About the property

Cottage in Diss, South Norfolk, England - Peaceful location on outskirts of market town of Diss

Rookery Nook is a spacious light and airey south facing single storey property attached to the owner's home. It is ideally located for those who wish to explore East Anglia. Providing private entrance, lounge/dining room with patio doors onto patio & garden, fully equipped kitchen, double bedroom (king size bed or twin beds) and loo/shower room, driveway parking, garden with built in BBQ.

Situated on the edge of the pretty market town of Diss. Many towns claim to be 'historic market towns', but there has been a market in the centre of Diss, for well over 500 years. The town was established around one of the deepest natural inland lakes in the country, known as Diss Mere and is 6 acres in size. The town centre comprises some excellent examples of Georgian and Edwardian buildings, the Mere and a number of thriving shopping streets, historic and quaint shopping yards. The Market operates every Friday on the same day as the auctions of T.W.Gaze (as seen on several BBC antiques TV shows).

Haven of Peace and Tranquility

  • 5 of 5

Returned to rookery Nook and we were both delighted that we did. Although it may seem that the property is small it is designed in such a way that the patio and garden become an extra room. It is so lovely to be able to sit out on the patio and even if it should rain the canopy enables you to still be able to do so. The woodburner is a real bonus that enables you can enjoy a cosy evening indoors if the weather is not so kind. If you want to walk down to Diss it only takes 10-15mins to do so. Location is really good as a base and there are loads of interesting places to travel to nearby. Bed is very comfy, wifi works extremely well. We hope to be able to return again soon. 🍷? 🍺?

The perfect holiday home

  • 5 of 5

Rookery Nook was everything I hoped it would be and more - the perfect place to relax and unwind, and whilst a gentle stroll to Diss, also perfectly placed to visit great places in Norfolk and Suffolk. I thoroughly enjoyed my trip to Framlingham Castle, and Southwold. There is absolutely everything you might need in the cottage, the bed is really comfortable and the garden is a delight, with a covered patio area where you can sit and enjoy your meals and listen to the birdsong. There is convenient off-road parking, which is a real bonus and the owners are lovely - so helpful and friendly, yet not intrusive. I really hope to stay again, and can recommend Rookery Nook without hesitation. I stayed for a week at the beginning of October, the weather was lovely, and I would have stayed longer at the drop of a hat had not commitments dragged me back home!

Owner's Response: It was a pleasure to meet you and welcome you back to your old stomping grounds! Thank you so much for the gift, quite unnecessary but most welcome - I'll find a special place for it in the garden. Thanks also for the five star review and for all your kind comments - delighted you had such a wonderful time and recharged your batteries. Looking forward to seeing you again. All the best. Rookery Nook

  • 5 of 5

This was our second visit to Rookery Nook. We find it to be a very comfortable, well equipped and clean cottage with its own pleasant garden and parking space. The charming town of Diss with its old market place, mere and park, are an agreeable stroll away. We would certainly recommend it to anyone wishing to explore this beautiful area.

A warm and welcoming Home from Home

  • 5 of 5

We were impressed with the open space and general smartness of the main room and bedroom. We also liked the privacy allowing access to the garden via the French Window. The utilities worked efficiently and simply, all instructions were easily to hand and to understand. The bed was very comfortable the shower better than average and the all round cleanliness could not be bettered. We shall return and would recommend the place to friends. Southwold is very well worth a visit and a linger, the Swan is excellent as a hotel and food provider.
