Beautiful location to ring in 2016, even with little snow!

  • 5 of 5

3 families (6 adults, 6 kids), stayed in this cabin over New Year's for 5 days. The house slept all 12 comfortably, and the basement turned into a wonderful kids' lair where they could play pool, darts, and the game cube. Kitchen is well equipped, NO WIFI, satellite TV in every bedroom and basement. The views are gorgeous and the house is a short 15-20 min drive to the top of the Snowshoe resort. We took advantage of the unseasonably warm weather to go for a hike on the rail to trial in Cass, as well as up into the mountains to hike to the waterfalls. And we were lucky to get one day of skiing in when the resort finally opened. The road to cabin in gravel, so 4 WD is needed. George was very responsive over the holiday weekend, helping to resolve a problem with the satellite TV and willing to work with us on concerns as to whether Snowshoe would open. Here is the layout, since the VRBO description does not include

Rooms are Master #1- King and love seat that pulls out to twin

Master #2- King and loveseat that pulls out to twin

BR #3 (2nd floor) Queen with full bath

BR #4 (2nd floor) Queen with full bath

BR #5 (lower level) Queen

BR # 6 (lower level) 2 twins with attached bath, shared to common rec room

We had a wonderful weekend. The house slept 9 comfortably. Having a full bath in each bedroom was a great asset. The house is beautiful, watching the stars in the hottub was extraordinary, and seeing deer throughout the day a bonus. The homeowner is very easy to work with and extremely helpful. It is about 20 minutes to the top of Snowshoe mountain. We can confirm a four wheel drive is highly recommended to get to the house if any snow is on the road. We can't wait to see the basement finished! We highly recommend this house as an alternative to staying in the hustle/bustle of the resort.

Our family stayed at this...

  • 5 of 5

Our family stayed at this lovely home early March. The home was absolutely wonderful! Very tastefully decorated and everything was there for us. We did not need to bring ANYTHING but our clothes. I can honestly say that it was almost as comfortable as staying in my own home, like a home away from home. There were 5 adults, 3 teenagers, and 2 little toddlers and everyone loved it. Very conveniently located at the base of Snowshoe. I would definitely recommend to anyone who is a picky vacationer, like myself. George was very easy, helpful, and a joy to work with, too!
