Newly refurbished to the highest standards since we bought the property in Jan 2012. Two very comfortable, spacious, well-equipped and completely separate holiday apartments in quiet seaside location with great beaches and wonderful views of the sea and mountains . "The Snug" is located off the Main Street in Dunkineely, beside shop and 4 nice pubs ( some with entertainment) and is just 10 minutes drive to Donegal town. The location is ideal for exploring Donegal - whatever you fancy. Choices include great walking routes, several sandy beaches, several golf courses, water sports, fishing, island trips, music & dance. You could plan day trips from here to the Cliffs at Sliabh League, Glenveagh National Park, Bundoran Water World, The Giants Causeway. For those who like to cook for themselves the kitchen has everything you would need, or if you prefer to dine out there are many good restaurants to choose from. The place is ideal for pets, with wooden floors / tiles and a huge enclosed garden.
This beautiful apartment is finished to the highest standards with everything you could need for an enjoyable stay. Access is from the back of the house beside a gorgeous patio with wonderful sea views and large enclosed walled garden. Lovely bright spacious living room cum Kitchen has everything you could need (ideal for pets).
Large luxury en-suite Bedroom complete with KS bed (and travel cot).
Bright living room has very comfortable leather furniture and solid fuel stove - this also heats the water and radiators and offers a very cosy accommodation for all weathers (storage heaters also).
The kitchen is well equipped, with everything to the highest standards and an every growing collection of Willow Patterned Crockery for your comfort.
Wonderful views from kitchen, bedroom and patio area to St John's Point with Benbulben in Sligo in the distance!

We are a family of 4, living on a working farm in Sligo.
We have been happily involved in the Self Catering business since 2006 with our very popular Beach House in Aughris. In 2012 we bought and renovated another property The Snug in Dunkineely, South Donegal, for our own use and also as a Holiday Let.
Both properties are in wonderful locations on the Wild Atlantic Way.
Sheila McDermott purchased this apartment in 2011
We bought this property in November 2011 because we love the area and believe that Dunkineely is a wonderful scenic location with so many options on the doorstep.
We were particularly keen on the property after being lucky enough to get a window seat when we had lunch in nearby Castle Murray on the first day we went to view it. We chanced on the place whilst driving around and couldn't believe our luck. Between the view across McSwynes Bay and the wonderful food we were smitten!
One particular treat for us is being able to walk to a choice of 4 decent pubs, some with regular entertainment. There is a great atmosphere in the pubs in the village and everybody is just so friendly. As one of our guests reported last year, "they get to know you first!"
The house is in a super location, it feels quiet and secluded yet is just tucked in snugly off the main street.
We have done a big renovation on the house, with two completely separate units ( upstairs or downstairs), each equally comfortable.
We have a little Yorkshire Terrier and he loves our outings to The Snug because we can close the gate and let him roam freely in the garden.
We discovered the snug last year and spent 5 fabulous days discovering Donegal and the surrounding area. This year we decided to extend our stay to 10 nights as we loved it so much. The snug has everything you need to have a relaxing break -situated only 10 minutes from killybegs and 15 minutes from Donegal town.
It's the perfect getaway with a beautiful enclosed garden, with amazing views , which our dog loved, a walled patio area, ideal for an early morning cup of tea while you take in the peace and tranquility that surrounds you. That's providing you can actually drag yourself out of the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in!
Dunkineely's residents will offer you a very warm welcome to the village and Macs bar, situated just a few doors away, offers great hospitality and craic every evening and the traditional night in Macintyres each Wednesday is not to be missed.
If cooking on holiday is not your thing - no problem, Baskins are open 6 nights a week and the food is fab.
We're already planning our return trip to the snug next year - this time for a full 2 weeks!
Sheila was very accommodating when we had to change our booking. The apartment is perfect for visiting NW Ireland as it has several beautiful locations nearby: St John's Point and Fintra beaches are both stunning. The enclosed garden was very useful for our dog and had fantastic views. Inside, the apartment is simply furnished, but very comfortable (the bed in particular). Tea bags and milk were provided, which were much appreciated. Dunkineely also has shops, a restaurant and at least 3 pubs, so you can experience Irish hospitality without getting in to your car. Overall, a lovely break. Thanks, Sheila.
Fabulous apt . Great base for exploring Donegal. Our dog really loved the big big garden. Will be going back .
Great property, conveniently located to all local amenities. The Snug had everything we needed and more. Having previously stayed in the owners other property in Aughris we knew we were in safe hands. Both properties are a home from home and all the better for allowing dogs. Sheila is always at the end of the phone if you have any questions and there is plenty of useful information on file in the property. We would highly recommend a visit to either location.
The apartment had everything we needed but we would not be honest if we did not mention the need for a thorough cleaning. There is a strong smell of dog, must and mold. It would be a fine value if the cleaning issue gets resolved.

It is advisable to read some reviews from previous guests to get a better feel for the place....
This is an ideal location of people who perhaps want a quiet, scenic, coastal location with a good range of activities. There are great shoreline or hill walks nearby. For those than want to dine in, the kitchen is very well equipped. You could always go down the street to the pub afterwards for a nightcap!
if you enjoy dining out during your holidays there are many many options, just 4 that we would highly recommend ( as we visit them regularly ourselves) are Castle Murray at St Johns Point, Mary Murrins in nearby Bruckless, The Village Tavern in Mountcharles and the lovely Olde Castle Inn in Donegal Town.
The Snug is equally suited for those wanting a base to discover Donegal or for those who want to chill out during their stay and stay local.
