Positioned half way between Pisa (airport 25 minutes) and Florence (40 minutes) , Borgo di Libbiano is ideally placed for exploring most of the historic sites of Tuscany. The fascinating medieval cities of Florence, Siena and Lucca can all be reached in less than an hour. Volterra, San Gimignano are reached in 30 min. The beautiful Tuscan beaches, Tirennia, Castiglioncello, Cecina are a 40 minute drive away. Libbiano is also a golfers paradise; 4km away is Castelfalfi the premier golf resort in Italy with 18 hole and 9 hole courses. The apartments are within a dedicated national park area where you will see deer and wild boar in the mornings. All four apartments have their own outdoor space and are fully furnished in a contemporary Italian style. The infinity pool and the terraces around it enjoy a superb view of typically Tuscan countryside. The apartments themselves have recently been restored to a very high standard.
Steven and Sheila Wastell have lived in Italy but now spend most of their time back in the UK having
completed a number of restoration projects in Tuscany. The complex is looked after by Benadetta who speaks excellent English, Italian and German, and her husband Carmelo. They live on site and will ensure that you are greeted on your arrival and deal with any questions you may have during your stay. A welcome pack of some essential groceries will be placed in your apartment prior to your arrival, and Benadetta is also happy to provide breakfasts or evening meals on request.
I came here with my partner and we had a fantastic time! The apartments are at the top of a hill so you get a great view whilst your sipping wine on the deckchairs. There are lots of lovely little villages nearby to explore and we did day trips to San Gimignano, Volterra, Pisa and Florence as well as a few days relaxing by the pool.
We will be coming again next year!
We have just returned from an absolutely fabulous two weeks in Libbiano, Tuscany. We stayed in the Cellini which was immaculate. It was perfectly sized for the four of us (2 adults and 2 children) as it had two bedrooms and two bathrooms plus a large open plan living/dining/kitchen and a (useful) laundry room. It also had its own private patio garden for dining, plus use of the shared 'aia. It was well equipped, with possibly the biggest TV I've ever seen, (although we were out looking at the awesome views and didn't watch it).
Carl and Naomi who manage the apartments were friendly and welcoming, giving lots of good advice on places to go and practical things. They were always there to be helpful and fun, but in a good friendly way and never too much!
You need a car to stay in this area as it is not walkable to shops, but this was not a problem for us as we wanted to be out and about seeing all that Tuscany has to offer. Libbiano is situated within an hour of many of the major attractions and we enjoyed days at the beach, in the city and just chilling by the pool.
Highlights were the amazing views from the pool and garden, seeing inside the old church, the great people we met and the bread man coming in the morning! Our kids (aged 7+9) would say the pool!
I can't recommend Borgo Libbiano enough.
Libbiano is in a perfect spot up a cypress tree lined drive, a quiet village with a group of apartments clustered round a beautiful local church and square with a small commune of local people too. Sheila and Steve,s apartments are beautiful, restored with the best of original materials and are situated around the most fantastic swimming pool
