Beautiful, spacious, old villa full of charm and character

  • 5 of 5

Absolutely loved this place, all 16 of us had the best time ever. The location was perfect, 10 minute drive to nearest village with plenty of shops and a large supermarket and the Sunday market was fantastic.

There is also a vinyard on the doorstep selling lovely wines.

So much to explore nearby, Chatau de Boux a must!!! And only 40 minutes away.

The villa itself was perfect, plenty of space, and enough seating for everyone to sit around the tables. Dining on the terrace every evening was fantastic even though the ants were a nuisance.

The rooms were cool even without air con and most had a fan, the temperature outside was in the 90's!

The beds were very comfy and bathrooms lovely and modern, toilet paper provided throughout our stay.

The kitchen was well equipped although some of the cupboards could have done with a sort out and there were lots of cobwebs around the place. (This all added to the French experience for us, after all the Olive oil mill is dated back to 1700's)

The large swimming pool was cleaned every day and there were plenty of sun beds and loungers for everyone. There was plenty of shaded areas too.

The housekeeper Houria was lovely and very helpful and sad to see us leave.

Overall we would highly recommend this lovely place. We didn't want to leave and hope we can return one day.

Very enjoyable family holiday spent at Le Moulin

  • 4 of 5

This is a well situated villa which is convenient for local shops and Marseille airport ( 40 minutes). There was ample parking space for cars and spacious private accommodation for our large family group. It has the benefit of a large swimming pool with a shallow end for young children and enclosed gates for security.

The Moulin - Perfect Provence get away

  • 5 of 5

What an idyllic spot The Moulin is.... lavender fields, crickets, 5 star comfort but at the same time - relaxed - just what we were looking for. Fantastic fun in the pool, dancing on the terrace and some lovely court yard evening meals.

This place is really special, and house keeper Houria is worth a mention as she is so pleasant and so friendly.

We were truly sad to leave! If the out house were to ever become an extra bedroom (as it looks to be?) then we can house the loud snorers in the family there next year!

So much to see in the area, fantastic markets, Avignon and Apt were great day trips. Have returned to the UK laden with olive oil and divine Marseille soaps.

Roll on summer next year....

Special interest holidays:

Food lovers can take a day with our very friendly and talented local chef from Aix en provence, Ronald, who will bring you to local markets, have cookery classes at the house or just come to the moulin and prepare a special meal for you with great wine!

The region is also renowned for its' beautiful perched villages in the Alpilles and Luberon, its' bird life in the Luberon and Camargue. You can hike for miles along the Voie Aurelienne, the ancient Roman road.

During the summer season, musical festivals, opera and piano concerts regularly take place in Aix en Provence, Avignon, ...

It takes less than an hour to reach the beaches of the Cote Bleue, south of Martigues.

The moulin is 25 minutes from Marseille Marignanne international airport, 20 minutes from international TGV railway station of Aix en Provence, 2 hours from Nice airport.

The nearest village Pelissanne - 4 kms away- has a choice of restaurants, boulangeries, small shops and all amenities.
