Mas cotile is a luxury provencal farmhouse which has been recently renovated to the highest standards. It boasts four en-suite bedrooms with dressing rooms, a large modern kitchen, fully-equipped utility room, relaxing lounge with wood-burning stove, and a nursery fully equipped with cot, changing station and toys. The extensive gardens include a magnificent plane tree which shelters a pretty outdoor eating area, a patio with bbq, and ornamental rose gardens which open on to a large, heated pool. The grounds are sheltered by cypress trees and are complemented by an olive grove. The property is located a five-minute drive from the picturesque village of St Remy de Provence, 20 minutes from historic Avignon and 50 minutes from beaches.
We both live in London and have a young family. Dan works in finance and Sarah is a full-time Mum.
Sarah Horsley purchased this farmhouse in 2010
We bought this house when we lived in Switzerland. Since then, we have moved back to London but still love the house and go as often as we can. The new Eurostar link to the south of France makes it even more accessible. St Remy de Provence really is a special area with lots to do for adults and children. It's great to have the seclusion of living in the country, while being so close to town for all the essentials.
The house is great for families. Having had our children there since they were babies, we are well equipped for little ones. There are two cots, a crib, nappy change station, play pen, bouncy chair, high chair, activity mats, baby monitoring system, steriliser and of course lots and lots of toys and books. The outside area is securely fenced with electronic gates so you can have peace of mind that the children can't escape! And the pool is also safety fenced.
What a fantastic house! We all loved it - thank you for creating such a lovely place in which to spend our holiday. We passed many a happy evening round the kitchen table. The baby girls had a fine introduction to holidaying and enjoyed the toys, pool and garden. I loved the style and decor throughout - the understated colours and chunky wood, but modern appliances - great. We would love to explore the area heaps more - a week wasn't long enough - but what we saw looked wonderful!

We have had a great week, we love the house and the quiet lane. As we have 3 young kids we have appreciated the toys and the other touches for kids. We have similar tastes in cutlery, including plastic options, and Kylie has been coveting the table and coffee table! We are very happy to recommend the house. The pool also has been great. We would like to return in a couple of years.

We had some really wonderful days at the villa, but some difficult nights (see below). The facilities are very good, location wonderful and we were very impressed with the range of toys and swings. Our kids particularly enjoyed using the pool and swings and we really enjoyed the local area and villa's facilities.
We had quite a lot of difficulty sleeping at night. There are some really loud, and continuous, cracking, rustling and popping noises in the ceiling in a couple of the rooms throughout the night. So loud that those room occupants didn't sleep and we mostly decamped into the other rooms and slept during the day. I believe this is due to the house and it's ceiling trusses heating and contracting as the temperature changes over the course of the day and night. If you are a very heavy sleeper its not a problem, but if not you might struggle. I don't believe the villa is being rented out again, but if it is take ear plugs if you are a light sleeper.
We stayed at this farmhouse for ten days at the start of September 2014, and what a wonderful time it was! The house is set back from a very quiet lane and is very secluded and private, with electronic gates and mature trees surrounding the property.
Secluded does not mean shaded however - the grounds are large and the lovely pool / deck area benefit from sun throughout the day.
The property is a wonderful mix of traditional farmhouse features with modern fixtures and fittings giving a "wow" factor. The kitchen with eat-outside verandah are the focus of the house and beautifully appointed. We were only a couple but I can imagine it being a real treat with a load of family and friends - maybe 8-10 people depending on the number and ages of kids.
I quite honestly didn't want to come home and will be negotiating for a longer stay whilst I write a book!! Thanks Daniel and Sarah
We can thoroughly recommend this villa. Before we went, the owners were very helpful in assisting with any questions about the accommodation and the area.
The travelling was a breeze due to the proximity of Avignon (20 min drive) and its direct Eurostar service from London.
The facilities in the villa were as described with large bedrooms and fantastic facilities for the kids (8 of us went). The pool was a focal point and the kids spent countless hours in the pool and lounging around it. The secure and secluded grounds lent an intimacy to the place which meant that we thoroughly relaxed and the kitchen opens out onto the veranda which therefore became a natural place to eat outside in the evenings.
All in all a tranquil house with all the facilities that you could need.
Additionally, the surrounding area is not to be under-rated with the picturesque Saint Remy located within a 5 minute drive, Wednesday's market days are fantastic.
We rarely think of revisiting old holiday haunts but we intend to make an exception in this case and are booking for a week next summer.
We love St Remy and were visiting again, this time with our friends and their two young daughters. The house was amazing. Lovely and big so lots of space and quiet space. The photos are exactly how the house is. I had been in communication with Sarah, the owner before hand and I was happy with how things were set up. We were lucky enough to meet Sarah in London and got some tips and ideas from her about places to go and things to do. Mr Rey looks after the place and was at the house to greet us and show us around. We had many a lovely evening sitting around the large dinning table catching up on they day with our friends. The BBQ was well used as was the pool. Being at the house was so relaxing and so well appointed both for cooking and the amenities.
Thanks Sarah we will be back
