We had a lovely stay in Positano. Communications with Giovanni were great. Upon our request he arranged transfer assistance between Naples and Positano. Giovanni met us at the drop off point and guided us up those many steps to welcome us into the property. The apartment is very spacious, functional and comfortable. The view is stunning and worth every 200+ step. We recommend staying here.
Enchanting Views by Day and Night
Our two couple party enjoyed the views and comfort of the property and in particular the terraces. The furniture and fixtures are about what you would expect of a three to three and a half star hotel in the USA.
There is plenty of space for two couples except in the kitchen where two people can fit. Everything was clean and well maintained (except as noted below) and the pots, pans and utensils were adequate for our needs. You will need to bring your own spices and condiments. The air conditioning provided a welcome relief after climbing the 200 plus steps up the stairs. A testament to the locals fitness was that they clambered up and down the stairs many times per day without any perceivable stress-even the smokers!
There are many great dining options and several grocers with prepared meals to select from within a five to ten minute walk. The town and the many shopkeepers, bakers and restauranteurs invariably made us feel welcome. We took advantage of the great ferry service to visit Salerno, Amalfi, Capri and Sorrento.
Giovanni was always available via phone with recommendations or provide assistance. The property is as described except the garden area was not accessible. The refrigerator was not functioning during our visit and the half sized replacement was barely adequate for our needs. We did not use the porters upon arrival to carry our luggage, but by the time we toiled up the stairs with it we were a bit tired out and wished we had. Other wise, when traipsing up the stairs unencumbered was not much of a problem. The local parking is a couple of minutes from the bottom of the stairs to the unit.
Hello James, thank you for the review. I am sorry becouse the check-in was made by my wife, she forgot to show you the garden. I am sorry for the misunderstanding, a part of the garden is reserved only for this house, on it there are the grill and the hammock, it is close the main terrace. There is a small keyless gate to access. It also divide the different part of the villa and prevent guests upstairs from passing through. The privacy is one of the value in this house. And in Positano it is difficult to have.
Charlotte family first time in Italy
We made our first stop in Italy the first of October at Giovanni’s apartment in Positano. The process of reservation and payment was quite easy with Giovanni. He was quick to respond and offered good suggestions. The apartment is very large and worked well for our family of four with two adult daughters. It is nice to have 2 bathrooms. I have read in other posts that some frown on the number of steps to get to the unit. My response would be that the view is incredible, it is very quiet and no matter where you go in town you are climbing. Consider it an efficient means of expending the calories you ate at the many wonderful restaurants. I hope we are lucky enough to return someday. Thanks again Giovanni.
We had a spectacular time at Villa Boscariello. Giovanni is wonderful to work with. He is friendly and helpful. We stayed for 16 nights, and savored every one of them. The villa has everything you need and more. The kitchen is well equipped. The interior of the villa is decorated beautifully. The outdoor living areas are almost impossible to leave. We must have taken hundreds of photos of the views. We brought compact binoculars with us, and were glad we did. We bought most of our groceries at Delicatessen and the Wine Shop. Emilia at Delicatessen speaks English and is delightful. Lots of fresh produce at both shops, and plenty of other grocery items. We brought backpacks and two of those nylon shopping bags that roll into balls. We carried our own groceries up the 207 steps, but some grocery stores will deliver. For breakfast and lunch, we loved Casa e Bottega. The food is excellent and it is just a beautiful restaurant. Renting beach chairs/umbrellas at Fornillo beach was a blast even with the 400+ steps it took to get there. If you want to watch someone climb the steps to the villa, search on YouTube for Villa Boscariello. We watched the video before we came...it helps to let you know what to expect.
Amazing hideaway tucked high in the hillside. Lots of steps, but the view!!
Lovely apartment, very comfortable (with good AC and really nice showers, tub, very functional kitchen w/luxury of a dishwasher and clothes washer), terrific terraces for the view (in cooler weather lovely for al fresco meals and sun bathing). Giovanni is endearingly sweet and hospitable! Mattresses are very firm, and the extra toilet and shower rooms are terrific for larger parties staying there. I will always the Amalfi coast and this lovely hideaway!! Be prepared to carry what you like to drink and cook when you return for the day, you will not want to make a quick trip down for a little something!
Stunning view over Positano
Giovanni’s property was beautiful! It is an older villa with so much charm set high above the city. The 200 steps are not for everyone and even we with three older boys and being relatively fit found it a challenge after the walk up from town. The rooms are large with two lovely patios overlooking the water and town. The view was magnificent. There are several good local restaurants. Our favorite was Lo guarracino recommended by Giovanni. We also liked a local one closer to the villa called Saracena D’oro. One grocery store (up the hill from a hotel Posa Posa) will deliver basic supplies which was perfect. We had a few minor issues which Giovanni attended to quickly. He was reachable with questions throughout our visit. A wonderful stay!
