About MICHEL STRIEKWOLD
My name is Michel Striekwold. Originally from Holland, I moved to mexico to live and work over here in 2006. In 2008 I started my own villa rental company in Puerto Vallarta. In 2009 I visited Punta el Custodio for the first time, me and my little family were invited to spend the weekend with one of the owners. From the moment we entered the gate we knew we were in a very special place.. We have spent more than 40 weekends or more since then in all the 14 houses at Punta el Custodio, and every time again we feel we are in paradise. Since 2012 I focus only on 8 villa rentals at Punta el Custodio, Casa Paraiso is 1 of them.
MICHEL STRIEKWOLD purchased this Villa in 1998
Why MICHEL STRIEKWOLD chose Zacualpan
Casa Paraiso has a very, very relaxing atmosphere, very unique.
What makes this Villa unique
Punta el Custodio is truly a magical place. The house itself is magnificent, although quite simple. You will feel more than home immediately. Our community pool, under a 400 year old chalata or fig tree, is very impressive with its views over the Pacific. Then there is the estuary, the river mouth of the estuary, right down the stairs of Punta el Custodio at the south side. Here you can cross to 12 mile long undeveloped beach Playa Tortugas. From the house it won't take you more than 10 minutes to get here.

This place is amazing! The villa is outstanding with an incredible view. Our family of 4 (with a 12 and 15 year old) had a wonderful few days at Casa Paradiso. We body surfed everyday. Lupita prepared absolutely fabulous meals everyday. Best, most relaxing trip ever! We will return! This is a special place.
Good to hear you had such a good time! We are always happy when children/teenagers enjoy the place too. We think it's a paradise for young and old, but life is different at our community, as if you are away from it all. We do think children should experience this, nice that they appreciated it!
In hind site if I knew property was a 3 hour car ride from airport and 15km from closest town I likely would have never booked property. That would have been our loss as the setting is spectacular. House is basic but the views and open air living get you past the picky things. Lydia our cook was awesome, my wife is cyliac and she nailed the food. Do the food plan you will not be disappointed!
Sleep to sound of the waves, wake up to freshly squeezed orange juice, walk 17km of beach, lost track of whale count, humming birds....
Grounds are painstakingly cared for, pools are spotless, safety never a concern, how could you go wrong.
If you are looking to be wowed by scenery, attentive staff and as little to do as you want, this is the place.
Fantastic fantastic fantastic!
Our stay at Casa Iguana was so amazing! The house is beautifully built, and has a great atmosphere, almost 'Zen'. It was the most relaxing place I've ever been, with the most beautiful nature I have seen! Sonia, our private maid/cook, was wonderful, she made us feel like we were royalty! Punta el Custodio is a piece of heaven on earth, don't tell anybody, I want to come back next year!
A special place!
Our family of four (11 and 13 year old kids) loved our stay at Casa Iguana. The house is artistically designed and integrated with the natural surroundings in an incredibly beautiful setting. Everyone we interacted with, from booking with Michel to the daily cook Lydia, was fantastic. The walk to the pool and beach were easy and relaxing in such a safe, beautiful environment. (Don't miss the turtle reserve on the beach below!) We loved that every house was different and yet lovely in its own way. The only drawback for us was the many bug bites we got even while using bug spray etc. Iguana doesn't have windows and doors that close up completely - it's designed for indoor outdoor living. Although this is a wonderful concept for a tropical vacation, it was not ideal for us. We are perhaps more prone to bites than others and it is hopefully an anomaly but I thought I should mention it. In our case it was the price you pay for such a unique, authentic set up like this one. Overall we would highly recommend any of the homes at Punta Custudio!
Thank you for your kind words! I know you had a hard time because of bug bites. Only very few times we've had guests who couldn't stand them anymore, unfortunately you (your family) were one of them. The guests that stayed after you were not bothered by bugs at all. Still, I know you were not exaggerating, some people seem to be extra sensitive for bug bites. I do hope we will see you back in the future, in another house at our community, where you will have a bit more protection. Thanks for staying at Casa Iguana!
We felt really fortunate to have found this gem! The location on a cliff overlooking crashing waves is amazing. And to the south you have an almost deserted white sandy beach with near perfect surf!
The food plan was great but make sure to walk to Plantanitos at least once to enjoy the freshly grilled fish Serrendeado. Delicious! If you are coming here to surf make sure to bring all gear. There are only a few soft top long boards available.
If you are a light sleeper bring ear plugs, otherwise the waves crashing onto the rocks below your bedroom will keep you up!
Casa Iguana worked perfectly for our family of 5 and our stay here will be unforgettable!
Magical - Sunrise to Sunset!
What a location - off the beaten path in an extraordinarily safe, beautiful ocean and garden setting on the ocean. The exotic gardens were breathtaking. Breakfast in the open air dining and the sunset toast celebration each day of our family holiday were something we looked forward to and savored. WOW - what a breathtaking home on the ocean with the best staff of housekeepers, gardeners and manger. A rare privilege to be among these wonderful and caring people who call this home. Favorite memories - the gardener who scaled the coconut tree out front of our casa to pluck a fresh coconut for me - our housekeeper who prepared traditional Mexican breakfast dishes AND on another occasion cooked the fish we caught on a deep sea fishing day - Borrowing the surf boards each morning for our boys to head out and hang ten - Borrowing a kayak to tour around with my son in the estuary next to Casa Iguana. WOW special memories for a lifetime - What a treat!
Because there are only small grocery stores in the area, we offer the "meal package".
The meal package includes three meals per day, prepared by your private maid/cook, as well as abundant beverages and snacks, and bottled water. The beverages include excellent Mexican beer, various soft drinks, and freshly squeezed orange juice. All the shopping will be done by the staff.
Cost is $240 USD per week for adults, $120 USD per week for children 5-12.
Nayarit is a state of bountiful produce, and every street corner has a market selling fresh fruits and vegetables, both grown locally and brought from other parts of Mexico. Our cooks are plentifully supplied with the freshest of produce, dairy products, and meats. And of course there is the sea, where fish and shrimp and even oysters are brought in daily. Our housekeepers are very flexible both in catering to individual tastes as well as to special dietary requirements. We encourage you to discuss meal planning with them at the beginning of your visit, and thereafter on a daily basis if you like. They want to prepare all the meals in accordance with your tastes and preferences--hot or not, etc.
Ismael, our on site manager, sells a variety of wines and liquors in his little store in the Office. The package represents a terrific bargain in terms of price, quality, and convenience.
