay with a family of four girls a real luxury. The owners have put a lot of effort into making sure that your stay here is very comfortable and are on hand to help. We made good use of the pool which was very well maintained and had the beautiful back drop of the River Lot. This area has lots to offer all ages and our girls who range from 3 to 12 were equally impressed and entertained. From canoeing along the Lot, visiting Conques, sampling the various local produce at the farmers markets or just walking down to the donkeys we had a lovely holiday and will come again. Thank you Malcolm and Viv.
Many thanks for taking the time to rewiew Your stay at Blanadet, your thoughts will be very usefull to future visitors.
We do hope we will see back soon.
A lovely week's break with above the Lot.
We spent a week at Blanadet and really enjoyed it. The house is great and the garden is really pretty too. I particularly liked the pool-side bar-b-que and kitchen.
Thanks to Malcom and Vivienne for a great holiday.
Will, Laura, Laurence and Eliza.
Many thanks for your review, might see you around in Guildford Christmass time.

Special interest holidays: 100 meters below Blanadet is one of the largest kayak and canoe hire centres in the region. The river here is about 6m wide and has a strong enough stream and there are plenty of opportunities to sit back and float along in the sun. If you're lucky you might even spot a kingfisher or an otter. Kayaks and all necessary equipment are available to hire for a day, half a day. Guides are available if you are apprehensive about setting off alone and there are lessons for beginners if you'd rather not go on a whole trip. The medieval town of Conques is close by & has been a focal point for pilgrims on their way to Santiago, on the Camino de Cantiago, since the 12th century. The town itself is well worth a visit, with its cathedral and twisting cobbled streets. In the fishing season there are plenty of beautiful spots to setup fishing in our section of the river lot. We have horse riding school within 20mins you will find plenty of places and activity's to more than fill you time at Blanadet Travel: Ryanair fly to Rodez airport from Stansted and it is about 1hour drive to Blanadet, Bezier is another Ryanair option approx 2hour 30min drive, driving from channel ports is about 10 hours drive, most of our visitors travel this way. Distances: We are midway between Entraygues & Vieillevie 5 miles, Rodez is about 30 mile and the same to Aurillac. It is about 2hour 30min drive to the Mediterranean coast.
